Excellent hotel in good position near the Duomo. Large comfortable room. Last time we stayed here it was a building site! Glad we persevered.One niggle. We came down to the bar at 7:00pm for an aperitif before going out for dinner and found that the barman had gone for his dinner! What a strange time to shut the bar!

Very enjoyable relaxing stay in a pleasant environment, room sound insulation was excellent. Breakfast staff were really good and a welcome start to the day. The only fault was whilst there was complimentary coffee in the room there was no tea so it had to be purchased from the bar. One day we will visit Florence again and will not even look at another hotel.

Hotel is well located and appointed with most staff polite and friendly. However, Accor invited us to check in online which we did. Having received a confirmation email our room key would be ready at 12 noon, when we arrived tired and flustered at 1pm, we were told rudely that our room was not ready as check in is after 3pm. A more senior staff member then stepped in who was professional and polite to try to remedy the problem (Nicola Masini is an excellent and professional team member ). Also a member of the cleaning staff just walked into our room without announcement while we were in a state of undress. Hotel ran out of face towels and had to go without. Breakfast dishes were not cleared for up to half an hour after guests left leaving tables unavailable in the morning. Courtesy water bottles in the morning was a positive and the hotel was clean and comfortable. Bathroom lighting was excellent.

We stayed 5 nights and would definitely recommend.. Room was clean and recently renovated. The position was perfect and within walking distance to most things we wanted to see.. Staff were friendly and ready to answer all our questions.

Property is conveniently located between the main railway station and the Duomo, but many other areas of the city are easily accessible. Surprisingly quiet given its location, this hotel offers the comfort and amenities one would expect from an MGallery property, and our room had been recently renovated. Having said this, more thought could have been put into the shower screen (not wide enough given the position of the rainfall shower head) and the service at breakfast was inconsistent.

« A Corporate chain lies beneath the Boutique hotel facade »

Overall our visit was average. The location and rooms are nice. The hotel is positioned as a boutique hotel but we found that the service did not match our expectations with some issues that didn’t seem befitting of a hotel of this price. The front desk clerk, Stefina seemed focused on getting us transacted and didn’t lend additional support when we inquired about the area, printing and currency exchange. I had heard about this stigma toward American tourists and this was the only time we experienced it in Italy. The room had a sewage smell which when we inquired about it at the front desk, we were told that it’s an old city and it happens. We paid extra for the upgrade and were simply offered “free drinks.” The breakfast was what we would expect at a hotel of this caliber. However, at 24 euros it seemed pricy and should have just been buried within the room rate. Lastly, I must have made a mistake with booking and didn’t check 2 occupants, one day into the stay we were told that it was going to be 35 extra euros a day. This was our first stay at a Sofitel and will probably be our last. The nickel & diming and the inability to exceed expectations will are probably just reasons to choose an alternative hotel.
