« Great Location »

Have stayed here previously and alway found staff friendly, rooms clean and breakfast excellent. It is in a great location and most city and wharf places are within walking distance. WE were going on a tour to Litchfield National Park and the company picks up and drops off at the door of this Hotel. Will stay again

A nice welcome. Efficient reception staff. Assisted me with some business documents I needed printing and sent by courier. Dealt with well. We dined each night of our 4 night stay. Good restaurant service and meals.

« Didn’t think it looked like the pictures on the internet before I booked »

Air conditioning wasn’t working in our room and was disappointed with the hotel based on the photos I saw on the hotel website when we booked. Had to be moved after 3 days when air conditioning couldn’t be fixed because it was the weekend and they had no one available. Overall disappointing

From the minute we walked in to the last moment when we left our stay with you was brilliant. The staff from reception, housekeeping and dining area were truly professional and catered for all our needs. The room we were allocated exceeded our expectations as we stayed for 3 nights. The meals (we had breakfast and dinner each day) were extremely tasteful and why would we go anywhere else to eat when we could then just retire to our room or have a drink in the great setting. Overall it was a fantastic setting and when we visit Darwin again we have already decided we will be staying at the Novotel Darwin on the Esplanade because of the facilities and the excellent service provided by all staff.

Staff were rude from the moment we arrived. They could not have cared if anyone was in the hotel or not. We had to move rooms as we booked in two separate bookings (which was not a problem for us) BUT when we came back later in the day to re-check in we were told in no uncertain terms that we did not have a booking - even after the girl in the morning confirmed we were just moving rooms 0 she actually was lovely. the girl in the afternoon not so. After i found my confirmation number abd showed it to her she huffed at me and magically found me a room - even though she said there was no rooms available. Friends of ours had a broken toilet and were told that there was no maintenance people on until Tuesday (this was Saturday afternoon) and that the toilet could no be fixed until then - she kicked up a stink and eventually they got someone to fix it. We needed more pillows for our room as we had two flat pillows in our room and went looking for more so that we were not lying flat on the mattress but none were available and called to get more but "housekeeping had gone home and no one would be available till the next day" - so we had no pillows until the next day. One gentleman on the next morning was fantastic and organised the rest of our stay for us - most of the girls that "work" there are terrible for your business - i travel a lot for work and this is the worst experience i have had for a very long time.

Check in was smooth and easy - however there was no advice of any refurbishments that would be taking place within hotel during my stay. My work was hosting our conference at the hotel, however the facilities offered were not large enough for the numbers that had been identified and booked as attending. A note in my room on day three of my stay indicated that there would be some painting in the hotel foyer and at various levels - however the overpowering smell of acrylic paint was not taken into consideration. Our conference was abandoned early on day two due to the paint fumes. Unfortunately I was not able to avoid this as I was also staying in the hotel. During the course of my stay I had a headache for 3 of the 4 days.

Arrived Tuesday and left Friday . Wifi was reported as a problem Wed and still had no feedback on why Floor three was not getting WiFi. Having to work away it is important to have access and I was forced to seek alternate means to access important work sites after hours on my return to the hotel. Car parks are limited and for such a large hotel 20 spaces are just not enough. I am not comfortable parking my hire car on the street. Check in staff were friendly and the food good. Bar staff were helpful and assisted with my local venue questions.

Disinterested staff except for room cleaning people who were delightful and helpful. Junior Suite was a disgrace. We have photos to put on Trip Advisor and to send to Sebastien Bazin. Dealyed check-in even though we are Accor members. I booked this suite as a surprise for my husband's 50th birthday - I was devastated. zero WOW factor, major EEEW factor. Mould, rust, chipped bath, evidence of damage to room door and door frame - looked like it had been jemmied. TVs around 20 years old, WiFi sporadic, 1 star quality - 5 star price ($350 per night), pool closed to guests while conference delegates sat in conference room, difficult to get night staff's attention to enter after hours - he was watching TV and couldn't hear us ringing. If you want to see what we expect from an Accor hotel, check out the Sofitel in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Similar humidity and temperatures, not a speck of dirt or mould to be found.

The restaurant food and service are the best we've had at any ACCOR hotel. Congratulations. Tied rooms and bathroom - terrible bed and pillows. No other mattresses available. Hotel entrance looks dirty. Pool area needs a tidy up.

Was very disappointed with check out. The company that booked my room was also expecting to receive the bill to pay the costs however the clerk insisted that i was to use my credit card. Without the luck of my tax check arriving into my account literally hours before this I would have not had enough funds to pay this account. He was not willing to listen to my explanation that Paccar Australia had given credit card details when booking the room so that the account could be settled with it. I doubt that I will be staying with you again when I next return to Darwin for more work.

Majority of reception staff very unfriendly, rooms smelt like smoke, mould in bathroom (ceiling grout shower curtain, aircon in bedroom leaking no one came to fix it so sleeping make uncomfortable , beds very very soft, even the iron leaked water. Very disappointed in a novatel property.

« Enjoyable stay close to everything in spacious room. »

We stayed for 6 nights and found the rooms comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was good and served early to allow us to take day trips. Would stay there again. We only had dinner there on one night and were disappointed with the service. 15-20 minutes to get 4 pre dinner drinks. Over half an hour to have our orders taken. It appeared that the restaurant was near empty with one very inexperienced waitress. From my experience too many hotels do this sort of job with dinner. Junior staff with little experience tells me the hotel does not place high importance. Our second last night was marred by noisy neighbours between 1am and 4am. When we mentioned this to the night staff early the next day, they said they were aware that these guys were coming in and out all night and were being noisy. Less than ideal response and actions should have been taken. The rooms were spacious and the renovations were pretty good. Spot reading lights were faulty and clearly very old. Not sure why they are still there. Not all switches worked. Showers could have been spruced up.

I have stayed there before but this time my wife was with me. We stayed there twice within a week, two different rooms. The second on (518) had a noisy air-conditioner that made sleep difficult, but apart from that we enjoyed staying at Novotel Darwin.
