« Some Aspects of Service Sadly Missing »

The front desk were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they worked hard to resolve the issues we encountered. We weren’t given the room upgrade we asked for simply because the hotel was full but that’s not really an issue. We were given a delicious cake on arrival, the room was always clean when we returned etc. We had issues with the following. 1. A deep tissue massage my partner had booked was not in fact a deep tissue massage. At €130 it should have been a thorough deep tissue massage not a swathe of oil and some light rubbing. The front desk tried to resolve this for us but the authority on the matter was the Spa manager who was only interested in offering a “Sea Weed Wrap” rather than the refund we would expect. We were offered a derisory 10% refund which doesn’t address the matter 2. The front desk gave us the voucher for a welcome drink. Unfortunately, we did not get to enjoy this as the main bar was seldom staffed, and the bar staff at the pool bar would not accept the voucher 3. We needed to leave a plastic card in the socket in the room in order for our electronic devices to charge. One evening we left a driving licence in the socket while we were at dinner. We returned to find that a member of staff had taken it. Again the front desk worked hard and effectively to resolve the situation and we were given a letter of apology but it was an unnecessary stressor in the first place. This was our third visit to this hotel and we have never before had such an experience there.

Hotel in an excellent location however interior was dated and in need of upgrade. Staff all excellent and very friendly however on three occasions room was opened by staff while we were still in bed - with do not disturb sign on door. Food and drink all excellent.

« Not as good as last year.... »

Air-conditioning in one room was not satisfactory and the room smelt of cigarette smoke. Restaurant food was monotonous, same menu offered at lunchtime and evening. Breakfast also limited, some days no grapefruit, no natural yoghurt and no brown bread. Breakfast better at the weekends as if the weekend guests deserved better treatment. We stayed for 10 days (over two weekends)

Not a 5* experience. Little and slow service at the pool, bartenders ‘tour’ ones in a long while and during lunch, one could be waiting forever to order a drink/snack. Pooltender was courteous and helpful. Room and accomodation is rather basic, room cleaning is good but minibar was not always refilled, a complementary bottle of water each day is standard in all 5* hotels we stayed at, here we only received a bottle of water twice: upon arrival and the one but last day. Coffee Machine did not work which we flagged via a note, the cleaning staff acknowledged the malfunctioning writing back ‘OK’ on the note but no follow-up was made or an intention to replace it. The breakfast was ok but the breakfast room was over-crowed with waiting lines to be seated and also around the buffet. breakfast js only served until 10am... People are on holiday and sleeping a little longer is part of the holiday experience. If breakfast would be served a little longer perhaps guests would feel less rushed and would take the time to get dressed instead of joining breakfast in hotel bathrobes. Spa facilities are good and a broad range of treatments is available. Service, accomodation, food, facilities, cleanness of araes: not 5*.

The room was tired. The air-conditioning in my room didn’t work. I was told that the hotel was fully booked that night so the front desk could not relocate me. So I had to ask for an electric fan instead. The staff was helpful. The hotel as a Sofitel is disappointing. Might have helped with the guest’s expectation if it was a Pullman.
