« absolutely underwhelming »

We stayed here for a portion of our honeymoon expecting the views of the lake to be absolutely stunning and the service to be top notch. This was not the case at all. We stayed 3 nights but had to move rooms on the 2nd night (because our plans had changed and we had two reservations). We moved from a lake view on the 3rd floor to a garden view on the 2nd floor. Literally the same view (of the back of another building with a slight lake view). I explained my dissatisfaction to the front desk and they did absolutely nothing to make it right. I do no recommend this hotel at all if you truly want a spectacular view of the lake, especially since you need to walk up a hill to get there (if you want to go into town for a bite, since their restaurant is quite pricey).

« Outstanding rooms, service, and location »

Fabulous stay. Lake facing rooms were spacious and well laid out, with amazing views. Staff was friendly and helpful - they even delivered a drying rack to our room for laundry. Having a guest laundry room was a plus. Perfect location - up a small hill from town to give great views of the lake, but a convenient 5-minute walk from the center of town.

« May suit some but not others »

Location is about 5 minutes from the waterfront pier and 10 minutes to the mall. There is a steep downhill towards town and steep uphill back towards the hotel. Our lakeview room had skyline windows set about five foot off the ground. There are only views of the mountain tops and sky from the bed. It was on the top floor and had air conditioning. I think this should be called a mountain view room rather than a lakeview room.Otherwise our stay was fine and we had a great time in Queenstown.

I was disappointed that a 5 star hotel did not have air conditioning! Also, the manager Kevin was pretty inflexible and not very accommodating when we tried to add an additional night to our stay. I ended up having to book online through a 3rd party service - unacceptable! I feel that I was overcharged for the additional night. The valet & bar staff were the best parts of my stay. The amenities are very limited and the hot tub garden was small and unimpressive and we couldn't get the hot tub to a pleasant temperature.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and were not disappointed. The rooms were beautifully appointed, the location was perfect - close to downtown, but not too close to be caught up in the craziness, and a general level of class and beauty to the aesthetic that you can only find in the most unique of hotels. I'd happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an upscale, beautiful place to serve as your base while in Queenstown.

Overall, it is a great hotel with fantastic staff. Two small areas for improvement would be: 1. The room was a little too warm and the fan and temperature controls were not able to adequately cool it. 2. It would be helpful to see what lake view you were getting prior to checkout as ours was partially obscured by the building in front were the upper floor's view would be uninterrupted (unsure if that would be the same price room, but it would be nice to know what view you were purchasing).
