Room was small for the cost and breakfast was poor. I had to ask receptionist to put out fruit salad and cold meat. She was not happy to do this as I guess it was not her job.

The staff were good and friendly. There was no air conditioning though and I would have expected that for the price. The carpet felt and looked dirty, the cupboard area worn and didn’t feel nice. The bathroom was ok. All in all it was ok but I wouldn’t want to stay there for more than one night. The breakfast was lovely.

I have written previous satisfaction surveys on the Ibis Styles at Ouistreham and been thanked for the positive comments. This indicates to me that the feedback was not read carefully, if at all. After the latest stay, I feel that it is responsible to give a balanced view. We stay at many ibis hotels, often at the Budget brand locations. There is a significant price premium to stay at this Styles and I felt it fair to compare the hotel with Ibis Budget to try to explain the price premium. Ouistreham better than an Ibis Budget 1 The towels are better Ouistreham inferior to an Ibis Budget 1 The contact card system is cumbersome and inferior to the keypads used at budget hotels. The rooms are for two persons, yet only one card is issued. It is necessary to have the card carried on the person who leaves the room, there is no physical item required by the keypad method. 2 The room size is the same or smaller than the Ibis Budget hotels we have stayed at. 3 The curious cabin room shape at Ouistreham is inferior to the conventional arrangement at Budget hotels. We felt compelled to rearrange a lot of the items in order to attain some functionality in the room and be able to sit at a table to use our laptop. 4 There is no sensible place provided in the accommodation to deploy a computer. The Ibis Budget hotels all have a small and functional desk space with electricity sockets conveniently placed. 5 The electricity sockets in the room are in awkward locations. 6 The window is absolutely ridiculously positioned. It cannot be fully opened. The Ibis Budget windows are superior because they occupy a central position on walls. All the window fully faces the body of the room. The windows have blinds with 3 positions available. None of these simple functional features apply to this Styles hotel. 7 The mirror is behind the window and this makes it inconvenient to actually use. 8 The car park arrangement at the St Quentin Ibis Budget is both cheaper and superior with better security. 9 The room at the Ibis Budget at Orange was fitted with an easy to use and effective Clim. The Styles at Ouistreham does not have any clim in the room. In the recent summer weather, we were advised to leave the window open but this was far too noisy next to the busy road and port. 10 The room, on a visit in July, felt gloomy and stuffy. All the Ibis Budget rooms have felt light and airy, even though the overall dimension have sometimes been limited. 11 The Ibis Budget hotels have purpose built shower cubicles. This Styles had an adapted bath space. It was necessary to step over the side of the bath to use the shower. This is inhibiting to people with limited mobility and small children. 12 The mode of the shower was primitive and slippery in use. 13 The shower screen was inadequate in size to deflect the water from the shower head. The floor quickly became very wet. 14 The bath taps lacked any indication of direction for hot and cold supply. 15 The hair dryer was poorly positioned over the toilet. It was necessary to stretch the cable extensively to reach one's head. 16 We never found a switch for the extractor unit within a totally enclosed bathroom. 17 There was a heater unit in the bathroom for when the prevailing weather was cool. There was no provision for when the weather was at the other extreme of being hot. 18 The staff at Ibis Budget hotels have consistently been more welcoming than at the Ibis Styles at Ouistreham. 19 The Budget hotels have an adequate simple TV paper in each room, not provided in a heap at the end of the corridor as in the Styles. It does not matter to us because we do not use the television, but other guests, I believe, would find it more convenient to have the paper in the room. If the Ibis Styles Ouistreham was not located within sight of the Ferry Terminal, I would find it hard to justify staying at the hotel, as compared with say, Ibis Budget at Bayeux or Flers. I have stayed at both and they have been comfortable with obliging staff.

We not all your request and I think it's not necessy to answer at all. So I give you any explications : - Our reception is open 24h/24h so our personnal is at your disposition if you need something (like an second key or if you have a problem in the room) - We can understand that you find our room is small but we can't change the structure of tue hotel so we choose to transform our room in cabin with "ferry boat" spirit.We have room with big window (you can ask when you make the booking). - We propose a room, just near the bar, if the guest need a more place to work. - The miror in front of window is for the light and the view. In the room, there is a big mirror in front of the bathroom. - For the private parking, has a gate and cameras, or we have a free parking in front of the hotel. - We understand that the lack of air conditionning has disppointed you and we apologize but we have guest that don't like the air conditionning and our cabins are too narrow to accomodate air conditioning system. - For information, we have 2 rooms adapted for person with reduced mobility and family room or room for 3 people. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. And I'm sorry if my English is not perfect.... « Disappointing - not worthy of the 'Styles' branding »

Having stayed at an Ibis Styles in Tours the previous year I had no hesitation in booking another Ibis Styles. However, this hotel does not seem worthy of the 'Styles' branding. The room was small for a triple (you could only just open the door without it banging on the bed) and a bit tired looking - slightly bubbled wall paper, and the shower room was similarly cramped. We went downstairs for a drink and everything was dim and quiet - curtains drawn and no lights on. There only appeared to be one staff member in the whole place, and there is no proper restaurant - just a very limited menu which I am assuming must all be pre-prepared since there was no sign of any restaurant staff anywhere (and we stayed on a Saturday night). On the plus side - breakfast was good - plenty of choice and the restaurant area was a bit brighter and more cheerful in the morning. There was nothing to really complain about - but compared to my previous experience of an Ibis styles where there was even a beautiful garden and a pool, my little boy was given a goodie bag and there was a bright, cheerful play area, a pleasant restaurant with a full menu and a spacious family room this was disappointing and I definitely wouldn't stay here again. If it was an Ibis Budget - I think that would be fair, but it bears no resemblance to the Styles in Tours - and I would have expected more consistency in a large chain like Ibis. We stayed at an independent 3 star hotel for only 30 Euros more earlier in the holiday and had a wonderful family room with a luxurious huge wet room, terrace on to the garden, a pool and breakfast as good as here, and the previous year in Benouville (about 10 minutes drive from this Ibis) we stayed at La Glycine for the same cost as this hotel and had a much more pleasant room and communal areas. Just disappointed that this one didn't live up to my expectations after my previous experience of this brand.

i like staying at this hotel. it is ideal for the ferry port. the rooms are nice, bright airy & clean. staff are always friendly & helpful. I have 2 minor problems with this hotel. 1) the restaurant is not open of a weekend, 2) breakfast is included in the price - I don't have time for breakfast as I need to catch the early morning ferry, plus my breakfast is included in the price of my ferry ticket.

I was surprised by how small and quirky the room was but a very comfortable bed and it was quiet. The bathroom was great spacious and a great independent shower. The breakfast had a good choice , I liked the fresh sqee zed orange juice especially.

« More than fine for a one night stop-over »

Arrival through the security gates went very smoothly, as in previous stays here, a very good 'check-in' at reception & a room at the front overlooking the port, a little on the basic side, although more than adequate. Being served at the bar initially by a charming lady went superbly, unfortunately after she had left, the next visit was not as I've been accustomed to over the great many years I've stayed at Accor Group hotels, as the younger of the two ladies I met (not Caucasian), earlier this one the receptionist , was now serving at the bar - with very obvious annoyance at doing so, as despite seeing me waiting at the bar, she ignored me for a great many minutes, maybe hoping that I would go away, until finally and with reluctance, I rang the bell on the counter, which she finally responded to begrudgingly! Some of my fellow guests who I had met in the lounge area adjoining the bar, were far less fortunate as although a long way before 23.00 they were refused service by this same lady, even though she remained onsite for some time afterwards. This was emphatically the worst experience of inhospitable staff I have encountered, as well as the only one at an Accor Hotels Group. More staff training required for her, perhaps a formal warning would change her attitude towards hotel guests too! Breakfast the next morning was very good, despite the hotel being very busy, the staff were extremely efficient in replenishing food at the buffet style servery & also pleasant and charming, as was the gentleman on reception, who had an 'air' of management, when I settled my account.
