« Everything was great »

We really enjoy this hotel, from checkin to checkout. Location is excellent, staff are the best and most helpful. Our suite had everything that could want, bed was so comfortable. Restaurant food was very good and relaxing . Great breakfast choices, right upto usual Accor standard.

Arrived a little early & was able to be accommodated immediately. Had a reasonably early dinner in the Vue Restaurant which was lovely. Overall a very pleasant experience.

« Some disappointments »

Mysterious controls for lighting, HVAC. Provide "how to" instructions upon check-in. Also dummy card for controlling box. Slooow beverage service at restaurant. Coffee pot on table would be nice. Had to order multiple drinks at one time to have timeline refills. Ice would be really nice. Ice machine is not too much to expect.

Very comfortable stay. We had 2 small concerns, firstly that the airconditioner kept turning off, and was set to 25degrees, so the room became very hot several times during the night, and secondly the breakfast was good, but not to the usual excellent Grand Mercure standard.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but the receptionist kindly gave us a drink voucher where we were able to relax and unwind while we admired the beautiful views. The room was lovely and the bed was really comfortable. Will definately be back!

The friendly staff at the desk were very welcoming and helpful. Bar vouchers while waiting for the room was very nice and the service at the bar very friendly. Rooms were neat and tidy and very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was a bit chaotic due to the number of quests wanting to dine at the same time, but staff were very friendly and accommodative. As an Accor Club member, we were very happy.

« A Strange Stay in an Ideal Location »

The hotel itself is in an ideal location. The rooms are comfortable. We had several issues which were unusual for this type of hotel. First, the wifi was completely unacceptable - from barely working to not working at all. We were upgraded to the Executive Floor - where you'd think there was wifi. I believe it was on the 11th floor. Apparently that room connects to an access point all the way down on the 6th floor. Nobody knows why. After 3 hours working with the front desk and their internet provider we had to change rooms. They seem to be quite aware of this problem. Of course, the room change came with a significant downgrade to the room. Suite to one room. Next, was the case of the missing shampoo. Our first room had no shampoo. We had to call for it. Get to the new room. No shampoo. So odd. We track down a maid and she tells us the hotel doesn't have any left. HUH? Call the front desk they end up finding some off brand shampoo (which was terrible) - at least they tried. A couple of days later shampoo returned. There were some other oddities in the way the rooms were cleaned. Just a strange stay compared to a Swissotel we stayed at just previously which was awesome. Perhaps the Grand should be removed from the hotel name.

« Great but housekeeping not up to par! »

We had a lovely welcome on arrival and although we could not have an early room we went to the restaurant and had a drink. The view is very cool, overlooking the sea. Our luggage and coats were taken care of. Our room looked great and our lugage and coats were already there. As we settled in we found some unrequested 'extras'- an opened bar of chocolate in the fridge, an oreo on the floor next to the bed and thick plastic ties in front of the side table. My question was 'has this room been vacuumed?' Poorly! We told reception and the preo and chocolate were removed. The next day after the room was made up we noticed that the toilet paper was not replaced- only a quarter of a roll left. The tea/coffe was not refilled and the plastic ties were still on the floor. Everything seemed clean though. Quality tea and coffee in the room was a bonus! We had a lovely buffet breakfast, well layed out and a wide variety to choose from. I was so pleased to find a gluten free selection and a juicer to make fresh juice with fresh ingredients. In the evening we dined in the restaurant-sublime food. With Accor silver membership the cost was halved. Excellent service morning and evening. Overall excellent reception and help on arrival, sèrvice in the restaurant and cost of stay, due to being a silver member. We were very satisfied. The reason the score is lower than it would have been is the housekeeping and the shower which was difficult to aim away from the door then the temperature was difficult to gauge.
