We had a very enjoyable stay and were happy to have rooms with beautiful views over the Nile, especially room 1120 with the double terrace. It was helpful to have access to the facilities before official check-in at 15.00 when we arrived at midday. The breakfast was extremely good. The staff always helpful and courteous. Overall the quality of the stay was very high. It is a hotel of real charm and the extensive renovations of the hotel have kept this charm and helped upgrade the services on offer to guests. If there were any areas for improvement I would note the following moments in our stay. 1. There was a long wait for lunch at the pool bar/restaurant. But this was not important as we were not in a hurry. 2. The other issue is the wifi. The quality of the free wifi was poor. There is a better quality service which is only available with a charge. I believe that in a hotel of this standard that good quality wifi - which is not a large expense for the hotel - should be free. These, however, were very small issues and did not detract from enjoying our stay.

The location is breathtaking. The hospitality even surpasses the views. We celebrated our wedding g anniversary at the hotel on the 24th of December. The room, the service and the facilities were all above our expectations. Our only regret was that we had not booked for a longer stay. We were made to feel so special.

« Very special iconic building, magnificent outlook and very polished service »

I loved the ambience, the decor and the grounds. It was a wonderful experience. The only disappointment was the special dinner at 1902 on 24th December. The menu was very rich so I requested vegetarian. My request was agreed to but I think the kitchen must have been too busy to make me anything but a basic meal because that's what I got.

« Very special place with perfect services level and facilities. »

Things were perfect in general except 2 things: 1- The room readiness took longer than promissed bye the reception team with several timings those were all delayed and not met. 2- Breakfast quality and varieties are excellent but team serving it were little bit slow to respond to our request and provided hot tea and milk only after our complaint which shouldn't be the case.

Booked for 3 nights at old cataract. Experienced a lot of upsetting acts during my stay: 1- Nights were cold, no heating available in the property. Requested for a blanket at 7 PM on sunday. Received it after having to ask twice on next monday evening. 2- got a free drink pass due to my gold level at accord. Arrived at the hotel bar and the waiter did not want to serve me anything but "egyptian drinks". Had to call for a manager to finally get a glass of rhum 3 - Arrived at checkout on the last day. I was haneded over a bill for 154 euro more than due. I was about to hand out my credit card and realized the amount was wrong. Had to get the original booking in front of their eyes to see I paied part of the stay with 10000 fidelity points. They apologized saying they were going to pay my 10000 back for compensation for trying to rob me. I still haven't sen the amount transferred back :( 4- after checkout, waiting for my taxi to the airport, on the street, a employee chases me with a phone on his ear claiming I did not pay my stay. I sent him to hell.

We loved everything about the hotel. The food was great, both for breakfast and other meals. The pool was wonderful and the room was incredible. The best thing about the hotel was the service. You have wonderful people working for you. We had the most contact with Nevene, whom we met in Guest Relations when we checked in. She is wonderful with the clients and has great ability to speak English and Spanish. She answered all of our questions about life in Egypt because my wife was so curious to learn more about your country/. I will also try to write about your hotel on trip adviser.

Recently very well renovated hotel, combining the historic features with the best modern comfort. Great location with a stunning view on the first cataract of the Nile. Very nice garden and pool area. Good service. Great breakfast. Menu for dinner on the hotel's terrace is too limited and should be substantially improved.

From the minute you walk in, suddenly you feel like you travelled back in time, at a time where luxury was served to those who can afford it, titanic style. Yet as you walk in your room you find that hotelry technologies and amenities are abundant to the finest details, starting from a very responsive lighting system, a very delicate coffee and tea machine, extremely comfortable mattress and pillows. The terrace restaurant offers an exceptional view and serves excellent smoked salmon sandwiches. The staff are out of this world with their hospitality and wonderful cheerful faces. I have enjoyed every bit of my rather short stay (two days) and looking forward for soon come back to relive this wonderful experience Thanks Old cataract hotel staff for making this wonderful effort
