I've stayed at this Hotel many, many times over the years because it's easy for me to get to, easy parking & central to everything I need to do in Sydney. On my most recent stay I am happy to report that the service has improved with the reception staff & the restaurant staff extremely friendly & helpful - well done! The rooms are starting to look a bit tired but are always clean, beds are too firm for me, but the bathrooms are a good size. The air conditioner is a bit noisy & temperature didn't seem to adjust properly. I'll be so glad when they decide to remove the psychodelic purple wallpaper from the elevator waiting areas. The lobby has recently been redecorated, however it still lacks ambience. Perhaps some pot plants, subtle lighting & more attractive lounges would help. The restaurant has changed little over the years however I do appreciate the separate breakfast room for Accor members, but again this room lacks ambience. As usual the breakfast buffet is uninspiring with little variation. I miss being served a morning coffee/tea by the waiters, as now it's all self-serve. Dinner at the restaurant is good quality but I felt a tad rushed. All in all though this is a lovely Hotel that is close to buses, trains, China Town & Darling Harbour.

I was able to listen to an entire conversation staff member was having while pulling things in and out of a cupboard that was situated in the hallway. I did not want to wake up to that on a Sunday morning.

Was fine mainly Stayed on the 14th floor of Sydney Mercure in a deluxe suite Unfortunately the air con was a little noisy and sounded like it may be slightly defective Food/drink comments: - In the minibar, the fruit juice was expired by about 3 weeks - At the continental/buffet breakfast, there was baked beans one day, but no cooked tomatoes, and then the next day there was the opposite (cooked tomatoes present but no baked beans). I personally enjoy both and don’t like to have eggs without either. Mercure Swanson in Melbourne always has had both at once so I think this should happen - Also, at the breakfast, I don’t understand the point of the full jug of water sitting under the chilled water tap (near the coffee and toast stations). I don’t want a massive jug, I just want to be able to fill up a glass, but the jug was blocking the way and when I took it off, the tap started going haywire

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mercure Sydney. We were given a complimentary upgrade to Privilege floor. Most impressed with your reception service. We are Accor members. Room was larger then usual . Included were bath robes, slippers & chocolates. Dined at your restaurant. We were most impressed again. I had the best lamb I have honestly ever had. My husband had the signature dish . Steak accompanied with lobster in a special sauce. Also delicious . Khurram in restaurant was a excellent waiter & we greatly appreciated his suggestions . Look forward to returning in the near future.

This is without doubt one of the best locations in Sydney (and.......value for money!!!). If you want to sit in your hotel room and look out the window at the view..maybe not so. But if you want the City of Sydney on your door step you won't find better quality and value. Trains, buses and easy walk to everything. Spice alley just around the corner is an added bonus....!!!!!!

Pleasantly surprised to find how close to the country trains terminal the Hotel was as we came down from the central coast by train. Ryan at reception was very polite and helpful, Room was excellent, bed very comfortable. We are members of Accor plus and appreciate your hotel allowing us to use our complimentary stay option. Pool was excellent,really enjoyed this facility. Eve's bar was very good and bar staff very friendly. Breakfast was good.

Choosing Mercure Sydney was simple given the proximity to Central Station; only a 2 minute walk through the Southern Concourse after taking the Airport Train. When checking in, the reception staff were cold and unwelcoming. Neither said welcome and said that they'd be with me soon, they just gave me a quick glance and went back to doing their own stuff. After a couple of minutes, one receptionist bluntly asked me for my ID, without any apology for the delay nor even a simple welcome (which is a stark comparison to the service of Accor Hotels that I've previously experienced in Europe). However, the other staff we encountered were much friendlier and made us feel more welcome. The room was well appointed and exactly what was expected. The location alone will definitely mean I'd stay here again, and I do recommend this for people staying in Sydney given the convenience of being right next to Central. On another note, it would be nice if there was a ramp for the "rear" entrance, given that that side is closest to the Southern Concourse, and it is a bit of a hassle to bring luggage down those stairs.
