« A great way to start our first Wellington visit »

Room was comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. Only gripe would be the absence of drawers for unpacking and limited wardrobe space mainly due to the towelling bathrobes hanging there. Food was very good and staff were excellent.

« Beautiful Property/ staff needs more training »

This property is beautiful. We were able to use the pool and sauna this time which we will recommend to our friends. When we arrived, the reception staff didn't welcome us. the restaurant and bar staff needs more training, the service was too slow. Upon check out, Lisa and Emmet were kind and very professional. from car valet to a great dinner , fantastic bed all one could ask for. Refurbishment well done except for bathroom door gap!! Breakfast good but lacked poached eggs, & marmalade. Impressed with water bottle in the car when leaving, and the welcome card on arrival.

« Overall great, inexperience of restaurant servers is an area for improvement »

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 3 years. I was traveling to Wellington one week a month, now its a little less. I really like the hotel, location in city, and food is very good. A few little things that could be improved: - In the restaurant, I repeatedly showed up for breakfast or lunch and there was nobody near the entrance or watching it. The team need to keep vigilant for arrivals. - Also in the restaurant, it is very irritating to continually hear the Chef call out 'service' to get the serving staff to come over to the food counter, collect plates, and serve them to tables. After they have called twice, they thing start to ring a bell 'ding'. Very annoying. The food is great and innovatively presented on the plate. View is great. I would bring business partners to this little known restaurant, but I can't tolerate this 'service' and bell ringing. This should be easy to address. It relates to my first point. If I was a waiting person at the restaurant I'd be keeping an eye out for plates being placed up on the counter. Or, have a visual flag or a silent paging system the wait staff have on their belt to alert them to food being ready. This should be an easy problem to solve. The front desk staff are excellent. When someone asks for a taxi to be ordered, get their name and tell the taxi company who the taxi is for. Otherwise its awkward for guests as we don't know if the taxi arriving is for us or another party. I had laundry done during my stay, I dropped it off at front desk well before the 8:30am cut off. It didn't come back that night, it came back the next night. This could be very problematic for me. I really like the hotel and will be back in late March for a week. It will be interesting to see if these small issues, particularly the restaurant can be addressed.
