Initially staff not very helpful. No parking spaces and when asked did not suggest where I could park publicly. Room, stairway and hall very old with worn, dirty, stained carpets. I had made the choice to pay more than the ibis but wish I had stayed there.

I went with a friend to watch Rennes V PSG and stayed at the Mercure Place Bretagne. The rooms we had were good (a little dated), clean and comfy. My toilet was broken and quick as a flash they moved me to another room which had just recently been updated. It was amazing! The staff were friendly and very professional. The location of the hotel is excellent everything is within walking distance and there is a small car park too. Good WIFI. Good location. Good Staff. Good breakfast. Good value! Would recommend and will definitely stay there again. Allez Rennes!

Once we had navigated the myriad of one way streets, we parked up off-street and booked in. We were expected so all went very smoothly. The room was clean and modern with all necessary facilities required for a good nights rest. I had a problem in that I had left my medicine in a hotel frig in Tours but the receptionist very helpfully telephoned them and asked them to dispose of it. No fuss, no problem and very helpful. Good nights sleep in preparation for a long day of travelling home to UK

This visit was the worst at any mercury, I did not realize that there was no bar or anything like that when I booked, the room was ok, the rest was not up to my expectations. Breakfast was cold even the warm food

I was allocated a very noisy room the last of the late night revellers passing my window around 07.00. The room was not ready by 14.00 I was told quite rudely that check in was 15.00.

Very good. Booked for an overnight stop on route to holiday. Superb location in centre if town. Very helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Room was functional and very clean but away from reception the hotel was looking a little old and tired.

small parking at the rear of the hotel, but oke to park my car. Checking was very good. Gave my name and received my key. Nothing else, just the way I like it. Room is a bit outdated, renovation (especially the bathroom) would help to restore Mercure name as quality hotel. Location of room was fine, in the corner. Check our was easy.

Parked my car in the secured parking area. Received immediately key to my room, no difficulty or delay at checkin. I actual really got a key, no plastic. Old style entry. Location of my room in the corner of the building. Room was clean. Complimentary coffee. Room and bathroom could get a renovation. Breakfast is complete.

The hotel was comfortable. The car park wasn't very well signposted. The gentleman on reception on arrival was very helpful and recommended an excellent restaurant. The shower needs attention as it kept dropping down.

« Don’t stay on Friday or Saturday! »

We booked a room for 2 people for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday nights). We arrived and were given a room with only one bath towel. We were given an extra towel very quickly but then noticed that there was no hairdryer. We asked for one and we’re told that it would be there shortly. Later that evening, we were told that we would have to ask to change rooms in the morning when the morning reception staff would be there (because the hair dryer base unit was wall mounted). When we asked in the morning we were immediately given a hairdryer from the cupboard in reception. Clearly, there is no communication or training of staff. Worse was to come. We heard some music when we went to bed on Friday night, but it got louder and seemed as if the speakers were in our room. It was impossible to sleep. The music stopped after 1am but then we heard people shouting, laughing and screaming for half an hour while they left. When we complained to reception on Saturday morning we were told that ‘the young liketo dance’! No option to change room. Saturday night was exactly the same. Phoned reception to complain and were told that reception would stop it immediately. Needless to say it didn’t stop until 1:30am. We then had another half an hour of shouting and laughing as the people left the club beneath us. There seemed to be no understanding of the extent of the problem by the hotel staff (reception is not close to the brasserie/club which is next door on the ground floor but underneath the first floor where we we were). I’d strongly recommend that you do NOT stay in the hotel at the weekend.. It would have been nice if the staff cared, but they don’t. It’s. the worst Mercure that we have stayed in

« Very good location for city centre but hotel could do with refurbishment. »

We chose this hotel because of its location even though we knew from other reviews not to expect too much. We wanted to be in the centre of Rennes with secure parking and the hotel certainly provided that. However the downside was a lot of street noise at night, made worse by having to keep the window open to get any ventilation. The building is old and probably difficult to upgrade, and the hotel is showing its age. Wifi was not good in the room. But the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The buffet breakfast is overpriced but there is an "express" option of juice, coffee and croissants in the small bar area which was good value.

The staff were very helpful especially Heloise and the young man who helped check us in. However the overall hotel is old and there was no aircon.

« Very Pleasant Stay »

We easily found the Hotel which was a short walk from the airport bus drop-off point at the Place Republique. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and our room was comfortable and quiet. The air conditioning worked( Which was good as it was quite warm)and was not noisy. Consequently we enjoyed a good nights sleep. The breakfast was satisfactory. The Hotel was within walking distance of the Metro, Bus and Train stations and most of the places we wanted to visit were easy to reach on foot. All in all we had a lovely stay at this hotel before embarking on the next stage of our journey.
