« Perfect for a short break in Nantes »

Very pleasant hotel. All the comfort you may need...even a hairdresser on site. Convenient to river banks and Castle. Efficient professional friendly staff. I give only 9 stars because it doesn't seem to have a view. Other than that very good.

Our check-in was so problematic. We spent half an hour arguing with the reception staff. What happened was we booked and paid our room through Agoda and but the service staff claimed to have been unable to get payment from Agoda and said she will have to charge us. We protested as this was between the hotel and Agoda, nothing to do with us since we’ve already paid. The lady insisted that WE contact Agoda to resolve this. We refused as the hotel should take it upon themselves to resolve it. We even had to provide the number to her as she said they don’t have the customer service number and even elaborated that this was their first time working with Agoda. How did the hotel’s agreement with booking sites become the guests’ problem to resolve, esp since we had alrd shown proof (Agoda confirmation and personal bank statement) that the room was fully paid. She finally reached them and resolved it at her end. Sucess! So why didn’t the hotel think of calling Agoda and resolving this in the first place? Rather than tell us we will be charged since they couldn’t get payment! Seriously horrible customer relations. It didn’t help that the lady who served us was an emotionless cold fish who kept repeating that nothing could be done except to charge us upon check out. Later in the day, I received an email with a pro forma invoice for breakfast and city tax. Breakfast? We weren’t planning on having any, why did the hotel assume we would? Again I had to deal with the same lady and clarify we weren’t going to have breakfast in the hotel. And again she gave me a look that said “why wouldn’t you be having breakfast??” Why do hotels like these make guests grieve unnecessarily over nothing? On a brighter note, we were served on another occasion by another amazing lady who was friendly and polite and helpful.

Room was nice and comfortable. Difficult to use laptop with such as low chair. I didn't like the fact that soap was replaced every day when i had barely use it. I had to hide it. Breakfast was nice although i wanted some brown bread to toast but there wasn't any. The soya milk was very nice and it was good to have some.

Our room (508) was very comfortable, but we could not understand why there was no drawer space. We stayed four nights and carried items of clothing which required a drawer. Surely we are not alone in this? Otherwise, our experience was very pleasant.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was really nice but a bit expensive (25euros). Would be nice to have some cheaper options if people want smaller breakfast. However, everything I tasted was really good! The gym is open 24/7 which is amazing but there is no proper running machine, TV not working on the second day, no towels on the first day and no products and paper to clean the machine before and after you exercised on them.

« Very central to city centre. »

Entry with a car through pedestrian area took much longer than we had hoped, once this was completed, the reception team were fantastic and all of the staff encountered were wonderful. The car park has restricted space, most especially with a cycle carrier on the rear of the car, thankfully there was a space just long enough, with less than half a metre protruding from the bay. The room was generally quiet, extremely well presented and appointed. Breakfast had a wide selection of choices, all of those my wife and myself had, were very good. Checking out was quick and simple, as was leaving the pedestrian, although it was a Sunday afternoon, so few people in the area. Will definitely use this hotel again, when either passing through Nantes or for a City Break.

« Wonderful stay »

After one or two not so good Accor hotels during our recent visit to France, this was a revelation. Not only had the management at Nantes read the comments we had left but they took steps to make sure we were happy at their hotel. We received a delightful upgrade and had a detailed conversation with one of the management team about the reasons for our previous unhappiness, all of which was taken on board. Brilliant. The welcome was first class, from reception onwards. We shall certainly stay in Mercure Nantes again.

Very nice hotel ideally located in the centre of town. However our experience would have been improved if on booking we had been asked if we were travelling by car, then been provided with the access code to enter the pedestrianised area. Or in fact been instructed to ring the hotel prior to arriving to obtain the code. Fortunately there were 4 of us travelling and so we managed to leave one of us with the car and proceed on foot to the hotel to ask how to bring the car to the car park. all in all we spent 40 minutes trying to establish this.
