« Fabulous Old Cataract Hotel »

I stayed for 2 nights on 27 & 28 Feb 2019. My suite with the Nile river view certainly lived up to expectations.Room has fabulous furnishings, comfy bed, & dressing room, coffee with capsule machine in a separate room, huge bathroom with bathtub,separate shower, toilet & bidet & nice toiletry. There are 2 balconies with lounge chairs, tables & sofas. I had 2 dinners at The Terrace and on both occasions the food are quite delicious. Lemon tart was a bit of a let down and they waived the charge. Such a great waiter 👍. Breakfast at the Oriental was a bit touch & go. Pastries & croissants definitely were not baked in the same morning. Luckily I wasn't particularly hungry. The other annoying bit is the taxes. They added sales & service taxes on your bill when it's charged to your room after meal/drinks which is ok by me as I expected that. But then, when you settled the final bill at check out, they added more tax on top of everything else. I'm totally bamboozled. Unfortunately I missed out on seeing the Agatha Christie's suite 😒

I was so pleased with everything! The food was fabulous. The staff could not have been nicer. I visited the spa for a massage and it was wonderful. I also spent time in the very nice workout room. Everything was very, very clean. The outdoor seating and pool was just right. My room was super.

« Best place in the world!!! »

There is no better place in the whole world for us than right there at the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan! And we travel a LOT!!! The surrounding is heaven on earth, the rooms pure luxury. The staff couldn't be better! Hossam and Mohamed at the reception make us feel like coming home everytime we get there ( at least once or twice a year). Peter and Mustafa at the pool bar together with the pool staff make us feel like family. The service at the Kebabcy restaurant for breakfast and dinner couldn't be better. I am a purser for Lufthansa German Airlines and I have to say that the professional attitude of the crew, their honest friendliness and charming, humorous way is outstanding! I cannot think of any other hotel with such a outstanding staff! Shukuran gazilan, Mohammed, Mustafa and Nabeel together with the rest of the crew, you are the BEST!!! Mia Mia 100%!!! I would also like to mention Mohamed in the Nile Wing Building from room service who took great care of my husband when he was sick and we are always happy when he knocks on our door.

Members of the staff of the hotel were doing their best to fulfill our satisfaction. Starting from reception team to housekeeping, room service, F & B members everywhere, in the terrace, the oriental restaurant or the bar by the pool, and the pool guards, everyone was racing the wind to meet our needs. No enough words would express how my wife and myself felt as if we were the only guests of the hotel though I'm sure every other guest got the same feeling.

Amazing place, the view, the place, the swimming pool... Service is lame. Luggage where not in our room after few hours, room service woke up twice at 8:30, we had to ask at the pool's bar to order cocktail and to request it, and so on
