« Comfortable bed in a hotel in a very central location »

Our welcome was very good but we were told that our stay was booked on a room only basis, on checking our booking found that we were fully booked and paid for breakfast! Over the weekend the breakfast was quite good, the scrambled egg looked it was made with dried egg and didn't look that appetising. Good selection of pastries Saturday and Sunday but on Monday there were no croissants and the bacon and sausages were cold and the bread that had been put out was hot on the outside but still frozen in the middle. this was mentioned to a member of staff who disappeared into the kitchen but made no comment and the bread was not changed. Overall we had a pleasant stay in a city which was buzzing!

« Great location »

Check in went smoothly and staff explained where everything was located at the hotel. Perfect location for a stay. Enjoyed our welcome drinks.

« Short stay for military tattoo August 2018 »

Staff friendly, rooms modern and great breakfast. Could not fault the location for convenience. If you gave never stayed in Edinburgh thus would be a great place to start, the area is very hilly with lots of steps but the hotel location means you don't have far to go to put your feet up after a day or evening out.

The hotel was clean, staff where very nice but a bit slow at serving you . I was very disappointed in the rooms there where no drawers to put anything in, not enough space to put clothes ,only one chair for two people , the shower is very high for a disabled person to step into . The hotel was ok for a couple of nights but wouldn't want to stay for a week .

« On-line check in before arrival great, room modern and clean, overall experience excellent. »

Requested a quite room on high floor and room was exactly what we wanted. Clean, modern and plenty of room. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful.

« Not really up to expectations »

Room not up to expectations - rather cramped and seemed to be designed for disabled guests as WC was very high (my feet couldn't touch the ground !), the wash-basin very low indeed (just above knee level), and the extractor fan didn't work. The latter was all the more noticeable as the bathroom opened directly onto the bed area so any odours drifted straight into it. It would be nicer for guests paying to have the ground-floor seating area to themselves - there were a lot of occasions where people came in from the street, fed their babies & children, made a lot of noise (quite a lot of swearing), leaving very little space for guests of the hotel to enjoy their stay.

« Good Choice »

A well positioned hotel for access to all local Edinburgh attractions, also very close to Waverley Rail Station. I asked for a quiet room and was allocated a room at the rear of the hotel on the 5th floor, it was indeed quiet and suited my needs. The room was clean and comfortable with hot drink facilies available. I had the option to forego daily room cleaning and towel change, which I too up and was rewarded with a £5 voucher to spend in the hotel, great idea to save resources. The staff were all friendly and most helpful, offering assistance and advice. If I return to Edinburgh I will definitely stay at this hotel.

« Efficient and friendly hotel which I use whenever in Edinburgh »

No problems as usual but more expensive as coincided with Edinburgh Festival.

« Central, good staff, bad mattress and pillows. »

It was busy as Fringe Festival, price was £200 which is quite expensive for Ibis Hotels. The check in process was fine, staff were very friendly and efficient. The bedroom overlooked the square, I only noticed the ear plugs the day after which was a shame as I would have used them. I had a twin room so the beds were tiny, mattress was poor quality and the pillows were awful. Hard is the only description for them. Most things can be forgiven if you have a comfortable bed with decent duvet and pillows! Didn't eat breakfast as felt it was over priced for what was on offer.

« The staff was friendly, helpful and acccommodating, however the room was very small. »

We chose your hotel because of its proximity to Waverly Station. We had an unusual amount of luggage and were concerned about getting to the train station the next day in time. The staff was most helpful in offering their advice and appropriate route. In the end, we had the morning staff arrange a taxi for us. There was a lot of activity and noise due to the Fringe festival.

We had a lovely time. The hotel was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were lovely with plenty of choice. Security was good - it was good to know that only people with key cards could access the accommodation.

« At the heart of the city »

a small, well situated hotel, right in the heart of things - clean rooms, well organised and efficient staff go out of their way to help.would certainly use this hotel again. Spent time here just before the fringe event - so Edinburgh was busy.

Great location Very noisy at night outside. Very disturbed nights both nights. But it is the festival!

« Compact functional room in ideal position for tourists. »

We really enjoyed our stay here, right in the area we wanted to explore. Our room, though compact, maximised the space really well and we were impressed with a number of small but important things that are often annoyingly lacking in hotel stays. For example a power point near a full length mirror, windows that will open enough to provide fresh air (and giving a nice view over the old historic Edinburgh rooftops). The bathroom had ample hanging space for towels and clothing, and places for toiletries in the shower. There was a tall semi-open area which had hanging and shelved areas for clothing, and doubled as an area for storing suitcases, besides a designated suitcase ‘table’. Most impressive to us was the provision of a chunky power point cube on a long lead that allowed us to charge a number of devices at once in a flexible area. Just some of the small but practical things that can make a stay so much easier and satisfying. We were also pleased with the breakfasts here, which offered nice crusty bread, besides the usually provided sliced variety, and a coffee machine that gave us lattes just the way we like them!
