The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. The carpet and furnishings were dated and old but clean. Service was spotty and slow. The hotel was not setup for tourists. The front desk people did not have a local map or any recommendations for restaurants when asked. All they could recommend was the hotel restaurant. Very odd for an international branded hotel to have such poor service.

From the time we arrive we were treated like special guests. Staff were so obliging and always welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for the reception staff. Our room was lovely and to be upgraded on arrival was a real treat. Thankyou Novotel Glen Waverley

All aspects of service and accomodation were excellent. I wasn’t a fan of the Butcher’s Bench, as I don’t eat meet, but there were plenty of alternatives near by.

My wife, son and I are regular visitors to the Novotel Glen Waverley - great service, fantastic offers and very good amenities. There's no mini bar, but I like that - too many temptations otherwise. The front-desk staff are friendly and efficient - one of them (I don't know her name) remembered us from a previous visit and even recalled my name (how embarrassing that I don't know hers...). The lack of a spa is probably one of the only downsides of the hotel, although I think that a clock in the swimming pool would also be helpful, as would maybe be a small box of pool toys (balls, etc). The two saunas are great! Breakfast is awesome - I think it matches any five-star hotel in terms of variety, but this time the scrambled eggs were very average - an odd mix of clumpy, watery and rubbery. There was some sort of conference going on - the extra assistance given by staff to the guests was exceptional. Comfy beds and spacious rooms - water heats up very quickly, and water pressure of the showers is strong. Good/Standard TV channels, and the iPod dock (for old-school iPod Nano(?)) is handy.

« Accommodation and Food Excellent BUT Communication Poor. »

Accommodation and food was excellent BUT "The Butchers Bench" advertising was FALSE ["order two courses and receive a free house wine or beer"] was not honoured at all. It was only after I had placed our order and later asked about drinks that I was informed they no-longer provide that service to customers yet it is clearly printed on the menu in Hotel Rooms and in Restaurant itself. Furthermore, communication on booking with restaurant [make a reservation with The Butchers Bench and receive a complimentary drink] was an entire day late ... received at 10.47am on my mobile phone on the day of departure from hotel. It was very disappointing, as an Accor Plus member to have such False and poorly timed communication from an Accor Hotel.

Coming from Brisbane on a Business trip, I was greeted with respect at the Accor Premium lane. I showed my card and immediately received an apology that the member number didn't transfer from my agent's booking system to theirs. The assistant manager quickly and pleasantly checked me in and told me about the facilities of the hotel. (Later while I was at dinner I received my accord welcome gift in the room (Chocolates rather than alcohol, which was very nice) My room was a king bed with desk and bath/shower. (I'm not fond of the bath/shower combination, but it is not deal breaker.) I tried out the Gym and the pool. Both areas were clean and didn't smell. The Gym equipment was reasonably newish and no worn out so I didn't feel 'icky' while using it. The pool was surprisingly warmish and I enjoyed a private uninterrupted experience - as in I don't know that lots of people use it. There is a restaurant district just outside, but I ate at the in-house restaurant on the first night and had and very good stake. Judging by the pictures of the food that would be offered located around the hotel, what was presented on my plate in the restaurant was slightly modified. I stayed 4 nights. I could adjust the aircon temperature level, but not turn it off unless I pulled out the room key from the master switch. The bed was comfortable and I didn't hear the road or other occupant noise. Checkout was quick and painless. Lots of smiles and please come again.

More vegetarian options for breakfast! Also, i didn't like the new "theme" of the restaurant. Being a vegetarian its quite sad and distressing to see pics of animals on the walls with their body parts for dispalyed for human consumption

Fantastic. Great room - not the best view from our room this time, but hey. Friendly check in experience (the female staff member remembered my name on our next stay), fast and efficient service. Breakfast is a great selection, better than some five-star hotels, I think, although the scrambled eggs can be hit and miss (sometimes very runny). The swimming pool is good, even if there is no spa. Hot water in the shower and bath is amazingly fast. Good in-room facilities, although our son bemoaned the absence of any hot chocolate sachets.

Lovely place, however, the shower lacks the enthusiasm required to expel water from the shower head. Alternatively, I tried a bath the following day and upon removing the plug the water came rushing out the drain in the floor beside the bath. Not to worry gave the floor a mop.

Overall was satisfactory. Tidy room, good firm bed, great amenities and toiletries. Good selection of TV Channels. Great space in the room. Good view. Easy access to the Hotel and Carpark driving from the road. Easy to get out of the Carpark as well. Buffet Breakfast food is great The Dinner Menu is even better. The only low point which I think there is room for improvement is: * Coffee for Breakfast: The service Counter person asks for your Room number and right after asks "Would you like a coffee?", which sounds like music to one's ears, however she/he is not the person who makes it. The person who makes the coffee is always occupied elsewhere, turns up behind the Coffee machine 5 minutes later and starts making coffee. In my case, it took me roughly 5 minutes to gather my buffet platter for breakfast, including the 2 minutes or so in the Toaster. Sat down and started eating solids without Coffee. 3 or 4 bites later I stood up and went to make myself an instantaneous coffee at the machine in the corner, came back to my table and had the rest of the food with Coffee, as it should be. When my Pre-ordered Coffee hit the top of the list and got finally delivered to the Table, I was standing up off the Table because I had finished. Needless to say, I left the freshly made coffee on the table untouched. Please, a hot coffee sip goes before, and must always be before the first bite of solid food. This is especially true early in the morning for breakfast. I have also noticed this poor practice trending in a Novotel Hotel in New Zealand. I overhead an old couple, sitting 2 tables away from me, complaining about exactly the same. This is an unforgivable operational mistake in my opinion. Suggestion: If you are going to offer Coffee at the reception counter for breakfast to hungry passengers with low sugar levels and half awake, please make sure there is a person behind the Coffee machine making coffee when the "Would you like a Coffee?" questions pops up. Other than this, the overall experience was satisfactory. Regards, Rod. 04…
