booked stay online, asked for quiet room, preferably bay view rather than city view ; it was a busy weekend in melbourne, hotel quite busy, was given city view room; nothing wrong with city view per se, but somewhere close by, probably in flinders lane, there is a nightclub / dance club, and even 37 floors up, all you hear is the doof doof ....very hard to get a decent nights sleep, even allowing for the wonderful bed! great pity really, as otherwise cannot fault the sofitel.

The staff cannot be faulted. We were not as impressed with the quality of the food as before. I do love the Sofitel and was happy with our room but was appalled to see a dried green, most likely snot, on the dressing gown I put on.... Not pleasant !

« Underwhelmed by Sifitel Melbourne. Service was great in Reception but the standard of facilities was pretty average. »

Having stayed in numerous Sofitel Hotels around the world as a Le Club Accor member, I was expecting the Sofitel Melbourne to be of the same high standard as Sofitel Bangkok, Sofitel Singapore, Sofitel Ho Chi Minh etc, which are all amazing hotels. The bathroom was poor and in need of a tola uplift, with no walk in shower, basins so old they still have separate plugs and a shower that does not have a mixing valve and is scalding hot and burns your arms before you can turn on the cold tap. But worst of all was the F&B experience of breakfast at 9am on Sunday morning, 10th March 2019. I choose to stay in Sofitel hotels because the French flair for F&B is always of an amzing high standard. Not so in Sofitel Melbourne!! To be greeted by a big queue of people waiting to be seated for breakfast was bad but it took nearly 15 mins from arriving for myself and my wife to be seated. The breakfast areas is ridiculously small and cramped for a hotel of this size. People bumping into each other as no where to rest plates. Waiting nearly 5 mins for orange juice to be replenished. Big queues for hot omelette so that I gave up waiting after 10 mins! Trying to attract the attention of the harried staff to ask for more tea proving practically impossible! On the whole, the breakfast experience was expensive for a poor range of food and the overall experience was very very disappointing. Not the fault of the stressed out staff but the fault of the F&B manager for not adequately catering for the needs of a full hotel at breakfast time. Needless to say, I will never stay in the Sofitel Melbourne again! Regards, Bernard & Sara K.

The checkin process took 20 minutes, including being told on arrival we were given an upgrade and then told that it was not possible. The disappointment was compounded was being declined for a upgrade to club that you sent by email and invited (I would not send invitations that you can decline). The room was not serviced and require us to call housekeeping at 5pm to arrange and being told that perhaps we were mistaken as the sheets are only changed every 3 days...the bed was not made.

The ladies in the sofitel club were very friendly and accomadating. also check in and ckeck out processes were very fast and efficient. Room service menu and food quality was great. sofitel Melbourne is most definitely one of the best sofitels in the world. Obviously not having a pool is a downside. but great location

We arrived just before 2 and the girl on the desk said we could go to lunch. It was light and delicious! Then we went to our room on the 49th floor and were very surprised to see a photo of our wedding and a note from the hotel also delightful chocolates and a Happy 50th wedding Anniversary written in white chocolate . With sparkling wine too!

Generally our stay was very pleasant but unfortunately when it comes to the welcome drink it has been a different story the last 2 times we have stayed. This time we attempted to have a drink before we went to a restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately you had a function in the area and the bar on level 35 was full. Our last visit was the same the Friday before Christmas. The anomaly is that when that bar opens you close the bar on level 1. I understand the prime time for drinks is between 5pm and 7 pm but I don’t understand why there cannot be some crossover between one bar closing and the other bar opening.

« Ordinary Start but excellent service fixed our issue »

On the first night, our room was quite noisy and we didn't sleep well. When we raised it with the front desk, we received an excellent response from Linda Sobalbarro and Zangi and were moved to a much quieter (and larger) room. We were then very comfortable. I do note the service at the Floor 35 bar was quite perfunctory.

We had a Wonderful stay at Sofitel on Collins again.Poppy was very friendly and helpful when checking in and out. Room was spacious and quiet with nice amenities and had great views over the North east of the city. Bed large and comfortable ensuring a very restful nights sleep. The complimentary bottles of water was nice in our room on arrival. We also enjoyed pre dinner drinks down at the bar. prior to going out for dinner. Also enjoyed Full Breakfast next morning on Level 35 with amazing views all over the city.
