I liked the location in Wellington and found it convenient. The room is very tastefully furnished, everything seems near to new and the bed was really comfortable. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful.

My first time staying at Grand Mercure WLG. Room was very clean and it was quiet too. Bed was very comfortable, TV and showers and tabs worked well. Operators were professional and kind. My do-not-disturb sign was honoured, and when I asked for some cutlery it was delivered to room promptly and kindly (THANK YOU). I was a little bit disappointed to find there were no toothbrush/toothpaste in the room, but it was delivered promptly when I asked. My check-in was OK, check-out was better. The person who did my check-out was very professional and I appreciated that. I wish I had seen his name! I'd be happy to return to GM WLG.

All the staff ( that’s from the reception to restaurant and to every staff member we met) were particularly warm and friendly, helpful and professional. One of the staff saw us struggling with the card operated lift card and immediately asked if he could help and he did so without any fuss or bother. We expected the room to be clean and stylish and that did not disappoint. It had a green outlook which was pleasing and it was quiet as well as having a comfy bed. There were extras as well as the usual tea/coffee making facilities. We realise that you are in the process of recycling etc. It must be hard as we realise recycling is in progress however I think choosing paper rather than the plastic teabags would be good. Plunger coffee would be a bonus, but maybe that is too difficult. We also liked the recycling and non wasteful washing suggestions. These were polite and not preachy. The bar food was good and the breakfast was particularly wonderful with again great staff. We loved the swim and sauna too. Thank you fir a great stay.

There was only one receptionist so it took long to check in and checkout. Room service toasted sandwich was disgusting and the fries tasted like they had been fried hours before, soggy and very oily.

Check in was friendly and efficient. Lobby looked modern and welcoming. Liked the touch of the tea and biscuits at the entrance. The room was clean. Liked the 'VIP's lift to avoid the steep street. Liked happy hour. Breakfast was nice, we had the $1 breakfasts which are great! We stayed 2 nights. Our room was cleaned on the first morning while we were at breakfast which was a nice surprise.

The room was not set up as requested and we had to be moved to another room. You need to stock a Pinot Gris wine, not having one is unacceptable for a Hotel of this class and brand.
