During the refurbishment, Mercure and WMK Architecture collaborated to create awarm yet modern space filled with bright colour, which is both inviting and comfortable. The work of local artist Kelly Fielding was also incorporated into the room design, which includes her range of headboards designed to resemble the Brisbane River.

« Very Enjoyable Stay »

I attended a conference and stayed at the hotel. Staff immediately recognised me as an ACCOR Plus member and offered me late checkout.All staff I encountered during my stay were very helpful. Room was well presented although the colour scheme (particularly the carpet) was a bit modern for my taste.Food during the conference was excellent.

Reception seemed to be lacking in sufficient staff to manage check in and check out with queues at both and only one person available to assist. The rooms are clean and comfortable however a little scruffy - the bathroom door in my room was very scuffed with chipped paint. I was supposed to have a Queen size room but the bed was definitely a double. There was a room connecting door between my room and the room beside me which isn't very well soundproofed. I could clearly hear coughing and unfortunately also snoring during the night...

I pulled up in at the front door, saw 3 staff at the front desk and no doorman. Usually at hotels there is a doorman, you can get your car parked for you - or at least access the car park before checking in. I tried to signal the staff for 5 minutes as I didn't want to leave my car unattended, they ignored me so I had to leave my car in front of the door, go inside, check in (and the person who checked me in needed help from a colleague to change me from a double bed to a queen bed) He asked me why, I said because I am 6ft 2 and my feet hang off the end of a double bed, he asked me a second time I told him the same answer and he responded tersely, I heard you the first time... Also the pricing is confusing - on the hotel website it shows parking as a feature of the room, so I assumed it was included in the room price. This was my reason for choosing the Mercure - to be charged for it was disappointing.

« Disappointing hotel amenities. »

The hotel whilst comfortable had significant maintenance issues that need addressing. Firstly, there was no running water between 12am and 3am with only four hours notice given. Secondly, on Friday the lifts were not working and I had to use the goods lift to move about the hotel.

« Not Quite up to Par »

Positives- staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfy. Location was great. Also the best breakfast I've had in a buffet style restaurant in years - well done! Negatives- check in was complicated. To be fair we arrived a little early at 11.40 am but had already checked in on line as requested. Our car was too high for hotel car park so had to leave in Tank st. If there was something about car height restrictions on the website we could easily have brought a different car. Understandably, our room wasn't ready so we left our bags with reception and went to see a show at QPAC. Got a text message at 1 pm to say our room was ready. Went back to the hotel at 3.45 pm and found we had to recheck in again. Went to our room but our bags weren't there. Bags took another call and 15 mins to make it up (after I rang again to say I was coming to reception to get them myself) Room also had 2 double beds instead of the queen we requested but at this point we were just grateful to sit down! Went to hotel restaurant for dinner- MRepublic- waiter young, friendly but grossly under trained. Brought us a bottle of white when we'd ordered red, rushed off again then returned with an unopened bottle. " Here you go" he says handing it to my husband- No opening, tasting or god forbid pouring! No bread available to order, some of menu unavailable. Have to say it struck us as funny as it was obviously poor/ no training not rudeness as the waiter was willing and friendly. Then I asked if we should order our steaks rare as quite often it comes over done and we both wanted medium rare- He confidently told us it comes as it should. Unfortunately it came well done and tough as old boots- sinew throughout. My husbands was well done but edible. The waiter did offer to remove my dish from the bill but we refused- we were not out for a free dinner- just thought the chef needed the feedback. We were also offered a free drink which we also declined. We just wanted to give constructive feedback so the waiter gets some training and the chef reviews his meat supplier.

« Very special stay »

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the 11th floor overlooking the river. Check-in went smoothly, we arrived late after 10pm. The bed was very welcome after 2 day journey from France. It was very comfortable. Breakfast was good with a variety of items, from hot to cold choices.

« Pleasant staff, but tired hotel and needing a refresh »

Your staff are incredibly pleasant and helpful to deal with. Welcome ws great and staff at bar were pleasant and food was good. The rooms though are tired looking. My bathroom door paint was chipped away, carpets felt worn and while the view of the river is lovely, it was noisy being near the busy road. My room wasn't cleaned on one day even though I left the room for a few hours. Also the lift broke down on one of the days with no communication about the issue. Overall I was underwhelmened by the experience. The hotel is on the list of approved hotels for my company, but not sure it will be top of my list again next time.

Hotel had balloons and chocolate for my sister for her birthday. That was great. Not overly impressed with inattentive wait staff for dinner on Friday evening. We decided to have my sister’s birthday dinner in the hotel restaurant - found the service somewhat lacking in a very quiet restaurant. « Great location »

Location in city was great - close to river and queen street. The rooms were clean and tidy, beds comfortable - but they should be at that price anyway. Lifts took a long time to arrive to pickup (once in, it was quick).

« I had wonderful service and felt special »

I had great service especially from a young man named James, nothing was too much trouble and also from Elaine in the restaurant. I always have bed trouble and as you didn't have bed boards, this was as per usual a disappointment. James helped me with a mattress on the floor which was better than the bed but still not a great mattress.
