« This quality and services in this Hotel did not, in almost any way, compare with those Mercure Hotels I/we stay in every year, partcularly in France »

Parking the car underground was a difficult, appalling experience and left the car in a risky situation. I was first advised (a) that I could not park then (b) that I could only stay one night (c) that I should move the car to another bay (d) that I should move the car next day by 12:00 hours (e) that I should leave the keys with Reception. I was staying for two days!! In the end I got "permission" to leave the car where it was. When we eventually got parked under ground I asked the way to the Elevator and was advised that "there was no elevator" until I pointed to a painted sign on the wall giving directions! The Lady Receptionist, who had come down to let us in, said "oh, sorry, I am new here" The first room we were allocated had no working fridge or safe and the AC was poor. On complaining we were told the Hotel was full and no change was possible - and that the Hotel was full and a Room change was not possible - and that NO rooms had a working safe. After speaking with the Manager we were allocated a Room with a working fridge and safe! The Room was small in the extreme, the bedside table was falling off, as was the toilet roll holder, and the shower screed door track was filthy - and the Room was hot (poor AC again) I have NEVER encountered such a situation before with Mercure. The check-in Reception personnel were hopeless, the check out Reception was very sympathetic and understanding and took relevant notes.

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel, and as before the staff are some of the nicest and most helpful we've encountered over many years of travel. I asked by e-mail before we arrived if they could reserve a space in the private garage, had a speedy reply to check the size of car as space is limited, and booked my space ready. When we arrived we were welcomed with a smile and handed over the key without fuss. They were also helpful with information on nearby restaurants and directs to places we wanted to visit. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with a good selection of fresh food at breakfast. Overall, a great experience and we'll definitely be back.

« Well located and reasonable value »

Problems: We found the duvet too warm and requested a sheet and blanket instead the following morning. That evening nothing had been done. We must compliment Maglui, the evening duty manager, who had not been told of the problem and who resolved it for us without delay. However we question the management system that overlooked our request. Second problem - the shower tray was flooding. We reported this, but did not find it much improved. This suggests inadequate maintenance. Staying in a privilege room (i.e. more expensive) we were entitled to complimentary mineral water, but had to ask for it to be replaced. Also the Nespresso machine had water that had discoloured, this should have been routinely cleaned after each departure and clearly wasn't

We were allocated a room with a wet room although neither my wife nor I suffer from reduced mobility. If we had been told this when we checked in we would have asked if it was possible to have a different room.

« My colleague had a very dangerous experience »

My colleague had a very dangerous experience in your hotel. She got almost poisoned with a bottle of disinfectant left in her room No. 401 marked as a complimentary water from Mercure Versailles Chateau hotel. The receptionist explained that the maid made a mistake and left the cleaning disinfectant instead of water. Totally unacceptable and very dangerous! She wrote a claim and none replied to her so far!!

« Perfectly placed for the Palace »

An easy walk to the Palace with lots of cafes nearby. We pre-booked parking and that went smoothly. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Clean room with opening window, which we prefer. Bathroom good with an efficient shower. However, the weather was very hot while we were there and the ac struggled to cool the room sufficiently. A portable fan would have helped but was not available.

Good location for Versailles area. Rooms are small for a Mercure brand hotel though modern layout. No fridge on room. I’m gold member so I got an upgraded room so if this one didn’t get much facilities, I can imagine standard rooms are even more spartan. Breakfast is ok and no restaurant

« Great hotel but starting to get a little tired. »

Stayed every year for at least seven years. Very good hotel with friendly staff, plus it’s ideally located. It could do with a bit of improvement, the A/C isn’t as effective as it once was, WiFi is a bit weak too. Generally it could just do with a bit of a refresh, however I will be staying again.
