Lovely place, good beds, overall very good Didnt like the nosey heater, and I sliped in the shower, need abit of grip on floor when water there. Loved the food but abit expenisive overall would stay again

« A pleasure stay in capital city »

Stayed here 2 nights for an weekend holiday with my family. Room was great , been upgrade to executive room but I feel a bit small so, upgrade to a suite will a small fee. Special thanks the reception girl , cannot remember her name but she made a great arrangement for us also borrow us the iPhone charger . Hotel have a smwimming pool also sauna room. Which Sofitel don’t even have a swimming pool. There is also some down side here, when we relocate to suite , there is no complimentary bottled water in there both days. But pre-allocated room has 2 bottles of drinking water. And also executive room using original Nespreeso capsule but suite actually using the compatible one( third party one), I don’t understand why suites aminities is lower lever than executive room. Also the air-con have pretty loud noise when switch on and off. I don’t complain about these , but for an frequently travelers , I suppose to give advise to hotel , to let improve make it better.

The most comfortable bed I have slept in. Great choice of foods for Breakfast. Easy walk into the city took10 to 15 minutes. Good selection of teas and coffees in room. Expansive view of hills and old part of city from our room on 6th floor. Quiet, clean and modern.

« Bad Food »

Were not very picky eaters however the food was bland. Small serving of fries with the "burger" but the white sauce was so bland im not sure what it was, This was the First time ever we have not eaten our breakfast. Eggs went great sausage was ok but the baccon was tastless. Everything was cold. The pancakes were hard.

« Excellent service and comfort »

The room we had was very comfortable, clean and had all the standard amenities as well as luxury ones such as usb ports next to the bed, bath robes and room slippers. We enjoyed the heated indoor pool and sauna which were a little on the small side but reasonable considering the location and the size of the hotel. We did not dine at the restaurant and bar but it looked really nice. Service provided at the hotel was always prompt and excellent. I like how there is a back entrance for guests to get to the city faster. It would be great if the $30/night valet parking was not the only parking option but I guess that is the only way around limited onsite parking. We will definitely be staying here again if we come to Wellington.

« Comfortable Boutique feel hotel »

We enjoyed our first stay at the Grand Mecure Wellington. Although it is situated within walking distance from the CBD, it is a steep up hill walk, but it was close to Victoria University which was ideal for us visiting our daughter. We were upgraded on arrival which was a lovely surprise. We enjoyed a welcome drink by the gas fireplace and had a delicious dinner in the dining room overlooking the city. The bed in the executive room was very comfortable. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Would stay again.

Didn’t realise when I booked that it was the old Mercure that has been refurbished. Looks nice but could do with a light above the kitchenette as the lighting is minimal and dim. Heat/air con unit is very loud through the night. We got the king suite and I had expected it would be bigger, it’s more a one bedroom unit not so much a ‘suite’.

A warm welcome. Quick and efficient check-in. Comfortable room and bed. The only issue we had was controlling the lights from the bedside switches. Breakfast was really good - but no warm plates for hot items.
