I have the need to travel to Karratha every two months with work and always stay at the Ibis. I have ever ever had any issues whilst staying there. However, on my last two visits I have noticed that standards have generally slipped. I stayed at the Ibis on 2/9 and 3/9. The first issue that I came across was the new policy of paying a bond of $50 per night up front. I have never had to pay this before. When I queried it with the lady on the desk I was told that the $100 would be held against my credit card to cover any additional costs outside of what my employer's charge back covered. She further advised that the amount would be released from my credit card within 5-7 business days. I told her that I was a regular customer of the hotel but she told me the bond could not be waived - so I had to pay it. In the end, it actually took 10 working days to be cleared from my credit card which was very disappointing. The second issue I had with this stay was the service I received from the staff member who was managing breakfast on the morning of 3/9. There were no spoons available for guests. I asked the staff member if she could please get me a spoon. She went into the kitchen and got me a spoon. I then went to where the cereal was and there was one bowl left that was dirty (it had food on the wall of the bowl). So I went back to the staff member and asked if she could please get me a bowl. She told me there was one over with the cereal. I told her that it was dirty. She said "if it looks grey or dirty that's normal because all our bowls are stained like that" I told her that the bowl was dirty and she continued to argue with me. In the end I insisted that she get me a clean bowl and she stormed off into the kitchen and returned with one clean bowl and handed it to me. She was very rude and it was obvious that she didn't really care and I had inconvenienced her somehow. I witnessed another guest come into the restaurant about 10 mins later and he had to ask her for a bowl because there was none left. In addition to the above, my colleague had to ask the same staff member to: 1. Fill up the milk jug because it was empty 2. Fill up the apple juice only to be told that they had run out of apple juice. My latest stay was 10th to 12th October. To avoid the bond payment I arranged for my travel agent to send through a charge-back to cover the bond. When I got to the hotel to check in, the email from the travel agent had not been actioned and the staff member checking me in asked for my credit card. Thankfully, after I explained what had been arranged she found the email in the hotel's inbox and the issue was sorted. My breakfast experience over the couple of days was much better that my previous visit, but it was obvious that the staff member managing breakfast was under pressure despite there only being 3 guests including me in the restaurant. On Friday 11/10 I left my room, had breakfast and then went out between 9.00am and 2.00pm when I returned to the room to catch up on some emails. Within 10 mins of returning there was a knock on the door from housekeeping (2 x staff members) wanting to service the room. I asked them to come back in 10 mins. It was obvious to me that they weren't happy with this (body language, looking at his watch) but they reluctantly left. In 10 mins, they came back and knocked on the door again and I told them I needed another 5 mins. The lady said something to the man in another language but I could tell that she was not very happy. They both went and sat down on the chairs outside and waited. After 5 mins, I packed up and left the room and as I walked past them I apologised for holding them up. They barely acknowledged my apology and walked into room. I have stayed at the Ibis on a consistent basis over the past three years and have never had an issue with the staff or the facilities. However, I have noticed on the last two occasions that some of the staff (excluding the front counter staff) are rude and do not look at things from a customer perspective. I am not one to usually complain or complete surveys that are negative but was experience has not been great and I find myself seriously considering staying somewhere else when next in Karratha. When providing a buffet breakfast it is important from a guest perspective that drinks, milk, cutlery etc are "topped up". from what I have experienced recently it is obvious that the staff are happy to wait until a guest requests this rather than being proactive. Every time a guest has to ask for something it adds to the negative experience. I hope that you can use my feedback to improve the level of service provided by your staff in the restaurant and in turn the experience of your guests.

Staff were very friendly & helpful. Beds were very comfy, the aircon was nice and cold and the locatiom was great. Biggest disappointment was the mouldy shower!! All it needed was a good scrub and the leaking shower to be fixed. Perhaps a refurbish is much needed as the rooms are quite dated especially the bathroom.

A few towels had marks of some sort of spills. One of the blankets had cream colour stain of a size of 50c coin. Will never stay there again. Separate to that, the staff were friendly and helpful.

The room itself was nice. The bed was comfy and the staff was wonderful. But the bathroom was atrocious mould everywhere. The toilet had a black ring of something around it. The shower was corroded and could not be touched for fear of crumbling. The wifi was non existent and should not be advertised as available. The price of room for what you get is for lack of a better word a rip off.

Hotel needs major updates especially airconditioning and fridge. Noise from both was very distracting. Also the cleanliness of the bathroom and bedroom was not very good. Dust and dirty fittings in the bathroom with mould in shower.

When arriving at Reception you were immediately hit with a powerful, almost overpowering, musky mould odour. It was not pleasant. The room was relatively nice. Bed was extremely comfortable. Shower could do with an upgrade.

The pillow cases were paper thin, paint was coming off the walls, crooked light fittings, we had the dregs for breakfast as the chef was shutting up for the morning and the bar fridge did not work. Overall we felt ripped off for the amount of money we paid. This goes for IBIS in Port Hedland as well, similar story, oh, we were told that there was no bread left for toast because the previous customers had eaten all of it, I couldn't believe this was owned by Accor.

The room was clean and tidy although old. However, for the price we paid ($243) I would have expected it to include the continental breakfast. Instead we were charged an extra $20ea for breakfast. Reception and restaurant were friendly and welcoming.
