« Hip, convenient, comfortable hotel »

Renovated, hip hotel with a fun restaurant/bar, modern (electronic) reception und great location for INSEAD. The rooms are good size, clean and comfortable with refrigerator, safe, TV, water kettle, fluffy towels and fresh linens.

« Proximity of part of the campus where I had to be is main asset »

Comfort in room was more than ok in terms of furniture, space and bathroom comfort. However, the airco or kind of climate regulation was constantly blowing and very noisy. Even cutting off the individual airco didn’t help. Carpet in the room didn’t help my allergy :-(

« Consistently inconsistent »

Team members at receptions are always there with smile in their face, location is excellent but hotel is certainly over priced for what you get. The hotel seem to be inconsistent in many things, Houskeeping will replenish the bottle of water in some days and never do in other days, they will clean bathroom and replenish used items in some days and never in other. Breakfast will start with all items being available but as we progress and specially when it get busy you will have many empty baskets and you will need to talk to more one person to get something, cleanliness in breakfast plate is hit and miss with many plates still have marks from previous use and coffee cups being smiley in couple of occasions.

The front-desk staff are generally very friendly and helpful, especially Elsa who went up to help me with the luggage! Elsa is an example of very good customer service. As for the breakfast, it would be good if there's more variety to the yogurt provided, instead of just plain yogurt. Sometimes the bacons and susuages were burnt which made them not healthy to eat. There could also be a boiling water station for those of us who may like to eat soft-boiled eggs. Generally, my stay in Mercure had been pleasant! THanks.

The new interior: the rooms are much better in general, but there is no shaver plug in the bathroom any more. The lobby looks good but the restaurant has a much more limited menu, and a smaller choice of wines. The breakfast routing needs improvement (bread/toast on one end, eggs at the other. Plates above your head. Chairs too close to breakfast buffet in some places. Too much black. No spoons for (limited choice) cereals...

« Poor for a four star hotel »

There was one person at reception when I arrived, with a queue of five people. At peak check in time I do not expect to have to wait ten minutes to check in. The room was very basic for the price: no shampoo, hand cream, not even a shower cap. There wasn't even a pen and paper available on the desk. The parking was completely full.

Everything was very good - attentive staff and clean, nice room. But I have two comments to help you improve- 1. On arrival at approx 1140am I had to wait until 1240pm for my room to be ready. I understand your norms on room readiness but I had made a note of arriving early and a request to check in early on the Accor app. The hotel knew nothing about this it appeared. I even checked in on line and paid in advance in the hope this would help. It didn’t. 2. Staff helped me reserve a taxi to sncf station Avon-Fontainebleau Saturday morning at 630am pick up. They were very helpful booking calling 2 or 3 taxi companies for me and booking. The ride is about 10mins. On arrival at the station I was told it was 30 euros. 10euro reservation fee plus 20euro fare. This is robbery for a 10min ride. It should have been half this rate. In any event, the front desk should have advised of the cost at booking. At least the reservation fee. Again, despite these two comments, it was a wonderful stay. James

Compared to other times I stayed in accorhotels I found the breakfast service disappointing. 2 coffee machines and not working. Food not replenished on time. The second stay in a raw that I ask a cappuccino and the answer is the machine does not work.

Staff all friendly and helpful, some didn’t have great English so I didn’t try passing on feedback at breakfast as my French is too poor! Plates for breakfast were really dirty, took several each time we were looking before finding ones without egg still stuck on them! I’m actually acutely allergic to egg so I’m extra careful! (Anaphylaxis reaction!) I would appreciate some notes at breakfast particularly on the bread as we weren’t sure on a couple of them. Room was very small, I believe we were upgraded and I therefore wonder about the size of the original room! Didn’t like the toilet separate with no sink in there! Really noisy first night, you could hear everything in the room and the music was loud! Location was great, perfect for our stay.

« good stay but bad restaurant and not according to loyalty program »

Average and not according to the Mercure standard I am used to. 1. There was no welcome dring 2. No upgrade room proposed or expressed that that there are no rooms availble, which I accept 3. Went for a drink to the bar from 20-21:15. Then moved to the restaurant and heard that no meals where served. On the menu it was indicated till 22h; The next days we went to other places in town. I observed that the employees are very young. There was a lack of management in this hotel.
