« Strange hotel »

The hotel is right on top of a train station. I was the lucky one from the group I was with as I was on the 6th floor and could hear the trains but not as bad as those on the lower floor. There is a bar in reception but if you want a drink they have to call some one to come and serve you! We ate in the restaurant and I have to say that I have never had bad food in France in all my years of visiting here but the food in this restaurant was awful and my fellow colleagues said they didn't rate theirs either. I had a Lamb dish and the lamb was like pieces of hard rock and not at all nice. The creme brulee was like chewing gum with a very burnt top. The breakfast was ok

« Every train passing under the hotel was heard »

The hotel and the was in general hood and the personell was helpful. I stayed on 5th floor in a Privelige Room. Every train passing by in the tunnel under the hotel every 2 minutes was heard and felt... The bed was quite hard and the springs in the bed felt not so good... I chose to take the breakfast for 18.9 euro. A price of 9 euro would have been more appropriate for the small size buffet.

My stay was business related and was prepaid by the company. However, during the check-in I was asked to leave deposit of 400 Eur for reasons unknown to me (also because the rest of my colleagues were not asked to leave such a deposit). Naturally I refused and after some back and forth with the receptionist (whose level of English did not help me understand what was going on) it turned out everything was taken care of and I did not actually need to provide any deposit.

Guest rooms (second building) and facilities do not match the minimum standards of MERCURE hotel, and definitely not a 4 stars type hotel. However you charge a premium price rate for the room of €208.

« High range stay, but difficult to have a rest. »

Good experience overall, in line with the price of the booking. However, the fact that the hotel is settled straight on the top of a RER station, makes the room noisy from 4:30 AM till midnight. I did not have a good sleep at all and went back exhausted.

This break was a present for my partner. I contacted the hotel ahead of our stay to ask if the hotel could do something special for her, arrange for early check in and a city view room. This was kindly arranged for us. Upon arrival, we were confused by the check in/reception.....it was like checking in at the bar....very strange. The reception person Francois, whilst polite, hardly spoke English and is not an ideal front of house person. When shown to our room, we were disappointed that there was no city view, instead it overlooked the metro station. The temperature of the room was very hot and the thermostat in the room turned off, so we couldn't have cool air in the room. This meant we had to leave our window open, where we could hear the city noise. No one told us the hotel was built directly on top of the RER train/Metro station. This meant we could hear and feel every train going through the station. Later during the evening of our first night, all the power to the TV, fridge, coffee machine and phone charger was tripped out. Although it got fixed the next day, this was another disappointment. The breakfast was not great, limited selection and definitely not of 4 star standard that I've experienced at other hotels, in fact, it was at best.....average. The only real highlight was the treat laid on for my partner, which was a plate of fruit, macroons and tarts. We really appreciated this and it was a lovely touch, but sadly let down by everything else. I'm afraid that the hotel would need to make significant improvements before we stayed at another Mercure hotel. This was supposed to be a special weekend which was sadly marred by the issues highlighted and ruined by the Paris riots. If I were Mercure, I would want to put this right and either compensate us or invite us back for a better experience later in the year, free of charge. Kind regards, Sean B. and Fiona Morris.

Good Hotel for a buseniss stay. Short 20 min walk from La Defense center. Or 1 stop on the red line.Why I take this hotel sometimes is to alter from the others in La Defense. It has a easy nice walk and after work there are plenty bars )after work drink' or restaurants on your way

« Nice room, terrible taxi service - doesn't suit people coming for work. »

As a working visitor I needed a comfortable room and comfortable transit from hotel to Office that I could pay by corporate card for. The room was good, quiet and comfortable, but the taxi was extremely problematic. I ordered a taxi each morning from the reception. On the first day it was ok, on the second day it was long, but the third day was the worst taxi experience I have ever had. Second day: The receptionist took my order and promised it'll be 10 minutes, but it took 20. But the third day was the worst: another customer took my taxi, I was placed in another one (took longer), but as this second taxi was about to depart with me in it the driver suddenly asked me to leave and take a third taxi (no apologies, I had to leave in embarrassment in frond of other people waiting), and finally the last taxi didn't have a card terminal, and I didn't even have enough cash on me to pay and specifically asked for the terminal. This should never repeat to another customer, please take measures to re-organize the system you use for tracking taxi orders. Here are the details of the third day. A customer who came to the reception later than me got into the first taxi that arrived first. I waited for a long time and then checked with the receptionist. She seemed puzzled and briefly said that I should have already been in the taxi. Two more taxis came and both of them were for customers with other room numbers. But it wasn't all: the receptionist pointed me to another taxi, I went there, talked to the driver, he came for a person from another room. I informed him the receptionist said I should go to his taxi. He went out to talk to the receptionist, came back, took my luggage and let me in. As we were about to leave another man comes. They talk with the driver, then the driver asked me to leave (no apologies). I leave for the third taxi, already quite emotional. Still no apologies. When we arrived, I learned he had no card terminal, and I didn't have cash so I asked for the terminal at the reception when I was ordering. This made me even more embarrassed. I made a call to the quality control afterwards, they promised to write me an e-mail, but I received nothing. I just wanted to know that proper measures were taken. I felt it was extremely unfair that the first driver left with another customer without checking the room number, and that I got off the second taxi for that very reason, when I have already lost more time that was needed.

We paid for and expected our Privelage rooms to be available on arrival. They were not and the receptionist and manager had to scramble to get these for us, only available the day after.

« Comfortable, good food - noisy (not due to trains) »

There was a regular ‘mechanical’ noise outside my room - possibly through the night but definitely as a tried to fall asleep and from very early when I woke up. It was not the noise of trains, it was on the hotel floor. I mentioned this at checkout, no explanation (or apology) was given. The hotel was otherwise fine and convenient for where I needed to get to but this noise would deter me from staying again or from recommending to others.
