Great location but...

Dear STEPHEN B., Thank you so much for choosing ibis Amsterdam centre, and for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I'm very sorry to learn you rate your stay only one out of ten, despite you appreciated our central location. That your towels were not immaculately clean should off course not happen, for which my apologies. Please do not hesitate to call reception for this, so we can bring you clean ones right away. As for the room being noisey, I don't know if this was because other people in the hotel were loud, or it was from outside. Should you encounter noise from the station, we can check for you if the window is closed properly and such, as normally the soundproofing of the room is sufficient to keep this out. Smallest and expensive IBIS of my life. And without breakfast !

I'm very sorry to learn you were a bit disappointed in your stay with us. My sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you encountered. I can understand your disappointed in the size of the room if you were expecting a big room. However I see you stayed in one of our so called cosy rooms, which are indeed quite compact. If you are looking for just a little more space, you can also consider booking one of our standard sized rooms. You also mention you found the hotel to be old. This surprises a bit me since both the room you stayed as well as the communal ara's have recently been completely refurbished. As for the rates, unfortunately Amsterdam is besides a beautiful city, also known to be quite pricey. Our rates are competitive for the market, and change in regard to availability. Therefore I always advise guests to book in advance to find the best available rates. Walking distance 2mins from Amsterdam train central, metro and tram. We took R2 direct from Schiphol airport took 26mins. Room was in good condition and clean. We will come back.

No Air condition working

The room include air condition system but it was not working on cooling and without pre notice and not allied to the hotel website.

I'm sorry to learn you were somewhat disappointed in your stay with us. Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you encountered. You mention the air conditioning in your room was not working. Unfortunately the hotel does not have an air conditioning system. The system we have heats or cools for the whole building, in regard to outside temperature. When it is outside above 18 degrees centigrade, the system will start to cool, but only to about two degrees lower than outside. My apologies for the discomfort. Please don't hesitate to ask us for an additional fan or something like that. Thank you once more for your feedback, which is most valuable to us. We do get a lot of compliments for this but I can fully understand that this can be a little bit confusing although you will find this way of working more and more in the world. My apologies for the discomfort this caused you.. We do have paid lockers available in our hotel where our guests can store their luggage in a secure and safe way. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. I was there for a business training course and added a personal night to the booking. The lady that checked me in rudely snapped at a customer that she had just been dealing with then made a racist comment about them to me after they left. The staff at breakfast were unhelpful (asked a staff member for trays/plates and he barely looked at me to point where the trays were, he then later needed to put something in a cabinet under the coffee machine I was standing at and grunted excuse me) and accusatory that breakfast was not included with my stay when it was (the lady that checks the room numbers for breakfast only checked after I had nearly finished my food, there was no one there to check when I got there first on any morning, she didn't believe me when I said it was included even after I showed her the email). A guy at the check in desk apologised for how rude the lady was at breakfast and said he'd give us complimentary breakfast but the next day it wasn't sorted and she was just as rude the previous day. The rooms are basic and don't have plugs near the bed or a mirror. When I checked out I dropped back my key and said my friend is going back to the room but I need to leave now they didn't listen and sent new guests to the room while she was still there. She was getting changed when a stranger walked into the room! There were two helpful staff members at the check in desk but apart from that I am so appalled at the service in this Ibis. I will be in contact with my company's travel desk about my experience.

That one of our staff made a racist comment is something I almost can't imagine, but that they are making comments about other guests to you should off course not happen at all. Also the behavior from the breakfast team as you describe it is not the kind of service we strive to deliver. My apologies for this. I can imagine that was also not a good experience for your friend who was changing in the room after you checked out, and it surprises me that other guests could already enter. As for the rooms, they can be described as being quite basic, as ibis is the three star brand within the accor group, and amenities are the same for every ibis. However it is clear that the service throughout your stay was not at the level you may expect from us, and below our standards. Therefore I would like to offer you a refund of the amount you paid for your last night, excluding city tax. If you would kindly accept this offer, please send me your credit card number and expiry date for me to process the refund. Thank you once more for your feedback, which is most valuable to us. The staff were rude, the rooms were horrible, the shower would bot drain the water away so you had to stand in your own filth.

We choose this hotel for its location. It’s next to the train station, near the tourist office, near many restaurants and many Amsterdam landmarks. Our room was comfortable, quiet (even tough it’s next to the tracks). The air condition system works well. Check in and check out went smoothly. Hotel employees do not wear uniforms and do not display any visible ID badges so be prepared to be approached by complete strangers in the ‘lobby’ when you arrive to check in or when you go for breakfast.

Nice hotel, clean with excellent location next to Amsterdam Central station. Perfect to travel to other Nederland's locations like Den Haag, Delft and Rotterdam. They can improve their check in process, employess are not uniformed which make it confusing. Also, it wont hurt the hotel revenues having free coffee and tea at the lobby.

Location is good. Staff in general friendly except the barman, who wasn’t interested in serving. The lounge concept is funky but could be confusing if staff is not around.

Well located Most of the staff, not all, was very courteous Room quality is no frills attached: not even the provision of water bottles provided in the room. Kettle neither. Twin beds joined instead of a double bed. Everything comes as Add-on: Breakfast, Tea/coffee, drinking water bottle. Check-in and check-out was very simple - though we had to wait for room upon arrival but the waiting area/lounge was comfortable
