The room we were given for the first night was unsatisfactory. It was a poor standard and at the back of the hotel. The opposite of what we booked. Fortunately this was corrected the next morning. While in this first room there was loud party noise from the next door property until 11pm. This was stopped after we contacted your reception, effectively and courteously

Traveling with my partner membership number 30…2439 3 membership added at time of checkin. Removed from profile after checkin. Room unkept, mould on bathroom ceiling, paint peeling from ceiling. Breakfast cold, staff wouldn’t provide coffee (was told it’s too quiet to turn the machine on)

We were met at reception by a beautiful young girl who was extremely friendly. The location is very handy to the centre of Darwin. The hotel rooms are looking a bit tired and the view from the window out the back of the hotel very ugly. Apart from the obvious need of a major reno and upgrade would stay here again.

I checked in twice as I was elsewhere for two nights in between. On both occasions I was unlucky enough to find the same person at reception. He told me my accommodation was not paid for. The first time it was 2.00am so said I would ring travel agent the next morning. Did so and after she rang Hotel I discovered that everything was OK. The second time I was told the same story and he wanted to debit my credit card $300. I said no as it was paid for so agreed to $50. I sent agent an email as I doubted I would have phone reception where I would be the next day during office hours. She checked again. The comment ‘incompetent night staff’ was mentioned.

We left after 1 night..

The Novotel in Darwin is a very poor representation of the Accor Hotel Group. We are usually spoilt in some accor hotels such as the Como, the Swissotel and the various Sofitels and even the Pullman brand but this was the only time I have ever left an Accor Hotel.

Convenient hotel for tourist destinations but rooms and service needs some tlc.

The room was spacious and clean. There were small ants around the kettle, although not around food. Not enough pillow choice. Only two in the room. Cups that we used were only rinsed off by housekeeping and left wet to dry off. Personally, these could be changed daily. We did our part to be environmentally friendly and did not have towels etc replaced everyday and then on our last day we received double the amount of fresh towels without asking. Different standards of housekeeping on our bed. One day we came back to find bed made, but large decorative pillows on the floor where we had left them, in the middle of room. There was some cracking/peeling at top of walls. When you pay good money, you expect attention to detail. On one night, we had cocktails for happy hour. We were disappointed they were not in cocktail glasses, only a long tall glass. My suggestion would be to make the happy hour cocktail, one that can be served in a cocktail glass.... it adds to the fun of the holiday especially, when adding photos to Facebook etc these days. On a plus, rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff were very friendly. Desk staff were always helpful. Location was perfect.

Rooms are tired. Plumbing and AC not up to scratch which impacted our stay. A day without hot water? We were credited 1 night accommodation. Head barman is rude. Lady that runs breakfast and Diedre? on reception are amazing. We just think that a four star hotel should not be run down. Exhaust fan in bathroom did not work. AC was not cold or dehumidifying and fan in lounge rattle so could not leave. Our hot water tap continue to hammer, even if we were not using it. Caused the neighbours to bang on the wall. A little bit "faulty towers" really. One of the power points did not work. I am a platinum accor member so stay in a lot of hotels. Worst room for a long time.

Reception, foyer and bar all lovely. Pool area simple but tidy and nice. Staff very friendly and accommodating and quick to assist. The 2bedroom apartment was clean, with good air conditioning. It is however very dated. Initially stayed on the south-eastern side of the hotel and the street noise / traffic / garbage truck / air conditioner noise was unbearable and we moved rooms after 3 nights. The age of the rooms shows when it comes to soundproofing or lack of. I would absolutely never stay on the side of the building again. That room also lacked a few basics such as towel hooks so towels were hung over doors and chairs, and the door was sticky and didn’t self close so was accidentally left open by us a couple of times and by housekeeping and maintenance several times. The room we moved to was much quieter. However personally I would not stay again as I don’t feel the apartments to be family friendly. They are very small, the kitchenette was for us pretty much unusable once the kids were in bed as it’s right by the bedroom door and the noise would wake them. The hot water in the bath is so hot that it’s unsafe for the kids and the taps are really odd and too easy to accidentally run burning hot water. There’s no exhaust fan in the bathroom so everything got a bit damp with each hot shower. The window curtains are average at best and still let in an awful lot of light. The balcony was useless due to its tiny size and there was no seating or furniture out there. The parking situation was frustrating as you couldn’t book a spot and it’s use by non hotel patrons is obviously not policed so in the evening would fill up with what I would assume was people dining on Mitchell street etc as it would often be empty by morning. This forced us to park out on the esplanade as our car was too tall for any under cover parks. The safety of the rear carpark is questionable anyway as there is no gate or key access, anyone can come and go as well as enter the pool area. Personally when we return to Darwin as a family we would not stay here and instead look for proper apartment accommodation.

I arrived after 1am and found the check-in process horrible. I was traveling for work and my work pre-booked and paid for the accommodation, however I was told at check-in that I needed to pay the full amount up front or I could not stay there. So I had to pay $1200 out of my own money, once the matter was resolved I was then told it could take up to 5 days for that money to return to my account. The motel was average as it was and very dated. There was no balcony or windows that could be opened. The bed and main room was clean the bathroom and shower were incredibly small.

From the moment we opened the room door you could smell the mould. The roof was covered in it and the bath was dirty with pubic hairs and a dirty face washer still in it. The filters in the air conditioning were clogged and the room stank ( I have photos of all areas concerned) my Accor membership is due and I am seriously considering not renewing

Staff, in the main, were very good. In particular, Indu at reception could not have been more helpful. The Lobby is well presented and the restaurant quite nice. The room we were allocated was large but it is tired and need renovating. The hotel is well positioned.

Stay was very short and breakfast was good. Service lovely. Haven't seen the credit on my card for the $100 deposit when checked in. I had a voucher so all was paid upfront. Can you please confirm. Please do not use this feedback on your travel advice.
