Excellent room with best hotel bed ever slept in. Shower water flow not great.

« Very USA motel style »

Very friendly and attentive staff. However, the room was tired albeit the bed linen and towels were very clean. Unfortunately as I drew the shower curtain while taking a shower it was clear that the shower curtain needed replacing as it was quite smelly

« Suited needs for one night stay »

Room was clean and tidy and suited needs for the one night I stayed. Better selection of drinks available in the room. Herbal was only option. Water pressure in bath room especially the shower needs looking at. Not happy I had to pay £5 to park my car. Receptionist was very helpful and polite.

« Birmingham 3 Nights »

Good standard hotel, the only downside was the school opposite, noisy in the mornings. As a Gold member, I was offered a check in welcome drink, unlike Manchester Portland Street. Breakfast was hit or miss, but was a buffet English.

Quickly frankly, I expected a lot more from ibis. Had decent experiences with you in the past, but this by far is the worst stay I've ever had. To be begin with, upon arrival, the receptionist wasn't aware of me doing my online check in. She didn't really know what I was going on about. Proceeded to give my details to confirm everything, and then before I went to pay for my room, she said I'd have to provide photo ID. Now, that's not what annoyed me, but what frustrated me was firstly, wasn't told I would need to bring ID in any of my emails leading up to the day, Secondly. I wasn't exactly in a position where I could simply go home and grab it otherwise I would of, and thirdly, in the terms and conditions it only states you need to bring ID for cash payments. However I was paying with card. She continued to tell me it was a "hotel policy" and that I wouldn't be able to pay. She then asked my partner for her ID which she also didnt have, which I don't understand what difference it would of made simply because I was the one paying and it was my name on the room . Not to mention this woman was rude to me, making me feel like a idiot in front of the other customers who were there. Baring in this mind, I haven't paid yet and have just spent over an hour getting to this hotel to have to deal with this is a complete joke. So after finally realising that she was wrong to hold me up for so long for something that isn't stated anywhere mind you, we proceeded to the room, which wasn't bad but not great either. Two issues with the room I had. The apparently "open 24 hours a day seven days a week" bar was closed when I wanted to simply get a drink. Was told I'd have to call back in the morning. So ended up eating out both days. And the bed just wasn't comfortable. Ended up waking up the next day was neck and shoulder pain which I still have on the making of this email. So on the day of departure I had previously paid for a late check out which to my understanding is about 5 o clock. However while me and my partner were asleep, at about something to 12 in the morning and was rudely woken up by loud banging on our door. Confused on who it could it be, was greeted by a member of staff who asked whether i was booked for a normal or late check out. Angry and confused at the point i quite frustratingly explained I had paid for a late check out. She then went on to say that at the reception it didn't say that hence why she was there. Said to her again that I had paid to leave at 5 and then she left. At the point, I was past the point of caring and completely hated the reminder of my time there. I honestly expected better from ibis I really did. But never again. If I can help it, I will not be ever coming to this particular branch. Or any in the future if I'm honest. One of the worst experiences I've had. Period.

« Friendly staff but diabolical shower. »

Check in was lovely. Guy that checked me in was covering as from a different hotel. Room was very clean. Only downside was the shower. No pressure at all I've stayed in room 124 a few times and for the past few years it's been diabolical. Id rather stay in the ibis budget for less money and have a better shower.

« Awful »

We had three separate rooms - all with FILTHY carpets. Door stuck. Earwig found. No tea available in one room. No other rooms available that were any cleaner apparently. Shocking.

« Cricket weekend »

Hotel was as expected - basic but comfortable and was exactly what we required; a base to recuperate, sleep and get ready for the next day. The only slight criticism is that the reception staff seemed completely unaware that we'd checked on online the day before arrival or even that online check in existed. Apart from this, the staff were great. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate and, even better, it was served until midday at the weekend so no rush to get up. Overall, a good stay.

« Good little place to stay. »

For the price it's an ok place to stay. Rooms could do with a refresh and the shower didn't have much power but you £52 it's ok.

« Great Location if you're going to Edgbaston Cricket ground »

We stayed at the Ibis Irving street when we were going to Edgbaston for the T20 final. It's an easy 20 minute walk to the ground and there are shops on the way if you want to buy food. The rooms are a little basic but they are clean and the breakfast is very good. I will stay again when I visit Edgbaston.

Bed was comfy, rooms are a decent size and there were tea coffee facilities, onsite parking which is great as you can keep an eye out. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming

« Short stay »

Check in was great, really helpful lad on reception. The room was ok, a little small but ok for one night. It was a little chilly though, there seemed to be a draft coming through the windows? Breakfast was again ok, the lids of the hot food containers created condensation, so when you lift them off it all went on the food, creating soggy hash browns and scrambled eggs, there also wasn't anywhere tout the lid, so had to carefully balance it on the side. Plenty of choice for spreads, preserves and drinks, the children enjoyed it so that is all that matters really.

First day was good next few days were awful. Beds weren't changed. Dressing gowns weren't put in the room. Bath was broken had maintenance still taps fell off. Room service at night bought me food with a bottle of coke with the top stop on which I tried to open with a fork and cut my finger open. The fridge didn't work. Two lamps didn't work. Bed sheets weren't changed when I asked for them to be done they just made the bed when they never changed the day before they had stains on. I made a complaint to management. The night manager. Who then knocked my door at 5 am accusing me of maybe smoking which I hadn't. I felt very harrassed alarmed and distressed and was then grateful that there was a chain latch on the door that I found to be odd before waiting for long periods of time to make payments to extend my stay. After joining as a member and being told to wait in that cue rarther than the normal counter then just being left there. Which a lot of people were annoyed with. The breakfast was foul. Hmmm the list goes on.

« Not very great »

It was an okay room for the price we paid. Not very clean at all. Very very very loud and couldn't sleep and in the morning the cleaners were very loud with their trolley it sounded as though they were banging on the walls. Room smelt a little. Wasn't happy erg the stay as didn't have a good sleep.

« Not the best Ibis I have stayed in. »

Brilliant young man doing everything from checking in, bar work and even doing the food!!! He never lost his smile even though under a lot of pressure. A real credit to Accor.
