« Disappointing on various aspects, and pleasing on others »

My room, No. 461 had running water (pipes in the walls) all night. I stayed with you for 2 nights and got very little sleep. I found the reception staff on arrival at 9.30pm on 12 March not overly helpful in contrast to an elderly gentleman who assisted me on Tuesday 13 March. The conference staff were exceptionally helpful and went out of their way to assist me with my requests

The most impressive thing was the how friendly and helpful the staff was. It is so nice to come into a country and have that type of hospitality. United States has a long way to go when it comes to that. The town was clean and we felt very safe.

I had written a couple of emails direct to the holiday while there but yet to get a response, which included having to change my rooms in the middle of the night due to insects in them, including the new room and cleanliness!

Coping with the restricted access well in the circumstances- particularly pleased with the very efficient valet parking service. Young well trained and friendly staff in the bar and housekeeping - reception was obviously understaffed and working under stress but trying to provide an acceptable level of service

Staff were great, lack of parking is a nuisance but was dealt with by the team professionally. Downside was the room that smelt like it was previously a smoking room, corridors also not fresh.

I’ve stayed at the Novatel Tainui on numerous occasions. On checking into my room it was obvious someone had been smoking in the room on a prior stay. I contacted a lovely lady on reception who apologised straight away and offered up a new room. The new room was clearly an upgrade which wasn’t necessary but was very much appreciated. Thank you.

Lovely staff, bathroom & choice of menus. As a single person staying morecthan one night i would prefer hotels to have just one bed & a comfortable sofa instead of 2 x beds. The Devonport Hotel in Tauranga, for example, does it very well.
