Close to Portsmouth & Southsea train station and roughly 20 min walk to historic dock yard area. Friendly staff. Bathroom was comically small, tall people will probably hit their knees on the wall when sitting on the toilet! Otherwise room was fine for a short stay. Breakfast was simple but sufficient.

From when we arrived to when we left all staff we met were polite. A clean & comfortable room, which was good value for money. A very nice breakfast with lots of choice (AND a proper toaster). My 2nd stay & it didn’t disappoint.

« Very comfortable stay with great staff providing good service and good food »

This was the second time I'd stayed at the Ibis in Portsmouth. Rooms are smaller than some competitors - Travelodge / Premier Inn - but hotel facilities are better. The bar and lounge areas are good and the food was good; I ate in the restaurant the evening I stayed and had breakfast too. All staff I came across in my stay were warm, welcoming and friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I'd recommend the Ibis to others, particularly as it has a great central location and the parking (£10 for 24 hours) is very reasonable for the location compared to local pay and display car parks.

Toilet and shower room was exceedingly small. If you weighed 20 stone you would not be able to get past the wash hand basin to sit on the loo !!

When checking in it was quick and very friendly all the staff we talked to were very helpful and friendly the rooms were clean and comfortable and as a platinum member the extras waiting for us in our room were very much appreciated. I have stayed here on several occasions and have been impressed every time I stayed there I will definitely be coming back thanks to all staff for a great stay. I would also like to say I have stayed in many Mercure hotels and I find the Portsmouth ibis more friendly and cleaner than other hotels I have stayed in.

The beds had been separated into singles as requested on booking, but housekeeping had been careless when making up the beds, with linen half tuck up and under. The mattress felt as if I was sleeping in a tube, there was no support, and the pillow so high, that I had to get up to take painkillers for my back and neck! The bathroom only contained shower gel and soap, no other toiletries ?!

We only stay for one night, eat in restaurant and have breakfast which is great and plenty of choice. We have 3 small terriers so very happy they allow pets. It’s ideal as close to ferry for onward travel.

« Disappointed with the lack of managers response to a disturbance which police attended and disappointing breakfast »

It was ok. There was a disturbance in the room next to us to which security and police attended, bearing in mind it was late at night it could have been handled better for the benefit of other hotel guests, the police were dealing with the matter in the hotel corridor, outside our room, at 12 o'clock at night. The breakfast was sub standard, clearly been cooked a long time beforehand and left to go dry, disappointed at the lack of choice on the cooked selection. The room was far too hot, we asked for a fan which never arrived.
