« Pleasantly Surprised »

Modern, clean and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. The breakfast was very nice food with a good selection and constantly refreshed right up to cut of. 10am. Special thanks to David who made sure everything was kept on top of. The rooms are normal hotel layout, but possibly a bit smaller. However the way the furniture is fitted and the shower/toilet is done, it is actually spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and had several nights good sleep. they have installed additional internal double glazing so traffic noise is practically non existent, which was surprising. The evening menu has a good selection and the food was very nice and not expensive; £10 -£12 for a main, £4.50 -£5 for desert and the drinks weren't too bad either. Really pleased with our stay and will definitely stay again and look at other Ibis hotel locations.

Great to be back at Ibis Thurrock and see all the smashing staff once again. We are always given a splendid welcome when we arrive along with a speedy check in, no matter how late it is. Rooms and shower have plenty of room and a very good mattress means you get a good night’s sleep. The morning reception staff give a speedy check out along with plenty of smiles to send you on your way.

« Let down again »

I can't believe it, we go 10 to 15 years of staying in the Ibis London Thurrock without any complaints (check our surveys during that time we always answer them) we visit our granddaughter and have loved it there, we preferred the Ibis even tough sometimes there were better offers at the Premier Inn. Then the last time we stayed we had broken furniture in our room in the new building that nobody responded to. As an apology we received 10% discount from Suraj Rana when we came back this time, great customer service. Because we went through Suraj we didn't get the chance to ask if possible could we have a room in the new building preferable in 224 or 225, since the new building has been refurbished we have been lucky enough to stay there each time, my wife is a very light sleeper and the noice from the motorway keeps her awake. So we e-mailed ac… asking them( I have a copy if you doubt me), how disappointing that they never bothered to reply, maybe it was because we were only staying one night this time and we weren't worth the bother. So when we got to the Ibis Hotel and I quoted the e-mail nobody new anything about it. The young lady on the desk who I should say was very nice said we would have to be in the old building saying that she would try and give us a room away from the noisy traffic, then saying if we weren't happy come back and we could try another room. I must stress that the room she gave us was lovely and clean, the bed was so, so comfortable, the noise was manageable and we slept like logs. But and I mean BUT as always happens we like an extra pillow, so when I went to make a phone call to the reception desk there wasn't one, we were on the fourth floor so off I went down to ask for an extra pillow I said to the receptionist that we had no phone she said you must have so we agreed she would give me three minutes and phone so I could find where it was, I heard nothing !! then my wife was in the shower and the shower gel was empty, so off I went down again from the fourth floor to ask for shower gel and at the same time ask about the phone, the receptionist said she had contacted the engineer, On our way out that evening I asked again at the reception desk about the phone and was offered another room, by this time it was to late and we were only staying one night, fortunately we didn't need to phone the reception desk again during our stay. Finally I ask is there something wrong at the hotel, is there management issues that things have become so lackadaisical. Had I said at the start of the survey 10 to 15 years of perfection then two visits on the trot there are problems. We are coming again in October for three nights this time hopefully you will get it sorted by then. Sorry to go on but me and my wife were so disappointed as we have been used to so much better.

The room was cleaned to.a high standard and all staff we saw were very polite. The only issue with the room is it was small for a family room compared to Travelodge. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional. Loved the choice for breakfast which.is much better than Travelodge. You offer a great choice of muffins and pastries. The only downside was dinner did not offer a deal. As a result, it was very pricey compared to Travelodge.

Slightly disappointed that there were lumps of chewing gum stuck along the ridge of the headboard which I removed and the pillow cases were on inside out - appreciate it is a basic hotel but attention to detail is key as the rooms are not always that cheap. I actually stay at the Ibis several times a year and do rate them very highly; this time I guess I was just unlucky in who ever had cleaned the room before my arrival

The hotel is in a good location, 25 min train journey to central london and 2 min drive and you are in M25. Rooms are always clean and comfortable and staff are always there to help. Plenty of choices on Restaurant menu and good all you can eat English breakfast. All in all a good experience for me and definitely will be using it.
