« Dont rely on early booking to get a room with a working lock, and other surprises. »

I booked in November 2017. On 21 August 2018 payment was taken from my account. I rang to enquire and was told that the accounts were just being done and it had been noticed that I had not been charged yet and it was indeed for my stay on the 17 September. On 17th I arrived and at around 9am confirmed arrival and bought a parking ticket (we were at the cricket at Edgebaston). I rang at around 5:30pm to check everything was ok. When we did get to reception we were given the last available room which had a dodgy lock and required someone form reception to open the door. We were given a complimentary drink and offered breakfast (but this would have meant extending our car parking and then getting escorted back before leaving). We had thought about going out again but felt that the rigmarole involved was just too much so stayed put. I know worse things happen but I would not expect to get the last, dodgy room, having booked in November, paid in August, confirmed our arrival at 9am and then 530pm.

Will never stay again. The room were dirty, old and unappealing. The staff at reception were very rude, even though they miss created our key card THREE times, that we had to keep going back to get it re issued. The bar was slow, in inviting and again, rude staff. The grounds were dirty and falling apart. Never again.

The hotel was clean and functional . The reception staff were friendly and efficient. There were a couple of things that were a bit worrying about my room. I couldn’t get out of it as the inner door was stuck and I needed to call reception to get out! One of the wall lights didn’t work as the bulb had been put in wrong and was stuck! Other than that the room was clean and it was met my needs.

Very helpful staff, breakfast good, pleased with the clean rooms etc. The outside areas are in need of a little tlc. The rails up the outside stairs were rotten and people were in danger of getting splinters.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was very good too. The overall impression not of the hotel was not great though. The room was basic, small and the carpet was full of ground in grime. The room was clean though and the bed was comfy. The outside area was shabby. The whole place needs refurbishing, but even then I really don't like the motel style and would not stay here again. The whole staff were excellent though.

This is more of a motel than a hotel, with all access to rooms and the restaurant outside, exposed to the elements. The approach to the rooms are unwelcoming. I was given room 114 to start with. The overall look of the room was very tired and dated. Curtains were part falling down, the formica was peeling off the worktop under the window and was badly chipped in order areas. There was what appeared to be bad red wine staining on the edge nearest the heater. The décor was very dated and not inviting or appealing with chocolate brown paintwork and brown carpeting. I was shown two other rooms and chose the better one, which was 136. This had some sort of plasters on the chipped enamel bath and a dirty heater cover, with what I can only hope was tomato sauce splatters rather than blood! There was a Kirby hair grip on the bedroom floor suggesting the room hadn't been hovered. The high security fencing is also very off putting, but I can only presume is a necessity. The bed at least was very comfortable.

First off. I have to say. You're staff are really really nice and very helpful. Reception area was clean and nice. However my bedroom was another story. On opening the door I was greeted with the most horrendous smell. I can't even describe what it was. Stail sweat and feet is how best to describe it. If I wasn't so tired I'd have slept in my car. The worst nights sleep ever because of all the 'nocturnal' activities going on all around me. BUT having said all that for £50 odd pound o didn't expect much and I that's exactly what I got.

Bed comfortable, room quieter than expected. Bathroom smelt of damp and there were curlies in the bath. Tea and coffee facilities just adequate. Single tea bag available. Food for dinner was average. Personel was very pleasant. Very near the centre of town.

Rooms dated, tired but clean, my stay was ruined by the overpowering smell of sewage coming from the bathroom ( check TripAdvisor as I'm not the only one complaining). I will stop at Premier Inn next time, you can almost guarantee decent quality for a similar price.
