« Great hotel in the heart of Melbourne's CBD »

Our family booked a 3 night stay in July 2017. The room was spacious, well appointed, exceptionally clean with a nice bathroom and very comfortable beds. Given it's location in the CBD, it was also quiet. Located right opposite the beautiful Treasury Gardens, and close to the free tram stop, train stations, Federation Square, restaurants and cafes. Good value for money. The hotel's restaurant provides a brilliant buffet breakfast as well as good lunch and dinner menu. Hotel staff were very helpful. The only negative was very limited hotel parking, which meant we had to park 'off-site' during our stay. In saying that, we'll certainly look to stay here again on future visits to Melbourne.

« Helpful staff, great breakfast and convenient location. »

We booked a Privilege Room which had a King Bed and balcony with lovely views over the Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens. Our room was spacious and everything was good, however the carpets were ok but really do need to be replaced soon. Our room had WiFi which was great. The room also had a Nespresso Machine (which was great to relax with a good coffee after a full day of sightseeing), two mini sweet slices, one bottle of complimentary Fiji bottled water (it would have been really great if two bottles were provided), newspapers delivered to your door every morning. We booked the Winter Offer Bed and Breakfast which was really good value, the breakfast each morning was great, lots to choose from and Gluten Free options provided. Loved that the hotel was so close to the tram, which made it really easy to get around. The hotel staff booked our premium limo service to and from the airport which made our visit to Melbourne stress free and even more enjoyable. We loved the late checkout which meant we could enjoy a leisurely Sunday breakfast without having to rush. We checked out and left our luggage with the staff at reception. When we ventured back to the hotel late in the afternoon, we were delighted to enjoy happy hour drinks at the bar while we waited for our chauffeur. This is my second stay in the Privilege Room at the Mercure Melbourne Treasury Gardens and I will return again, especially if the rooms have a bit of an update and the carpets are replaced. The happy and friendly hotel staff was one of the highlights of our stay.

« Our family really enjoyed our stay. »

Our stay was extremely pleasant, from our early arrival to park our car, finding a plate with chocolates and pears and a little gift for our children when we arrived at our room, a delicious dinner we all enjoyed and again a very pleasant breakfast. Made our visit all the more memorable!

« Room bit small but happy with service. »

One bedside light wasn't working and only 2 towels for 4 people but they addressed these concerns, when told. Room was a bit small, to fit in 2 big beds, but it was clean and nicely furnished. Loved the breakfast buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Man in buffet got me a bigger mug - when requested - to dilute my tea, otherwise it's too strong in the tiny mugs provided. He happily did it.

« Affordable, great location, included buffet breakfast, happy with our experience would stay there again for sure »

Friendly desk staff, cheap room rate for a friday night stay, really nice buffet breakfast included in the affordable room rate, close parking space, good location for tram etc. Room was really stuffy (but that's most hotels) the bathroom door was too see through as we weren't family, so we avoided using it as too unprivate. I'd definitely stay again though as was cheap and ticked most boxes.

We have stayed at your hotel many many times, the last few stays I have noticed consistency and service in general is falling. Namely, the time before this stay I received my usual welcome letter saying 'enjoy you complimentary slices', which weren't in the room and when my husband asked reception they apologised but said we will make sure we have them for you next time (not sure why they couldn't have arranged it on the spot, but I was happy enough to leave it until the next stay) this wouldn't have been noticed except that it was mentioned in the welcome letter. This time we didn't even get the usual welcome letter, there was no bottle of water in the room that I believed was standard for accor members, my husband asked about the slices this time and was told it was only for the first, fifth and tenth stay. They did deliver us a plate of chocolates that night which was greatly appreciated and really a very small price to pay given how many rooms we book regularly in your hotel. Also for this most recent booking I was unable to access your hotel from the Accor website so wasn't able to book the 2nd room half price family offer we have used in the past, and the room type I booked I thought was the type I'd stayed in previously as an Accor advantage plus member and usually have access to a coffee machine, slippers and a robe in the room. I may have been upgraded to a different room type in the past but I thought it was standard in that category of room, while this isn't an important factor it did make me question the consistency of your hotel given all the discrepancies particularly during the stays of the last 7 months.

« Good overall. Bad bathroom layout. »

Got a 'better' balcony room. Room size good. Bathroom was too small and poorly designed. No bath. Shower entry impossible without either getting water everywhere, or getting into cold shower. Very poor design. Worst be seen in hotels. Breakfast good. Check-in fine.

« We didn't like the bathroom door, no privacy when using the toilet! »

Staff were friendly, central position. No movie options was disappointing. There was an unpleasant smell in the foyer/reception area. This smell reminded me of a toilet. Investigate a better fragrance and this would make walking into reception more enjoyable. Bathroom door was not good, no privacy for using toilet!

« Not given information until asked for »

I had to ask about the free WiFi and was informed that it is only available in the lobby, then was given a sales pitch on how I could get it in my room and in the end was told about a way to get around paying for Wifi by becoming a member but I am already a member and reception did not check this when I checked-in. Also, I was not informed of a credit card surcharge on Mastercard. I checked my credit card statement before checking out and found that I was charged more than the agreed rate. It was only when I questioned it that I was told there is a surcharge. All this information should have been given to me at check-in.

The hotel was in a great spot, and the suite fit my family of five nicely. All of our requests were attended to promptly, and the buffet breakfasts were very nice. We would stay here again.

We encountered friendly and helpful staff from the time we arrived to the time we departed the Mercure. The location was great and our room had a wonderful view overlooking the Treasury Gardens.

« adequate, but I've had better »

The room was small, very poorly lit, which for someone with low vision is dangerous. The bathroom was tiny, with the towels hanging over the toilet, which is not sanitary. Room service was excellent, cannot fault at all. Much better than the choice in the restaurant downstairs. Also the service in general, and the people were lovely. I cannot fault that at all. The pillows were very hard. While it was great to have a pillow service, owing to the uncomfortable bed, I had to take a painkiller at 1.00am in the morning, and bother that poor fellow on the desk with getting me two different types of pillow. I was very tired, and didn't sleep well, because I was in so much pain all because of those logs of pillows. I could feel the springs in the bed. . The breakfast needs a lot of work. I ordered the buffet. The eggs were vile. The only thing I ate was toast and bacon. The bacon tasted like salted plastic, but it was better than those dreadful eggs. The chipolatas were undercooked, so I didn't dare try them. The coffee was awful, so I was forced to pay an extra $4.50 to have a decent coffee to start the day. the food in the restaurant is great if you like Asian, but I do not like spicy food. I had the salmon which was nice, but it was expensive. There really was not alot of choice. Parking Ina city is a problem, I understand that, so it was very good to have that arrangement with Wilson. But its a bit of a walk in the dark, and not the nicest if you are a woman travelling alone.

« Modern, clean room with adequate space and with two queen size beds, service could be improved. »

Room was good although found the beds a little bit too firm for my taste. Airconditioning wasn't working....no heating and room was cold. Had to ring reception twice over the space of 3 hours. Was advised it would be attended to, however still nothing done when we went out of the hotel for dinner in the evening. On our return found a small portable heater had been left in the room switched on...at least this took the chill off the room.

Special touches like 2nd bed being made up and the wine and chocolates were very much appreciated. We were given a room with a lovely view which was also appreciated.

« Overwhelmed with staff' s effort to meet our needs  »

When I explained I was staying overnight post surgical procedure staff went out of way to facilitate early check in and late departure. I was aware the hotel was full- no issue for staff In view of such friendly, helpful service, I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you , very much appreciated

« Good service very convenient location »

Small room, bathroom tiny! I think it is a great location, reasonably priced with breakfast but breakfast was boring after a few days, need to mix it up some. Coffee awful, machine broken had to go out and buy it. On our 4th and 5th day went out to breakfast.
