« Much better than expected »

After reading the poor reviews, we were expecting the worse. However we were pleased with what we found. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was OK, clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was great and the staff kept restocking items. We would definitely use this Ibis again.

« Much better than expected »

After booking the hotel we read the reviews. Most reviews were very negative, at which point we expected the hotel rooms were going to be horrible. However, upon our late arrival we found the man at the desk to be helpful and chatty. The room was clean, tidy, the remote for the t. V was by the TV and the beds were very comfortable. We slept great, no outside disturbances. We had concerns about the breakfast, again due to the bad reviews, but we found it to be the opposite.. We filled ourselves up on cooked breakfast, toast, rolls, cereals, yogurts, and yummy pastries. The staff constantly refilled the apple and orange juice containers. The staff also kept the flow of fresh breakfast items stocked up. We would like to give this ibis a big thumbs up and we would definitely stay here again.

« Room as expected. Outside dark and scary »

Although the rooms are old fashioned and could do with an upgrade we did expect and it was one night so this didn't bother, it was really really warm so glad we had packed a fan from home. We had booked a twin room and were given a double the hotel was practically deserted so don't know why this was an issue, but after lugging our bags to the room in the dark after arriving late we didn't have the energy to return to reception to switch. I really wish you would have more outside lights as I found it really scary walking outside on my own, especially returning to the car on my own in the middle of the night, there were lots of dark corners and loads of white work vans in the car park. Considering the lack of outside lighting there was also a lot of trip hazards, hoses wraped around trees trailing along the ground, kerb stones that weren't level. There was also stairs to navigate and the only flood light in the place didn't go on until I was half way up the stairs. There were dull green lights which helped to navigate along the outside walkways but these didn't all work. We made it out safe but I am sure it is an accident waiting to happen especially with the reception so far away from the rooms.

Following my stay on the 8th July which I had with late checkout till 5pm on the 9th July. Yesterday from 9:30/10am onwards all the way through until I leaved which was around 1530pm the noise from the hotel was dreadful. Drilling, hammering, knocking was not acceptable after a night shift hence why I chose late checkout. I rang through to Reception which I spoke to a male on the other side of the phone at 11.18am and told him my frustration, his response was oh sorry we have maintenance works, which we couldn’t hear each other on the phone due to the noise. Firstly why are you allowing people to stay at your hotel with late checkout if you have maintenance works going on? And secondly shouldn’t it be courtesy to your customers to inform them of maintenance works so they are aware at the time of booking that there may be noise / disruption which you have failed to advertise or notify me of whilst checking in. Also i had housekeeping knocking on my door at 11am which I told them I had late checkout. Again at noon I had housekeeping shout through my open window ‘what time are you leaving’ to which I replied with I have late checkout. Surely you should be informing your housekeeping staff of the rooms which have late check out customers in. It is totally unprofessional to have housekeeping shouting through an open window. The whole experience is unacceptable and an absolute shambles with respect to your customers who are using this hotel regularly. I have tried to use the online complaint form which is not allowing me to complain!!!!!

The hotel is convenient for access to main routes but is in the middle of a road with a block at either side so at the end of a journey if using post codes you come to a block and have to renavigate.... please mention on website. Bathrooms are clean although bath very small and rooms are dark, dingy and dirty. The carpets are filthy and the whole site has an uncared for look with stuff stored visibly outside and the look of never having been swept or tended. Will never return and will think before returning to any IBIS establishment. Breakfast had no beans or tomatoes to go with scrambled egg ...only veggie option. This is a budget hotel but is well below standard of similar settings.

I had the remains of the previous guests Chinese take away in my room, used cup and cutlery, the carpet was stained, the fittings were shabby and the whole room smelled strongly of disinfectant. I am shocked as Ibis has always been great for me having stayed in UK and Germany. This looks suspiciously like a former Campanile hotel to me - I brand I actively avoid for all the reasons above - I am surprised you have this in the Ibis camp as it is not what I consider to be a typical ibis hotel. I booked directly though I usually use a booking site like LAterooms.com as I can see guest reviews, how I wish I had. I paid £81 yet advertised in the MOTEL price was £51 and having spoken to other guests I paid more than most for a truly disgusting stay

« Poor standards »

Hotel was very dirty and run down. Room smelt of damp and the carpet was horrific. The whole hotel is in dire need or refurbishment, not the modern hotel you state you are. Reception wanted two nights paid up front ( never usually have to do this at an IBIS). Food was disgraceful in the evening. Needless to say, I will not be staying in this hotel again. I have just booked with another IBIS for another 12 room nights for the next couple of months. Not the standard I have come to expect at all.

Received a phone call on morning of booking advising me that boiler had broken in Coventry south, we were moved to another hotel in Coventry city center. This hotel was very nice - although excessive noise in the early hours from other guests in the corridor

I arrived late at night, night receptionnist was really nice and quick. room and commdities are OK but No hot water is absolutly not OK. It was the case for all the rooms aof my colleagues too. We received no warning, no excuse wen we reached reception and no gesture .

« Excellent customer servie but no hot water. »

I stay at this Ibis approximately monthly and this is the first time there has been a major issue - no hot water in the morning. On the one hand this is a significant nuisance, but it did give the staff a chance to show excellent customer service - they refunded my night's charge without being asked. I would have been happy with a partial refund (and actually said so) but the refund was for the full amount. The key factor here is that I mentioned the water and the lady on reception volunteered the refund unprompted - and to me that is excellent customer service.

« Bad, choose another hotel. »

There was no hot water, hotel offered us alternative Ibis for extra cost without breakfast. We declined so stayed with no hot water. In room electrical socket in bad shape (burnt). Bath had repairs and rust round plughole. Towels very abrasive. Very limited staff, so much so we didn't get our cooked breakfast which we had paid for. Had to make do with a slice of toast (which we did ourselves). Also member of cleaning staff (early morning) knocked on our room door and attempted to walk straight in, she did not wait for us to answer. Thank goodness we had put the lock on the door. Cleaner wanted to know when we were checking out. We were dressing at the time. Also while we were eating our toast in the dining area the cleaner was hoovering around us. The only nice thing was the bedding and bed were clean. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

« The service at Ibis Coventry South continues to slip downwards »

We arrived to check-in at 11.10pm to be told that there was no hot water and that arrangements had been made for us, instead, to stay at Ibis Coventry City Centre. We felt it was too much trouble to start changing plans at that time of night so had to live without hot water. We accept that problems arise, but when we reserved the room you requested our email address and mobile number. So you had two means of contacting us concerning the no hot water and need to change hotels but you didn't bother. If we'd known earlier in the day we could have fitted in with your suggestion. Also, there was pretty gross staining on the bedroom carpet. The experience of staying at this hotel has been falling in the last 12 months or so, and we have been staying here for nearly 15 years.

« Room was ok but there was no hot water »

When I tried to book in the computers were down and I could not check in, ands whilst waiting they had 2 power cuts. Fortunately I was visiting relatives and returned to the ibis later and got checked in ok. The room was ok but was cold and ther was no heating and in the morning there was still no heating and on reflection the power cuts had probably altered the time clocks. In the morning when trying to get a shower there was no hot water. On visiting reception we found that there was no hot water across the site. We later heard that there had been problems with the hot water throughout the week. I have raised these problems with customer services and expect a full refund.
