« Scruffy cold hotel »

Hotel looked dated and staircase room etc all looked like they needed refurbishment. Room was freezing cold and heating in room totally inadequate. A member of staff found us a fan heater after being asked twice, but it was clear the staff knew the in-room heating was poor. Breakfast did not start at 6am, the member of staff arrived after 6am and then began setting up - as most customers were travelling on the early morning ferry, this was a problem. the staff member was also unfriendly and actually shouted at another guest for cutting too much bread, involving us in the dispute! This is appalling! I did not enjoy this stay.

We received a warm welcome and had a complimentary drink but as my husband also wanted a drink we ordered an extra Orangina which we were surprised to find cost 4€. Also the water in the bathroom took almost 10 minutes too running to get warm

« Very useful stopover for the ferry »

Friendly and useful hotel for catching the ferry early in the morning or for an overnight before driving on into France. Beds comfortable, service friendly and breakfast very reasonable. Rooms very small so not good for a long stay requiring lots of luggage.

« Most ageeable »

Visit was during the "Les fêtes de la coquille Saint-Jacques". We found the rooms to be most comfortable, as we had a long drive that day, and we had to catch the early ferry, we found the breakfast was plentiful. Staff where very helpful, especially as roads were closed due to the festival.

« Generally as expected, but one particular problem »

We were given a ground-floor room (number 11). When we entered it, it was extremely cold (at 5.45 p.m.): the hotel should have turned heating on at some point earlier in the day. Also, the room has a door which connects to the adjacent room (number 9). This door had been left open, and not realising what it was, I found myself looking into room 9 (where the corresponding door was not locked) and where a guest was lying on the bed. This carelessness by hotel staff should not have happened.

The ferry was late docking, so I was later than expected. The man on reception was both friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fine and there was a good range of food. I shall certainly use this hotel again.

« Overall a good stay spoilt by a poor checkout experience »

Checkin is was good, the room clean and comfortable but despite checkingin on-line and registering my credit card the receptionist tried to insist that I paid again before leaving the hotel. Eventually I had to show him the email of my account sent earlier in the morning before he would accept my word. The delay could have resultedin my missing my ferry.
