Stayed on 2 occasions and seams very noisy at night and staff did not assist. Second stay asked for quiet room was put ground floor by lift with door banging all night and bar noise seams like work men

« A warm and friendly welcome »

I have stayed at many chain hotels for both work and leisure and I frequently use Ibis hotels as they always have great staff who are genuinely friendly and helpful. Until now the friendliest and most helpful team I had met were at the Ibis hotel in York. Well not any more, the team at Thurrock made me feel like I was staying with old friends, nothing was too much trouble and no matter what you ask or at what time of day or night they did everything possible to ensure my one night stay was just right.

So a weekend working in Essex as a s. dog handler, both myself and Niro the s. rottweiler had a great nights sleep. Girl was very pleasant booking us in, the room, be it a bit small was plenty good enough and had everything you need and the room and bathroom was clean and in good order. For the price we paid no complaints here Thanks guys

The hotel knew I would be needing a cot, upon a late night arrival with my baby I was told the cot wasn't in the room yet and had to wait. My baby was extremely tired. Once cot arrived I started to put it up to find all the legs were snapped and broken and could not be used. (This also proves that the cots are not checked and cleaned after every use.) Went to use the phone to call reception but there wasn't one so I had to go all the way down (put on the 4th floor) to ask for another, I mentioned there was no phone but one was never given to us. There was extremely loud banging till early hours in the morning none of us got much sleep. We were told we were getting a king size bed but we got a double.. After having a shower I grabbed a towel to find they are all extremely small and being heavily pregnant I couldn't even wrap it around me. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

An excellent team of staff run this hotel. The food is a bit on the expensive side but it is well cooked and presented. All the staff are helpful, courteous and a credit to the hotel.

This was my second stay at this particular hotel and it was as good as the first. I used the online check in service so all I had to do on arrival was give my name and get my room card. I was offered a choice of floors and proximity to the lift. I chose 2nd floor and close to the list. The room was spotless and well laid out. What a comfy bed! The bathroom is small but well designed with a tardis=like shower. Had a great nights sleep before embarking on a cruise the following day. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful. I will definitely use this hotel again.

« All ok but room smelled of smoke »

I checked in and was greeted warmly although I waited a long time due to the bar area being very busy so the two girls were running around and not been able to look after an area of responsibilities, they were great to be fair. On being given my key after a very long day and knowing I had a very early start I went to the room when i entered all I could smell was smoke. Everything smelled, I went back to reception but there were people waiting to check, waiting for food waiting for for drinks and still only two staff on so I decided to stay in the room. I ended up sleeping in my clothes with the curtain and window open(as much as it would) with a towel on the pillow out of the plastic bag on the shelf to try and stop the smell getting to me. I woke up with a sore throat and smelling of tobacco. How did your cleaner not notice this it was a none smoking room as all are and the sticker on the window indecated this so why was this room let our to anyone? In the morning I told reception and they offered me a free coffe or some breakfast but I was in a hurry and had to be gone. Could you please respond as to how this could be allowed to happen and why was it not picked up

« Even a budget hotel should be clean and warm »

I did have to request a new room, stayed at many Accor hotels in all price categories and usually believe I get what I pay for. This time the first room smelt really bad and had a big stain/mold on the carpet, did get another room that was much better. Would still be even better if there was working heating, cause ground floor room was really cold.
