« A good hotel in a great location »

Communication prior to check in was great, check in process was good. Lift/key card seemed to be challenging to operate (other guests had the same problem!). Car parking good value. Rooms were a great size, clean and tidy. We did book two rooms - a little disappointing that they were on completely different floors. The other party (on ground floor) had a lot of noise from outside up until midnight. On Level 5 it wasn't as bad.

rooms are comfortable but not new, prob good as our kids are a bit destructive. Had a cot set up in our room when we arrived and happy to provide highchairs at dinner. Tolerant of our children running around in foyer while waiting for friends.

I was extremely disappointed in the standard of the Novotel St Kilda.An upgrade is a must.Approx 20 family members stayed we had the same experience as most.Credit to the staff as they were friendly enough.We went for breakfast and had to wipe our table down as it was not done when cleared from previous ppl and no one to greet us when we had breakfast.I rarely write negative reviews so I hope management at the Novotel take note.Cheers

When I got to the room I was shocked at what I was paying such a high price for. It was very old and tired. The bed had a soggy mattress and very hard base. I put the card in the slot to activate the lights and the aircon came on and made such an intolerable thumping/echo especially in the bathroom area so I pulled the card out and had no lights or aircon, just TV. There was a door for an adjoining room with a chain but the button on the door didn’t stay pressed in so I think it was unlocked. Kind of creepy. I could also hear their TV really loudly through the door frame gap area until well after midnight. So glad the hotel was booked out and I had to move hotels for my 2nd night in Melbourne, same price and exponentially better in every regard.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Novotel St Kilda. I have stayed there on a number of occasions over the years but will not be returning. I arrived at 4.15 after a three hour train trip to be told that my room was not yet ready and offered to sit in the bar with a drink voucher for “10-15 minutes” and the man on reception would call me when it was ready. 40 mins later, having not heard anything I returned to reception and was given my room key. My room on the first floor was cramped and my king bed was actually a queen. The bathroom was very dated and not very clean and the blind would not close properly to block light. The WIFI would not accept me as a guest so I went back to reception to be told “that happens all the time” and given a slip of paper with generic log in details. Later that night after I returned from the Palais at about 11pm, the bar downstairs (and directly below my room) was in full swing with a band and lots of people were spilling outside onto the street directly below my window. The noise made it extremely difficult to sleep with the band not finishing until almost 1am. The next morning I went for breakfast as I was told when I booked that breakfast was included and was also told this at reception when I checked but the woman at the restaurant said it was not. She went and made a phone call and returned and told me that “it was fine” and to “enjoy my breakfast”. Later, after checkout I realised that Ihad been charged for breakfast. Honestly, by the time I checked out at around 8.45 that morning I could not wait to get out of the hotel! We see a lot of concerts at the Palais and usually stay at a hotel in the city. On this occasion I decided to stay at the Novotel St Kilda for convenience but in futureI will definitely return to the CBD.

« A bit disappointed with the ‘upgrade’ and dated room »

Booked king ocean view room on line , which I found to be overpriced but chose Novotel st kilda because of convenient location. Upon check in I was given an upgrade however our friend who also booked a room and was with us had an upgrade to an ocean front room that was in much better condition than ours and had better views than our ‘ corner’ room. ( which I thought also had ocean front views) . We had room 334 - Spa was chipped , furniture looked old and tired , windows dirty . Just overpriced for whAt we paid ( even though it was an ‘uograde’). Later , When we tried to open the safe to get our wallets out it failed so I called reception Nd waited for someone to arrive called again and wItwaited Gain , then I went down to reception to get management to follow me to my room . I was eventually told safe battery needed replacing and that a screwdriver was needed to open it which would take more time. This made us late for our appointment so I asked for a later check out. When we returned our key cards wouldn’t work in the elevator so I returned to reception and was advised that they hadn’t been reprogrammed to our later check out time . Overall I was dissatisfied with our visit . I don’t usually complain or make a fuss but for the price we paid I wasn’t satisfied with our stay. Thanks for taking the time to read this

Stayed here to see a show at the Palais, easy parking which was included in the price, our room was on level 1 overlooking the bay, I did think it would be noisy being so close to the road but suprisingly I woke at 9am, we had complimentary wine but by the time we arrived it was sitting in water as the ice had melted. Room was small but adequate

Ate in the restaurant, sword fish was disappointing, pretty flavourless, and just served with an everyday green salad. Dessert was horrible. Ordered the gooey caramel and chocolate cake. It wasn't gooey. It was dry and whatever it was in the centre, a very hard cream or something was not palatable. No gooeyness at all. We couldn't eat it. Reminded me of a cake you would buy at the supermarket. Same with the cheesecake. Didn't taste fresh. Waitress was pleasant, only been in Australia a month. I ordered a Riesling, got a sparkling. Order another beer, bought out two drinks. Had to ask for a clean glass. Not very professional.
