« World Square comfortable & well positioned »

This was only a short two night stay for concerts at the Opera House but Ibis World Square provided everything I required. The room was an ideal size for one person, bed and shower facilities were excellent. The hotel is located close to public transport and CBD shopping. Well priced for what I received in return.

Disappointed with the hotel and room but the service was excellent in all respects i.e. reception, breakfast, dinner. With the 2 king size beds it was impossible to open the very small wardrobe, there was no provision for toiletries, makeup in bathroom. In fact I had to put the ironing board up to use as a shelf. Having only 1 lift operating was a disadvantage. I realise the building is old but I thought it was too expensive for the facilities. The saving grace was the SERVICE - GREAT!!

« We been booked a queen room and got a twin. »

The location was great for what we wanted. There are was only 1 lift working and when everyone has luggage you had to wait a few times to get. To and from your floor.

I did enjoy the room the bed was exceptional with soft sheets, good mattress feel and soft feather pillows. The room had good air conditioning and no bad smells. I would gladly stay there again.

« Fine hotel crippled by only having one functioning lift »

Typical ibis hotel which was excellent in every respect except the 16 storey hotel only has two lifts. When one of these is malfunctioning, the guest experience is badly affected when guests and hotel cleaners etc are competing for that one lift, esp at breakfast and check-out times.

« Horrible Room Smell »

Two night stay. When my son and I went to the room it smelt badly. Smelt like flatulence to be honest. I figured that it may have been the previous tenant. We went out on the second day and returned and the same smell was still present ie room 812. A real turn off.

« NOT IBIS USUAL STANDARDS »

THERE WERE A NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH OUR STAY . I RANG THE HOTEL AND HAD A GOOD TALK WITH THE MANAGER, HE DEALT WITH MOST OF THE ISSUES. BUT IT WAS VERY DISSAPPOINTING. I THINK THE MAJOR ONE WAS HAVING A TO PAY AFTER PRE PAYING OUR ACOMMODATION.

Our room was not available at 1:00pm when we arrive & we were advised that check in was at 2:00pm & that we would receive a call when our room was ready. We had not received a call & as we were tired headed back to the hotel around 4:00pm. The new staff member on the front desk had no idea why we weren't called as he started at 3. He offered us a drink to smooth things over, which was a nice gesture. There are only 2 lifts in the hotel, one of which was broken for our entire stay & we were advised by another guest that it had been broken for over a week, which is how long he had stayed there. This caused major inconvenience each time we needed to use the lift, including for breakfast. It became worse in the morning when all the cleaning staff were using the lift with their trolleys pinning us against the sides of the lift with very little space between us & dirty vacuum cleaner. The advertising around the hotel suggests a focus on comfort, however this doesn't appear to be the case considering the pillows in our room were lumpy. We also found them to be very high & when we requested lower profile pillows, we were advised that the hotel only had one type of pillow. The advertising is extremely misleading, because pillow are vital for a comfortable sleep. After not sleeping very well, we ventured down to breakfast hoping to have a nice cup of coffee. Unfortunately we had to leave the hotel & buy our own coffee as the coffee machine was not working on 2 out of our 3 mornings.

« Disapointing »

The stay was very disappointing. The restaurant is closed on weekends. The breakfast we paid for was a major disappointment with lack of options and we didn't eat much. Not worth the money we spent. The air conditioning in the room had not been cleaned for 2 years. The bar lacks variety. As a silver member I will not be returning to this place again.

« Very Tired and not maintained »

1. Only one lift was working 2. The "New Ibis" signs have been up for at least 2 years that I have been going there regularly 3. There was no plug in my bathroom basin (it had a rubber plug) and when you ran water down the basin it stank 4. The rooms need a good paint, they are looking very shabby 5. Bathroom floor wasn't cleaned properly - when you shut the bathroom door there was the stem from an apple behind it and I didn't have any apples. Unfortunately it's next to where I need to go for work or I would probably not stay there again.

Room itself was a bit dated but serves its purpose. Air conditioning ran fine for a while but woke me up early in the morning when it started clunking. One of your lifts was out of order which made wait times prohibitive. Restaurant was advertised as open until 9:30 but when I went down one night just after 8:30 there was nobody around. Not to be racist but some Indian guests who were staying on level 16 stunk the common areas up with curry (it even started seeping into the room it was that pungent!). Staff were helpful and check in/out was quick and easy. Bed was comfy. Overall, a reasonably enjoyable stay.

Check in was quick and the staff were nice and easy to deal with, everything worked well in the room, however the shower curtain was super annoying and it would have been great to have a small tap for drinking water.
