In our room - dirty carpet, lighting so poor we had to put on every light to have any hope of seeing. We often had to resort to putting our phone torch on to see detail. When we first arrived we found loads of someone else's hair in the bed we planed to sleep in. Fortunately the other bed didn't have an hair in it. Next morning we asked for the bedding to be changed... It wasn't. On our last night we needed extra towels, which we called reception for. They ever arrived. The breakfast - was sub-standard. The toaster either didn't work at all, or was so bad I gave up after putting my bread through four times. Replacing items that had been consumed was very slow so we often couldn't get things we wanted. The wifi was only available in the lobby and was so slow if was basically unusable. On the last night we tried to check in to our flight but the airline website wouldn't even load. Overall the worst hotel of the three week holiday.

Iman helped us with our various room problems, and the maintenance team fixed broken and missing lampshades, and properly vacuumed the floor, and applied a cleaning spray. For us, we feel the property rooms needs significant upgrade- carpets and bathrooms. The bed was excellent, as is the pool, and the lobby and restaurant. We are very grateful that we got an upgrade to a beautiful suite for our one night stay, that was a few days after our initial stay.

We stayed for 2 nights pre a tour. Our room was comfortable, clean and well equipped. It had a lovely view over the pyramids. Plenty of food choices. Liked the security in the hotel Staff were more than helpful. Iman from guest relations was adorable. The reservation staff and office manager were amazingly helpful when we found our ongoing booking wasn’t found. Mohammed in the pool area was so attentive and helpful as well.

I usually stay at this hotel when I come to visit family. The staff is always great, the hotel has lots of space and room, the hotel is always clean, I feel safe here. Only areas for improvement is some rooms could use some maintenance improvement and minor repair depending on which room you get. will continue to stay here when I come to cairo.

Staff were friendly but the hotel rooms are old and run down. Air conditioning leaked water and made the rooms smell. Air conditioning was very noisy. Showers were terrible, water kept changing hot to cold, showers leaked badly. Food quality was very poor and room service menu extremely limited. There is no internet in rooms or near pool and internet at concierge is very slow. Hotel management needs to be sacked and replaced with a Foreigner management team that can revive this hotel and make it more attractive for tourists so close to the pyramids!

I have some compliments and some points of improvement. Points of improvement: The pool closes at 6pm and 15min before that the staff starts to kick you out of the place, which ruins the experience. Either in the pool bar or the bar above the hotel if you order anything they will already give you the bill so you can leave fast. The hotel employees dont speak english very well. The guy from the hotel carried our baggage for 5 meters from the reception to the car (even without us asking, we only had one bag) and complained because we didnt give him money. The air conditioning is very old and the noise is hudge, we had to turn it off to sleep. Compliments: The breakfast is very good, the location as well and the view from the previlege room is also good. I mean, in a general way the hotel is average. I believe that for the same price we could stay in other hotel but I always give preference to the Accor ones due to their loyalty program.

We could not fault the staff, professional, but friendly. Happy to have a chat and most of them have a great sense of humour. Rooms were neat and tidy. Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby area. Which led to a very busy area, especially with all the tour groups coming and going.

Staff at front desk won't smile to you, wifi is weak, but the pyramid view room is amazing, you may take lots of pic from the balcony. When I go to their roof top BBQ restaurant and ask for recommendation, the staff there ask me go down for pizza as it takes shorter time and cheaper! Do you mean I am not able to pay for it? Overall, just average hotel

Very indifferent person checking me in. No information at all provided. Just checked me in and handed me my key. No information on anything in the room, ie when is breakfast? How to use the remote for the tv, wifi password, pool hours. Called the front desk to get bv wifi password and yold I needed to come to front desk to get it. When I came to the front desk and asked for the password he acted like he didnt want to give it to me, he asked if I had a signal in my room, I said yes and he finally write it down for me. ATM machine in lobby not functioning, ask where to find one - no one knew, I had to find one on my own. Probably would not stay in your hotel again, poor customer service

Travelling around Egypt since 6 years I never ever had such a terrible stay in a Hotel.My flight was delayed so that I arrived at 2 o'clock in the morning in the Hotel Check in was a little bit difficult because everyone seemed to ne tired.I got my Roomcard but no help with the luggage.When I arrived at my room the door was open which gave me not a really good feeling. I checked that nobody was inside and I only want to take a shower and drink a tea. Unfortunately the water wasn't gonna be hot the products in the bathroom were open and used the body lotion empty.There wasn't any water,coffee or tea.In the morning at 8.30 i passed the reception and the lady told me that she will immediately make sure that i get what i need.So I went for breakfast which was as disappointing as the room a clean cup for to have a coffee was difficult to find but finally I found one.The coffeemaker was not very clean but anyhow i needed a coffee Back at my room nothing happened it was still the same like before.I went out and when I came back in the afternoon the same.I bought water from outside and tried to relax a little bit with TV but the remover hasn't no battery.Really a stay can not be worse and this for 80€ the night

HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE GETTING DOOR ENTRY CARD TO WORK, HAD TO PLUG KETTLE INTO FLOOR POWER POINT, DRINKS FROM BAR WERE VERY EXPENSIVE, COULDNT GET SERVICE FROM UPSTAIRS BBQ AREA SO EVENTUALLY JUST LEFT, LOT OF TRAFFIC NOISE HEARD FROM ROOM ...NEEDS DOUBLE GLAZING.

The staff at the hotel are very pleasant and do a good job. However, there were issues with the room, there was a puddle of water on the floor of the bathroom. Your cleaner should have noticed this and addressed it. The WiFi internet in the hotel was poor. It did not work in the hotel rooms and was very unreliable in the lobby. The breakfast and meals were limited with little selection and mostly unappealing food. The swimming pool was very impressive and the lifeguard was pleasant and helpful. I have concerns about the ttour company which has a desk in the hotel lobby. On the first day we booked a tour of the pyramids. Rather than an all-in-one price, we were taken to various points and to various companies by our driver Isam, where we were put under high-pressure to buy souvenirs are very high prices. the tour cost much more than we had planned or hoped for. Our driver on the second and third days was very good, Ahmed was helpful and did not take us to any shops for high-pressure selling.

Beds we’re comfortable, swimming pool was nice. However, sun lounges are a bit old and you need more of them. Carpets in the room were dirty, very poor lighting in the room. The food in your restaurants was sub-standard and your prices way too high, especially the alcoholic drink prices. I would not recommend this hotel.

Got my reserved type room on second night Said I hadn’t paid deposit and charged me total amount Left me standing at the counter for ages waiting fir service while served make customers who came in well after me Cleanliness off room poor Food was the worst I ate in Egypt at any hotel Extremely unimpressed and will never stay there again

Loved our stay. We were so close to the pyramids, and our taxi service we hired from the hotel was great. They spoke English for us, which was helpful. The roof top restaurant was reasonably priced and delicious. The breakfast was varied and large. The pool was lovely and they have a bar, which is also not always easy to find in Cairo. The only thing I thought was a shame is that the hotel room was a smoking room. I'm not sure if they are all smoking rooms or not, but I request non-smoking online. There was an ashtray and everything in the room, and it had that terrible "smoke in all the upholstery" smell. But the AC and hot water worked, and the facilities in the rest of the hotel were worth the experience.

I know times have been tough for tourism in Egypt and that hotels have been struggling to attract guests and cutting rates for years. So, when I got 4 nights in the Mercure le Sphinx for approx £40 per night for 4 nights my expectations were adjusted accordingly. However, what greeted me at this place went beneath even these and was actually disgraceful. Shabby, scuffed fixtures and fittings noticeable even at reception was the first hint that things were seriously wrong at this place and were confirmed by the filthy, stained carpets in both the hallways and our room itself; the scuffed walls; filth behind the curtains; random stuff from previous guests left untouched by the cleaning staff, including used plastic cutlery on the bathroom floor and cigarette buts on the balcony, where, naturally, the outdoor furniture was encased in filth. Expect not to have a hot shower once in 4 days here. Expect to struggle to read anything after dark, so inadequately lit are the rooms (doubtless to hide the obvious in room filth). Expect no wi-fi in the room and to do the dance of multiple networks in the lobby where it is available. Expect to be reprimanded by poolside bar staff when you bring a couple of unopened soft drinks you'd procured a few feet away in the lobby bar. Expect to have the kind of hassle from tour guides and taxi touts one routinely encounters on the street in Egypt inside the hotel itself from its tour desk personnel and random guys saying 'hey! You want taxi? Same price as Uber my friend'. Food at lunch and dinner was unremarkable at best and inedible at worst - we had to send back an utterly disgusting main course and fled to the falafel place down the street instead where things were better prepared. I give this place 1 star because breakfast was decent enough and because of the pyramids view from our room. I'm a frequent guest at brands across the Accor portfolio all over the world and this the worst I've ever stayed in. I urge Accor to intervene here before this property tarnishes their brand any further. I can only say that this place was worth less than the low rate I paid to stay here and we were relieved to leave.
