« A poor night's sleep in a great location »

As always, a friendly and easy check in and the rooms are comfortable but on this occasion I experienced a terrible night's sleep because almost all night long there was the sound every few minutes of something like a water tank topping up ie. water gushing. I was in room 235.

« Very small, basic & not much choice in evening meals »

Not impressed with the hotel. Very small room, it is basic & on my last night my soap that I’ve been using all week was taken away with no replacement, no loo roll put on handle, no tea bags & sugar not been filled back in for me to have for in the evening.

« Excellent as usual, this was our second visit »

We checked in on-line and all went very smoothly, very comfortable bed and pillow; breakfast was to the usual standard except the toaster took ages and other guests toast was burnt! I didn't bother to toast mine because of the delay, maybe a second toaster?! We had Pizza and salad for dinner which was lovely. Will be visiting again in Feb. 2019.

This is almost 20 years that i come To your hotel ibis city center and till this morning saturday 8 december at 8h30 i ve never had a problem or need To complain about your staff who is very friendly and efficient. Check the history. Si i came To have breakfast and there was a table that i m used To have my coffee in front of the tv which was free but not cleaned yet. So i asked in a very friendly way and with a smile to the girl (colored red / orange hair with no name tag on her tshirt) who welcomed me at the bar if it could be possible To clean the empty table. She answered me in a very nasty way that there were plenty or other tables left free and that i could pick another one. Then she turned To the nice blond long hair colleague (also working at the buffet and who also removed Her name tag after the red haired girl has been nasty to me) To complain about my demand !!! And she glanced at me in a very bad way during all the time i was having breakfast. I m coming To your hôtel To have a good time during my stay and not that my stay s ruined by an employee who is not happy about working with the customers. Plenty of them can be nasty and exigent. I don t think i deserved such an ill mannered treatment as i have been very polite and wasn t asking for the moon.

Having stayed a few times previously, I know what to expect and the room was clean and comfortable - just what I required. However, sometime after midnight, some of the other guests who were staying on the same floor as me spoke and shouted noisily in the corridor, with doors slamming - they were obviously having a good time, unlike me! This happened several times over what was at least an hour or so and each time I was woken up. Whilst I appreciate this is a difficult problem for a hotel to deal with, and whilst I understand that one can be woken up by the movement of others in the hotel, it is not one that I have encountered in Ibis hotels before. I did not report this as it was not appropriate in the middle of the night and I had to leave early and there was no one available at the time to speak with. The second negative is the week night car parking charge, which is excessive - a shame. I pass through Portsmouth a few times a year and have stayed in other smaller independent places in the city and whilst Ibis had become my first choice, I will look again seriously at the others in future. By the way, you should always have someone on the front desk or at front of house - it's what your customers expect for a hotel of this size and price. My experience was OK but I noticed that it wasn't the case for some other guests - free advice! Thank you

Close to Portsmouth & Southsea train station and roughly 20 min walk to historic dock yard area. Friendly staff. Bathroom was comically small, tall people will probably hit their knees on the wall when sitting on the toilet! Otherwise room was fine for a short stay. Breakfast was simple but sufficient.

« Very comfortable stay with great staff providing good service and good food »

This was the second time I'd stayed at the Ibis in Portsmouth. Rooms are smaller than some competitors - Travelodge / Premier Inn - but hotel facilities are better. The bar and lounge areas are good and the food was good; I ate in the restaurant the evening I stayed and had breakfast too. All staff I came across in my stay were warm, welcoming and friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I'd recommend the Ibis to others, particularly as it has a great central location and the parking (£10 for 24 hours) is very reasonable for the location compared to local pay and display car parks.
