Excellent Hotel in the Gangham Style

Had a delightful stay at this hotel which is located in the Gangnam area, not in the centre. Stayed 6 nights in total. I was attending a conference in that area which is the reason for booking in at the property. For those interested in the city centre attractions, its a bit far but the metro connections to the centre are good and cheap (if you have the time on your hands) A taxi from the city centre to the hotel was around Euros 12. For those used to the Novotel brand in Europe, this hotel is quite different. Very much upmarket from those in Europe and more a high-quality Asian offerring. Charm level was high with an Eiffel tower adorning the reception area. Lots of bars and restaurants in the nearby area within a 10-15 minute walk radius. Couple of bars/restaurants in the hotel offering French wines and local beers. A little bit expensive but okay if moderation is exercised. The room was very spacious, super clean and well laid out. Could work very wel from the room due to the strong wifi connection and the support from the hotel's office centre. Excellent selection for breakfast which I would strongly recommend taking. Child friendly too. Service was immaculate from the check-in to the departure and everything in between. The team was friendly, well-spoken English (and some French) and super-efficient. In terms of value for money, I had an executive room on the 16th floor and the price was far less than for a normal basic Novotel room in Europe. The Executive lounge was a quiet space to work and served drinks and food between 5-7 pm at happy hour. Otherwise, coffee, etc was always available. Would go back in an instant if the opportunity came up. In short, very impressed.

Room was not well-cleaned each day - I would see hair from time to time, a biscuit crumb and slipper under the bed from the previous occupants. There were instances where the bathroom amenities were not adequately refreshed. When I arrived, a baby cot and bed rail were wrongly installed in the room (I have never made any such request and the room was booked as single occupancy). There also appeared to be a lack of communication between the front desk and the breakfast staff, as my colleague and I were told on the first day that we were not entitled to breakfast even though the front desk just told us we could go up for the breakfast. My colleague also had another incident where he was wrongly asked to pay for the breakfast. Otherwise it was a comfortable stay and I appreciated the indoor heated pool.

3rd stay for me, hotel can be easily reached with KAL Bus 6703 as it, one of the best Novotel in Europe and Asia, excellent staff, well established facilities from lobby to bar and breakfast restaurant. Health club and sauna are awesome, definitely worth the upgrade (if your schedule allows you to visit there). I'd love to return here and extend my stay for a few days.

Took half an hour to check in as there was no room I originally booked, ended up twin room with single bed No advice by receptionist for wifi access (how) etc Fan stopped working. Repair person was sent immediately but was due to how the setting works. The receptionist should rather explain instead if sending someone who doesn’t speak English. Asked to pick up the room ordered plate but no one came. Ended up taking the plates outside the room and left myself Came back to the hotel room at night and my room ordered breakfast plates were still left in the room. Wifi wasn’t stable TV remote was in Korean and no use instruction

I stay in Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam several times per year since 2010 but it looks like I will try another hotel in Seoul for my next business trip. The team of Novotel Gangnam is still great but unfortunately room facilities quite often do not meet my expectations: malfunctioning airco, leaking bathtub, stains on the carpet etc. And I got stomach problem a couple of times during last year when I ate at the hotel only: at the breakfast and at the "happy hour" in the evening.

A good short business trip at a convenient location in Seoul. Good transportation service from the airport via the Shuttle bus. Excellent breakfast selection. Room facilities were good, although it felt a bit outdated.
