+ Good Service, polite Stuff, good breakfast - old built-in ventilation system leads to continuous cold air-stream in the room. Even when the heating is at maximum no comfortable room atmosphere is reached

Room was smaller than many of the other Ibis I have stayed in. Shower and bathroom exceptionally tight for space. Public spaces were cold in temperature and therefore we were not encouraged to stay at the bar in the evening. Staff on the whole were pleasant and helpful though

« poor Value for money. »

We stayed here to visit Portsmouth Christmas market. Although the hotel was clean and tidy our room was tiny and anyone over 6 foot would struggle to properly wash in the bathroom. The open plan lounge, reception and dining area was well set out but unfortunately the ‘ hot’ food at breakfast was barely luke warm, which ,considering breakfast is one thing we really look forward to, was really disappointing and we ended up leaving most of it on the plate. Having stayed at a far superior Marriott a few weeks earlier for the same price we do feel that the price didn’t reflect the hotel and we could’ve booked a premier inn much cheaper and had better value for money.

« Cold comfort »

The hotel was clean and fine for a travel stop but the rooms and restaurant were freezing, it's not normal that everyone in the restaurant eats dinner wearing their over coats. The temperature inside the hotel is not acceptable.

I have stayed here many time over the last 10 years and was always impressed. This time however, I was shocked to see the main desk gone with a couple of staff booking people in via mobile phones and a single solitary laptop. The result of this - I personally whitnessed so many new arrivals wandering in and out asking random people (me included) where the reception was and when shown the response I had was 'Oh really - that little desk, surely not'. Food - always a plus point in previous years, this time food was below poor (I can give details if necessary) with nearly no winter vegetables and hardly any vegetarian options, instead replaced with mostly fried. I wished to stay for lunch and after the 3rd person I asked whilst waiting 5 minutes between each person, then was finally told there is no lunch menu so I couldn't eat before setting off home. The rooms however and the remainder of the facility was absolutely fine. I complained to hotel management but they were very uninterested - all in all I had decided to cut my stay short and leave a day early and not sure if I will stay again. Kind regards, David K.

£49 advertised price, I went into reception where a lady booked me in, a little after 12am I arrived & was told I could have the room after 2pm, I'd had a long drive & wanted to rest so I had to pay extra to have the room early, next I was told I had to pay extra for parking so by now I'm over £60, I then went to my room 303 & found the bathroom very small, after a shower I put the tv on quietly & lay on top of the double bed in just underpants & nodded off to sleep. Then I woke to a young couple bursting in the room!, both parties were shocked & I was highly distressed, i got dressed & went to reception asking how on earth had they activated 2 sets of room cards for 2 bookings on the same room? Receptionist didn't really give a straight answer but instead fobbed me off with a drink token. There was also no bin available in the room. All in all not a good experience & I'd be very reluctant to use this company again. Yours sincerely Tim T.

I have stayed with you several times but this time, our room was freezing. When we checked in despite it being a freezing cold day the heater was not on. I managed to switch mine on manually and increase the temperature but even when we returned later the room hadn't really warmed up. I woke up constantly throughout the night as I was so cold. My friend was unable to turn her heater on/up and she had to sleep in her dressing gown. I would have though the heater should have been on on arrival with it being so cold. It has put me off staying there again.

Fantastic service, clean efficient hotel, great practical room. Just what we wanted! The staff were very friendly and showed a great level of customer service. I've stayed here a few years ago and following the refurbishment its 100 times better. Highly recommend.

Sadly our stay this time was disappointing for many reasons. The check via a phone type hand held wondering about is not satisfactory - one needs to be focused at check in, the taking of the card deatils was muddled - and even more so at check our with two invoices etc. The room was cold, the heater quite insufficient when the weather was cold - and of course went off when we went out - so still cold on our return. the public areas were far warmer!! The bathroom had a number of problems: the loo seat was loose and not stable; the basin did not drain easily, possibly part blocked; the shower head probably needed a new washer and water was spraying sideways; and its controls were very stiff. At check out from our two rooms, whilst both room had additional breakfasts to add: for one room the full deposit had been taken and a 'refund' was organised; the second room the amount seems to have been taken, and another invoice was needed to pay the extras. So far this has produced three emailed confirmations - so I am waiting to see if two or three rooms were invoiced!! Certainly the system of taking 'impressions' to run a 'tab' seems to have become very complicated - one doesn't know what was charged with any certaintey. On the plus side, my silver status had been acknowledged and we enjoyed the welcome drink [when we returned - the hot chocolate warmed us up before returning to the cold room - and the chocs in the room etc. were enjoyed.

Stayed for 1 night en route to Santander. All staff we encountered were extremely pleasant and helpful. Must compliment certain staff in particular Hussani for his help in carrying luggage from our car to the room so that nothing was left on show. Also Adam, Reception supervisor, for his professialism and attention to detail and Loriana and Jardine for their service. The food at dinner and breakfast was very good, and nicely presented. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the many interesting sites in Portsmouth. Our only criticism is that the spotlessly clean shower room was very small but at least it didn't have the dreaded shower curtain. This would not prevent us from staying at this hotel again and we certainly have no hesitation in recommending it.

« Smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in! »

Communication and customer service excellent. Can't fault staff! Good location. Not enough parking and expensive! Bit of a cheek to charge £7 per day on top of booking fee. Room small. Dont bring a cat... Bathroom even smaller... thought I was on an aeroplane!! I've had better for nearly £90 a night!

Very good value for money, hotel is very modern with lots of stylish touches. Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms are compact, but everything you need is provided. Bed super comfy. Bus stop outside for Gunwharf, and Co op next door. Bar prices very reasonable. Only downside is the bathroom, which is tiny, as is the shower. Overall a great budget hotel.

Booked early checking no room available, not a good start, staff were lovely, not there fault, but dont sell something u dont have, if i had seen you 15min promise to fix problems, i would have waited to see if a room appeared. Hotel very clean and tried bathroom a bit small

Staff attention was good, I was on the top floor and there was some obvious roofing leaks especially in the corridors. Room small but everything went together well. Bathroom was extremely small. porthole window would not close properly as fixings damaged. needed a bit of folded cardboard to close off the road noise etc. Shower good, Parking reasonably priced. Breakfast good and other food options reasonable.
