« Not as professional as other Novotel’s in UK/Europe »

Only an average stay rather than expectations being exceeded. I was not recognised as a Gold Accor Member and even had to remind staff member on checkin that we were entitled to a welcome drink. Not any mention of a room upgrade being made available. Bar was not always staffed throughout the day. Toiletries in bathroom were not as extensive as in other Novotel’s we have stayed at. Trying to get a table at breakfast time was horrendous - long waits. It is unlikely we would stay here again.

« This is not a 4-star hotel! »

The only reason why they can give Novotel Genova 4-stars (in our opinion) is because there is a fridge in the room. But further it really isn't worth 4-stars, but more 3-stars. When we arrived the outside of the hotel already looked a bit shabby. The neighbourhood isn't that great either, but oke let's put that aside. The elevatorbuttons are all broken or looked broken for that matter. Then when we arrived in the room, the floor wasn't cleaned properly. There were still crumbs on the carpet in some places. In the bathroom there were still hairs on the floor, in the shower on the walls, behind the door and even in the toilet! At first I only noticed the crumbs in the bedroom, but later on when I saw all the hairs in the bathroom, I dediced to report this at the reception. I asked if housekeeping could clean our room good and properly the next morning/day. But the next day, I the hairs were still present on the showerwalls, behind the door and the ones on the floor were pushed in the corners. Perhaps because they mopped the floor but didn't remove the hairs first. Our entire stay of three nights and four days, these hairs were not removed! I left it there on purpose as a test to see if they would clean the room properly. That also counts for the crumbs in our bedroom. We even removed all our stuff from the bathroom so it would be easier to clean properly for Housekeeping. Daily cleaning didn't include whiping the table in the room either. Was such a shame. Furthermore, the water has a bit of a sewer-smell which isn't nice when you have to use it to brush your teeth. We eventually used bottled water. The shower faucet isn't placed that handy either. The shower curtain has to be closed in front of it otherwise the bathroom will get wet as well as the sink next to it (where we had all our stuff). Because of this, you can't really operate the temperature of the water easily. Also when you turned the water on, water was leaking on top of the faucet so we had to switch it fast to the shower head and close the curtain fast. The swimming area is outdated too. Tiles are and beds don't look clean. The parkingspots in the parkinggarage are very narrow, but there are a few floors if you go down. Positive things, staff is friendly. And at the reception there is some entertainment for kids. Bedlinnen was also clean. We were disappointed, this hotel is not what we are used to as what Accor-hotel stands for. We love our rooms clean, that's the most important thing for us. This is also the reason why we booked Novotel because normally Accor is always good for us. Sad, but we will never go back to Novotel Genova again.

« Modern almost in the centre hotel »

The hotel was modern but a little be used. Not the hotel, but the room itself. The sofa bed was not very comfortable. Not comparable for example to sofa in Ibis Hotel near to Stuttgart. The air conditioner worked perfectly and helped us to survive from the hot weather. Also the fact that we were able to open the window is worth mentioning. The staff was very friendly and helpful by offering to park our car next to the hotel as it's higher then common cars and not suitable for parking house The soap was very pleasant due its texture and scents.

The staff were amazing, especially the receptionist Laura. They did everythong possible to make our stay nice. the room sizes were good and the air conditoner worked perfectly. The choice of menu at the restaurant and during buffet breakfast were small but food was of good quality. Sadly, the location of the hotel is not really convenient and it is not located in a good area. The decor of the rooms and bathrooms were tired and need updating. The garage is very useful. However, the space for each car is too tiny and parking was not comfortable. The breakfast items for a four star hotel was really disappointing. For example, there were missing items such as potatoes (anything made of potato), fish items and variety of cheese. We were disappointed not to see pizza in the menu, which we expected to see in an Italian hotel. The rooms had tea coffee making facility but no milk was provided. It was disappointing to see paper cups instead of proper cups in the coffee area. The bathtub had shower curtains! Even IbIS hotels have much nicer glass cover for shower. Overall, this hotel was our least favourite hotel amongst all the 3-4-5 star hotels we have stayed in. We did not feel that it was a 4 star standard hotel.

When arriving at the Hotel, there was a huge line, so I wanted to skip that at the priority check-in which I was eligible for twice with having checked in online and being platinum member. An employee came to me only to tell me that this counter is closed for now and I should wait in line. When I finally checked in I asked if an upgrade would be available and I was told to be upgraded to the executive suite, so I was happy for a few minutes until we arrived at the room and I started to ask myself if she was kidding me. It was looking no better than an Ibis or Mercure room and definitely had seen better times. There were damages on nearly everything from doors to closets. The Bathroom was old, damaged, had a tiny bathtub without a curtain or door to shower. But as the water pressure was minimal a curtain was not that necessary after all. The torture continued at the breakfast the next day - there barely was one. Everything was grazed, people were running a round with two peaces of mozarella balls on their plate because there was nothing to put on your bread, not even simple cereals beside some puffed rice kind of stuff. We were lucky that we only had to stay for one night. When we arrived at our Ibis Cannes Centre we got a much better experience for half the price!

We were only supposed to stay 2 nights but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to stay for 2 weeks. We were given so much help from Novotel staff and management, everyone was friendly and efficient at what they did. The room was clean and well appointed, it was serviced daily, and the meals were excellent.

We stop off at this hotel at least once every year and it’s always a good experience. The staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is clean, welcoming and has a good feel about it. The rooms are the same. Breakfast is excellent and sets you up for the day perfectly.

I stayed with my boyfriend one night in Novotel Genova City. We were at Goa Boa festival and we arrived very late at night. At the reception we found a very kind and responsive receptionist who welcomed us at the hotel. In the morning the personnel gave us the possibility to have a quick breakfast in the breakfast hall before our departure. Very convenient location, close to the harbour and to the way to reach the highway. Car park below the building, maybe a bit expensive, but very secure. Very good experience, we reccommend this structure.

I stayed in various Novotels in my travels but the one in Genoa was the worst of them all. Nog a nice location, all customers lifts out of order for duration of my stay of 3 days and not even coffee making facilities in Room. And you call this a 4 star Hotel?

Overall an enjoyable stay. Just a bit surprised that even though a credit card was provided as security at the time of booking, it was not possible to charge food and beverages to the room during the stay. Had to either pay cash or give the card again each time for immediate payment. Is this hotel-specific? Or linked to the country? Anyway odd in 2018!

My room was simple, clean and big. I stayed for 7 night on biz trip. The breakfast was good, the Restaurant also served good qualitiy meals. What made this Hotel different to the many I stayed so far ? The staff was really over the top in solving my Problems, which were not related to the regular Hotel Business. And succeeded ! It did not matter that the shift changed, the next colleague was up to date on the Topic and could give me Information required. Also the English skills of everyone met were astoundingly good. No question, should I be sent again to Genoa, I like to stay in this Hotel again. Thank you !

My wife and I fully understand the Novotel brand and we always consider booking your hotels before others, the room packages on offer are very competitive. However, there is one aspect of your accommodation facilities that might make me look at alternative hotels in future. I implore you to consider these comments - namely the TV facilities in the room! I stayed in the Novotel Genoa and th eTV channels on offer for someone who is English is not acceptable, the choice of English speaking channels is only one or two on offer - why? Even the ones that were recorded in English have Italian actors over speaking the original words, fine but please include subtitles at least. I recently stayed in the Novotel in Brugge and the choices available there were fantastic.
