For a hotel that carries the name Mercure, the expectation of its quality, regardless of where it is in the world, is the same. A Mercure in London or Sydney, should be the same as that in Cairo. It wasn’t. The hotel is old and run down, the rooms were noisy, the air conditioning temperature was stuck on full cold, the shower drain was blocked and the wifi in the room barely worked (we reset the router 12 times during a 1 night stay).

Best hotel by far for the Pyramids area. I've often stayed here. Standards had been slipping and sadly none of the physical infrastructure changes in recent years have been improvements at all. However present management and staff are doing their best and it was lovely to see the hotel busy again. Pool and porterage service by experienced staff is excellent.

Needs to be renovated asap ! The personel also need a good training on customer service ! Breakfast is a disaster, chaos 🤨! The rooms are dirty, we have never been in such a hotel before....It’s not because you have plenty of bookings, that you can neglect your hotel services !

Overall quite pleasant. Rooms are a good size and some open to verandas. Unfortunately some small frustrations like no power to television or electric jug in our room and request to borrow iron was ignored 3 times - despite seeming to understand and assuring us housekeeping would bring it - so I gave up asking. Staff were mainly welcoming although one girl on the front desk was defensive before you spoke to her and so came over as not very helpful. Good breakfast.

We had to change room three times. Food was below standard - served raw chicken and meat that was like leather! Most of the staff didn’t seem to care. As we discovered it was just us having issues there were are number of other guests having issues as well.

Hotel is very much in need of updating with stained carpets and old fittings. Concerns regarding a television that didn't work and a safe that was locked were not addressed. Breakfast was crowded with coffee machines not working some mornings.

Nice enough hotel, doors were broken in the room and there was a Nespresso machine but no pods to use it so seems pointless. I arrived quite late and only used the room for about 7 hours, I asked if I could sit by the pool after check-out and was told no as I'd 'checked out', felt this was a bit harsh as the hotel was quiet and I'd not used any facilities the day before. I was also unhappy that I was charged the room price at the hotel when my invoice specifically said to be charged at time of booking meaning exchange rates had fluctuated. Security staff were really lovely and helpful though, best part of the stay. I am a travel agent, so was booked through our agent portal.

Lots of amenities at this hotel, pretty much anything you could ever need. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Pool is nice and the kids outdoor play area got plenty of use from our family. The rooms (at least the ones we stayed in) could probably use an update but were otherwise quite comfortable. The only disappointment was there is no hotel-wide wifi, it is only available in the lobby. Of course this means that early and late in the day the lobby area will be packed grinding the access to a crawl. Great otherwise.

Loved the view of the pyramids from the rooftop terrace. But the service at this hotel was very poor. Starting with the waiters at the restaurants, especially at the Alexandria (the breakfast buffet one). The waiters would not give us attention, not sure if it's because we were the only English speaking guests but we were the only table that did not have their plates cleared off or drinks refilled. The food served was very mediocre. We had dinner at the Alexandria restaurant and were charged 300 Egyptian pounds per person, which was really expensive for what was served. Also our room's AC was broken (3152). We notified the front desk of this issue twice during our stay, the second time they sent a maintenance tech to take a look, he told us he'd go to the roof to check and never came back. Overall we did not enjoy our stay and have reported our experience to the tour company that booked this for us.

Firstly I would like to thank Mahmoud Haggag. He helped to arrange a late check out for us after a few issues when we checked in. Not all management is helpful or friendly, one particular manager stood and even spoke with Mahmoud but did not even acknowledge us.. his computer seemed to be more important than the unhappy customers I guess! The staff are otherwise very helpful and accommodating. The location is very good, it is an amazing sight to be able to see the pyramids from the rooftop cafe and the swimming pool however they need to remove the horrible plastic covering on the rooftop cafe so we can have an actual view of the pool and the pyramids properly. The food at the breakfast buffet was okay, not fantastic but the restaurant even leave a notice out to remind people not to waste food which is one of the best signs I’ve ever seen in a hotel!! It even tells you how much food was wasted and how many people would have been fed from it! The room service is not great, they don’t have much information with regards to what food is actually available except ‘sandwiches’. We didn’t bother to order any thing in the end so I’m not sure if the sandwiches were good or not. The rooms are nice, we had a clean room with a lovely balcony and we were even lucky enough to have been able to see the tip of the pyramid from there! Overall, I would recommend this hotel however I would suggest finding someone as helpful as Mahmoud Haggag if you encounter any problems rather than the managers on duty.

We booked a private tour guide that set us up at your property. If it were not for the fact that we were really only sleeping there because of the packed schedule for the weekend, we certainly would have checked out and found somewhere else to stay. -I have not stayed at a hotel that only had Wifi in the lobby in YEARS. If you want to sit in the lobby, then you have to put up with the cigarette smoke; you should know that probably 75-90% of your guests find that disgusting. -No Elevator? We are plenty capable of carrying our luggage up and down the stairs, but not everyone is. -The red carpet looked as if it had been there since the late 70's. Just gaudy and covered with stains. -Hardly any light in the room. There was a floor lamp with no way of turning it on. -Lack of outlets in the room. It was nice having the coffee and tea with the kettle. Too bad I had to put the kettle on the floor to plug it in because that was the only outlet near it. -Leaving the hotel was never easy. Our driver was always harassed by the transportation police and actually extorted money from our driver on the last day on our way to the airport. +The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was decent. +The pool area looked nice, but unfortunately we were on too tight of a schedule to enjoy it. +Staff was very friendly I honestly cannot figure out how the Mercure is rated a five star hotel on Booking.com. I saw the overall review score of 6.6 and would never book a hotel with that low of a rating, but since our tour guide set it up, we figured it would be fine. I have mentioned some of the above complaints and he said that he had no idea. Chances are he may not send any more business your way. My wife and I are normally do not complain about much. We are living in Saudi Arabia and have been traveling for many years. We have stayed in many hotels around the world and have had good and bad experiences. I mention all of the above complaints in hope that my feedback actually does improve your services, not because I enjoy criticizing.

Extremely disappointing. Rooms could do with a good clean. Stains on carpets. Curtains dirty & hanging off rail. Safe not even attached to wall!!! Bathrooms need a deep clean & resealed/grouted. Wifi patchy at best. No T.V. Drinks overpriced. The whole hotel needs to be refurbished & brought up to date. Will not be returning!! Would not recommend!!
