« Impossible to find - bit like faulty towers »

The postcode (sat nav - google maps) took me to the wrong place repeatedly (as it turned out, about 200m away, but on the other side of a dead end, with the hotel not visible). It took me around 45 mins to find the hotel and that was only after I got a friend to direct me there by phone. When I informed staff on arrival, they said 'oh yeah, postcode is wrong, you should have used this one instead', so I asked if that was on the website, and they said, 'no, not yet'..... however, this postcode would also have taken me to the wrong place. The hotel was very strange, a bit like a bad 1950s motel. The wiring was extremely dodgy (wobbly switch to bathroom that needed extra tapping to get it to work), the rooms were not very sound-proofed, so I could hear my neighbour snoring most of the night, the decor was very tired, curtains faded, carpet stained, and there was a light on outside my room all night that was quite bright and shone through the gaps in the curtains. All in all - fairly grim!

I arrived around midnight. The stay was OK until the morning when I discovered that the toilet was blocked. This should, I think, have been discovered and dealt with when the room was cleaned.

« good place to stay when you visit Crufts »

Great place to stay with dogs, nice warm room and comfortable bed. Direct entrance to the room from outside. Easy to find, in quiet area, with parking. Bad points: taking deposit when you stay with dogs, barthroom equipment bit used but it is UK, so bathrooms are not the best onces.

Excellant. Staff are helpful as always. The room is clean and comfortable. I asked to have a ground floor room facing rearwards and you obliged. Thank you. I am very happy using your hotel, it is convenient for myself and my dogs for business trips and shows. Will be using you again.

This is probably the most dated IBIS hotel I stay in, The rooms are in dire need of an overhaul, the rooms are dated (1960s). You cannot even have a pre-authorisation on your card so every meal/Drink has to be paid individually . The only good points being its location and the staff that work there.

« Just about acceptable »

I had trouble finding the hotel using the postcode and Sat Nav - there needs to be some explanation for guests on the web site. Welcome was fine Room was basic Disappointed to find the room was not properly cleaned - a previous guest had used talc, this had been vacuumed by the bed but not under or down the side of the bed. Check out had zero customer service

« Not quite third world but not far off! »

Whilst the staff were pleasant and attentive the room and food were vastly disappointing. The room was freezing cold and took half the night to warm up with the tiny heater - given I had checked in online in advance, the heating could have been turned on before my arrival. My shoes stuck to the floor of the bathroom in a disconcerting manner suggesting it hadn’t been properly washed for sometime. The fan in room 34 had dust and cobwebs hanging out of it. I also spent the night itching and had lots of little red bumps the next morning, I’m hoping this is an overuse of starch rather than bedbugs. The lettuce on my evening meal was brown tinged around the edges and the breakfast sausage was inedible - fortunately the scrambled eggs saved the day.

Staff very friendly. Breakfast a bit slow as dishes were not replenished quickly when they ran out. Room cleaning a bit sporadic. Toilet cistern broken (I fixed it as no maintenance person available....) and the cleaner should have reported the issue

Ibis have the most complicated and ridiculous prebooking system of any budget hotel chain. Had a member of our staff wait an hour before giving them a room even though the room had been prebooked. Definitely not recommended for business users

Check in with Adam was excellent. We were asked if we would like a ground floor or 1st floor room. Were given room 31 on the ground floor. Location was good but the room smelt musty and the carpet was filthy.

« Ibis tainted our weekend break »

Hard to find using post code in nav. On arrival I was told I had not paid.I argued I had as after inputting my credit card details and printing a document which said nothing to pay at hotel, I assumed I had paid. Feeling a little embarrassed and confused I was told to check my credit card statement. So I promptly used my phone went online and couldn't find any charges. After paying, we went to a freezing cold room which took over 4 hours to heat up after switching on the heater, which incidentally didn't work when first switched on as it was also turned off at the mains switch under the worktop.The shower didn't work very well I guess due to low water pressure. Then the breakfast fiasco, I was told I had only paid for one and would have to pay for another. I have no idea how you can book a room for 2 including breakfast and only get 1. Well after producing my printout again which stated super saver deal 1 room,2 adults, breakfast included, we were grudgingly allowed in only to find no bacon, sausages, eggs or mushrooms, only tomatoes! We had to wait for some 15 minutes before anything was replenished.Only for these items to run out again immediately, which wasn't surprising when they came out with only 4 sausages at a time. Other guests also complained there were no cooked items on a few other occasions whilst we were sat eating our breakfast. It was a cheap offer, so glad we did not pay full price for a really poor service!

« Not without isues »

On arrival had argument I hadn't paid. My paperwork said paid nothing to pay at hotel. So I had to check my c/card stmt to see if I had or not as it was I hadn't. Room freezing cold on turning the heater on it didn't work it was switched off from the mains socket under the worktop. When it came to breakfast another argument I had only paid for 1, yet my paperwork said super saver deal 1 room 2 adults including breakfast. After being allowed breakfast for 2 there was nothing in the cooked section apart from tomatoes. Had to wait for all other items to be replenished when the sausages came out there were 4 between several guests who were waiting. Whilst eating my breakfast guests were continually finding no sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and had to ask for more. Also my sat nav took us to the wrong part of leaf lane, so make sure you research this before travelling just in case you get lost.

This place really needs knocking down and rebuilding, it is not up to the usual Ibis standard and never will be due to its design. The walls are paper thin which means lots of interesting noises, to say the least, from bedrooms to the side, above and below.
