I stayed for two night at the Ibis in Kalgoorlie to try it out. Upon arrival the lady at the front desk was very helpful, so that was great. However, once I entered the lift, I was surprised to see it quite dirty and I would have expected the flooring to be vacuumed and reasonably clean. Once in my room, I went to make a cup of tea and both of the mugs in the room had coffee stains near the lip of the mugs and I washed them in the bathroom basin. That is poor hygiene. This simply means the hotel rooms are not cleaned properly which then made we suspect that the general cleanliness of the hotel was quite average if not poor. I had dinner at the Ibis one evening, simply to see what the quality was like. I am used to the Palace Hotel across the road where the meals are great but I wanted to try it out at the Ibis. I was warned by friends that it was average but I thought I'd try it any way. The service was average, the meal wasn't anything special, very average in fact. I had the steak. The waitress started complaining to someone else that she was "Over It !" As a guest, I don't really need to know other peoples problems and whether she was happy with her work or not. In summary, my first impression over two nights wasn't great and unfortunately, I won't be staying there again. I am an Accor member and I normally have great experiences at Accor hotels but not this time. Unfortunately, next time I'll be staying somewhere else. Maybe someone from head office should come across to the Ibis Kalgoorlie and see for themselves. One positive though, was that the lady at the front desk on the evening that I arrived was great. Upon check in, there were a number of people close by in the foyer. The check in staff did not try at any time to conceal my room number, in fact was very loud when informing what number room I was staying in. This was repeated at dinner, when the staff member yelled my room number across the restaurant for her colleague to note. And finally in the morning, there was a sign in sheet for breakfast. It required you to put your full name and room number on a list with everyone else staying at the hotel. I said that I would not do this for security reasons and I wanted the staff member to express my concern with this method. She seemed very disinterested in my comments. I do not wish at any time for any one apart from the staff to know what room I am staying in. Seriously, a bit of discretion would go a long way to ensure we feel safe. Plus the walls were very thin so I heard what felt like every door slam on my level (level 3) and the televisions of multiple guests around me. It really was a very dissatisfactory stay.

The room was better than I anticipated and was clean, comfortable and of a good size. Decor was modern and overall I was really happy. I rated it a 9 out of 10. To get that extra point I'd liked to have had a choice of mini bar, plus the Foxtel channels didn't work and there were no instructions on how to watch an in house movie. But they are small things. I was really pleased that the staff accommodated my request for a fan in the room. I'll be back!

Firstly the shower recess was filthy and the entertainment was not working and on querying this lack of interest in not being able to supply a lack of service offered.

It is not acceptable and I have addressed this with my team this early afternoon. Unfortunately Foxtel was down in the entire area and the after hours service was unable to rectify it until this morning. We called them and logged the fault several times, unfortunately they couldn't assist us. The only issue I have is the balcony's had chairs and tables. From a safety perspective a child could easily climb these and go over the balustrading These should be removed Also door did not lock going to the balcony..... not kid safe

Went to have a shower the floor was dirty and the Hugh amount of hair on the shower floor and the shower walls were absolutely disgusting had to clean before having a shower not good enough obviously was not cleaned after last guest left

Our stay was very pleasant, and we were delighted with the location and the fact that our room had a small sitting area where we could relax, read and watch TV. The first morning we had breakfast in the restaurant, which was very disappointing because although we were eating at 8.35; the mushrooms and scrambled eggs were just warm, and the bacon and sausages were cold. We told the waitperson and more bacon came out; however we had to leave by 9:00 so had no time to eat it. When we checked out, I advised Tess (who has been a great ambassador since my initial inquiry several months ago); and I noticed only when I arrived home that Tess had deducted the $30 for 2 breakfasts. That was a very good PR exercise because we ate virtually nothing on the day due to the condition of the food. We had a very noisy night with neighbours; late on the last evening we were there. Cleaning of the room left a lot to be desired - and $7 for 2 small bottles of water is insulting. The room decor was bright and welcoming; there was plenty of light (sometimes lacking in hotel/motel units); the sitting area was a bonus; and the bed was comfortable.

All in all it was pretty good, Carrie in the restaurant was excellent....We would have spent more in the restaurant if there had have been some decent beers in the bar....The selction was minimal and not very good
