My worst Ibis experience. Complicated check-in, just one person behind a single desk (looks much more cool than previous checkin desk, but so inefficient!). No one knew about my Ibis business card. Took ages to open an account at the restaurant-bar. Invoice at check out was wrong, took 3 tentatives to get it right and 20mn delay. Not a word of excuse. Personnel does not seem properly trained. Won't blame them but the managers who seems to recruit not so competent people and give them poor training. And breakfast at 17 euros per person is a rip-off, totally unusual for an Ibis and nothing special offered for that price.

We don't have a reception desk any more but we have normally more than 1 staff member on shift. I can imagine that this was a surprise for you. Our staff walk around with mobiles and check in and check out guests. I agree with you that we need to do a bit more to make it sufficient for you as a guest. I am sorry for the inconvenience this caused you. It is surprising me that our staff was not able to find your Ibis business card and that it took a while to open your bar account, Normally these are simple actions and I will pass your feedback to our front of the house manager. This is not our normal standard.. I am sorry that your invoice was not correct and that this took a while for you. Please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience. If people start new in our hotel they have to learn this off course. We train them for 2 months which is quit good normally. Our staff is competent but sometimes we also make mistakes. From mistakes we can learn. I am sorry that several things went wrong with you and I passed your feedback to our front of the house manager. Room was small even it is for double. Bathroom too small. No wardrobe, Just 5 hangers and 3 shelves for clothing. Expensive considering the comfort and the quality.

« Lockers are too small »

We have be visiting Amsterdam twice a year for 18 years and always stay in the Ibis. The redesign looks wonderful, and the staff are always very helpful. My one complaint on this visit is that the luggage lockers are too small. We could not fit our cabin size case into the small lockers as the door would not shut. The big lockers are great but there are not enough of them. We mentioned this to the staff and they kindly let us leave our cases in a back room. Apart from that one complaint, everything was wonderful as usual.

Good location. Great bar and good breakfast. Bedrooms compact as you’d expect, but comfy beds. Shower, is good but toilet is squashed into corner of room making it almost impossible for an adult to sit on it properly. Should have been positioned where sink is.

Check-in chaotic, couldn't see where or who to do this. And I noticed this every morning with other arriving guests. Ibis staff not identifiable, looked just like all arriving guests - casual and disheveled! Still not sure why I was asked to pay for the whole booking upfront? Couldn't book anything to our room for breakfast next morning nor for a drink at the bar. was finally sorted after two attempts. Hence never able to use our welcome drinks voucher, nor did we try to use the bar or restaurant for our entire stay - preferred going off-site. Room very small for the rate; paper and plastic cups in room useless for hot drinks and not environmentally friendly as generating more waste. Staff generally friendly when you could identify them. On my limited experience of the bar I don't think staff were up to it. I've been a loyalty member since it was 1st set up in New Zealand - in fact I was the very 1st, my number was NZ1001; that was a very long time ago. Generally that has secured Accor most of my many hotel bookings over those years. This is the worst experience I've had which had a very negative effect on our first visit to Amsterdam

Our stay was ok but a bit disappointing. We had previously stayed at the hotel and had a great experience but not so good this time. We had to queue at a single welcome desk on arrival, we were then approached by someone who was sat on one of the sofas who we thought was a customer but was actually a member of staff. No verbal information given regarding breakfast and one sign says it's on the 1st floor and another on ground floor. Last time that we stayed we were able to leave our luggage on departure to collect later. This time we had to pay to use a locker and as no large lockers were available we had to pay for 2 separate small ones. Locker area was very cramped and other customers were arguing. Staff seemed confused about who had paid for breakfast and who hadnt as both my partner and I were told we hadn't paid for breakfast on separate occasions when we had paid for both of us as part of the original booking.

After several reviews about our locker room we decided to put lockers to pay for due to security reasons. We only have a limited amount of lockers and sometimes there are not enough. Not great was given a tiny room for two people. Requested A Riverside view room instead I got very loud train tracks. Staff was rude ,definitely not worth my money
