Long time customer always clean and good customer service, the bar staff are pleasant and the breakfast was good. Walking distance to station, bus stops, darling harbour, paddy’s markets. Slight hiccup with someone booking their meal to our room so luckily I didn’t use express checkout but this was sorted without hassle by the staff member who served us.

i have stayed here once before and was impressed enough to book here again. The location suits my business activities. On this occasion I was a little disappointed with the room, in particular the room air conditioning control was of no use whatsoever. I made adjustments but it made no difference to the action of the ac in the room. I had a somewhat uncomfortable nights sleep. Also, on the second floor there is a deck where smokers can visit which would be great except that the access door is locked at night meaning guests need to go down into the street at night which is not ideal. When I did go to the deck in daylight I found that I could not sit in any of the chairs out there as they were covered in dust and looked like they hadn't been wiped down in days. It is a lovely deck. It would be great to be able to sit out there in the late afternoon and enjoy a quiet drink. No such facility .. No option for any table service. Also, It would be nice to go down to the deck for a safe secure smoke at night rather than having to go outside the security of the hotel.

Very well equipped hotel , nice attention to detail. Friendly staff. Only gripe would be not having free WiFi. Not a cheap hotel so seems tight not to offer complimentary WiFi. The first hotel this year I have found this .

I keep coming back to Mercure Sydney because I’m welcomed as a friend and regular and its location beside Central Station at Railway Square means you are free to explore all of Sydney while avoiding the traffic challenges in the CBD. « Another pleasant stay »

The Mercure Sydney is our hotel of choice whenever we stay in Sydney for two main reasons - customer service and location. During our recent trip we were once again warmly welcomed to the hotel, thanked for our loyalty and offered an upgrade which was accepted. Unfortunately, due to commitments, we weren't able to use some of the facilities such as the bar and dining, but for the fleeting visit it was, the stay was very enjoyable. We look forward to our next stay in February.

Concierge and reception staff were excellent. Poker machine room was a disgrace, housekeeping staff were very vague ....several times we requested an item for the bathroom and vary rarely we received it. Air conditioning was non existent during rhe night. Lighting in rooms was poor, shower over the bath was unacceptable, as the glass shower screen wasn't big enough to stop water from going all over the floor. The room needed a block out blind or curtain over the window, as the blind that was there did not keep the lights out. On the plus side beds were comfortable, and the room was clean. Happy hour at the bar was ok. This was in a good location near central train station. existent at night

I booked a room for 3 ladies months ago because when I enquired I was told Central Railway was only across the road where we were catching a train early the next morning and the room was explained to have 2 double beds and a sofa bed in lounge. On arrival we were shown a suite with only the 2 double beds. When we told them this wasn’t the room we ordered we were told we had to pay an extra $100 which we did. Also found the Railway was too far to take our luggage and we had to catch a cab. We did enjoy the Breakfast. We were disappointed we had to pay the extra as I had phoned a couple of times to make sure we had enough room for us.

Good location, expensive room rate due to New Year's Eve (given high demand, to be expected), however, had horrible air conditioning in one room which we asked maintenance to fix - extremely dirty filter replaced but without solving the problem. We arrived back at our room after New Year's Eve in downtown Sydney to find it still oppressively hot. When we were relocated to another room the next day it was nearly as bad for AC. Meanwhile the lobby was arctically cold. Air conditioning needs to be properly maintained and work in rooms and maintenance should ensure requests are truly fixed by rechecking.

It was great. I must thank Michael for his wonderful service. I didn’t get to my room until 8Pm night 1 to find my TV wasn’t working. He was prompt and efficient and very thoughtful. Nice to see a Menzies face as well at reception when I checked out !

« 4 days 9 keys and a wasted hour of my life »

The title says it all. I stayed for 4 days had 9 keys because they never worked. Every time I went to reception it was another 5-10 mins waiting because they never have enough staff on. The hotel is tired (it is supposedly getting renovated). It’s busy and the queues for the lifts are long.
