The hotel was ideally situated for our stay. Checking in was easy and the room was comfortable. The room was quiet apart from the air con that was a little noisy. We didn't eat in the hotel but the coffee was very good. It would have been nice had there been hot drink facilities in the room. The car park was below the hotel and spaces were reasonably sized.

I was pleased with the ease of check in, and the location was very convenient. The room was quite small and a little claustrophobic for me but we didn't spend much time in it. The room and bathroom were small and although dated were very clean. Breakfast was very good value, we were impressed. The only problem we had was exiting the car park as we hadn't been given a token when checking out.

When we arrived at the hotel there was only 1 room available so the girl on reception rang through to -Baafs Kathedraal and reserved another room as we were a party of 4. We parked at Ibis Centrum Opera as we had spent over 1 hour trying to get to the other hotel. I think it should be advertised on website that it is virtually impossible to get to the Ibis by the Cathedral. The room at Centrum Opera was ok but the bedside light and the toilet seat were both faulty, If it had been me staying in the room I would have rang reception for somebody to fix it, but it was my elderly mum and sister that where staying there and they didn't like to complain. The room wasn't cheap and should have been up to standard.

The romos of this hotel are very old and need a big renovation. Rooms are smal, showers with low water pressure and price is high comparing to the quality of them. Breakfast is not bad, but expensive. The atmosphere of the hotel is nice.

The check in staff were efficient, friendly and very accommodating (I'm an awkward customer!) The bar staff were the same, went the extra mile! The room was kept clean and tidy and I was confident about leaving personal belongings in the room, a little thing but important to me!

Everything was fine except that there was construction going on outside our window starting at 6am . I also was a bit upset that we could not get any help in getting air conditioner to work so we could close the window in morning as it was warm and therefore uncomfortable since we couldn’t open the windows .

« Great location but do not sleep on the street side and first floor »

Location was perfect, staff friendly but I slept on the first floor facing the street for two nights (Thursday and Friday). I woke up in the first night from the toilet flushes around 2:30 am and could not sleep again. I think I was not the only one as at least 5 people starting flushing right after... On Friday night, I left the window open because it was too hot and the airco was too loud and making the air more dry than was necessary. My goodness, the downtown Gent is loud, people party till 4-5am. Feels like you are a part of the party when you would like to sleep instead. I slept terribly again. Love the location and the price but next time I will ask for a room on the 4th that is not facing the street.

The rooms were clean and well presented. Small but you cannot do anything about that in a great location. The carpark however could do with the entrance being smoother and a lick of paint would help.

« Nice till the last night »

A nice hotel, slightly basic but still good. Friendly staff, OK location. I had three problems with the stay, the first two minor, the building site next door started at well before 8 and the cranes made a very noticeable whirring noise and the way the room was laid out, the head of the bed was closer to the wall than the blackout curtains so they reflected the sunlight onto the bed rather than blocking it out. The bigger problem was on the last night, the room opposite got very noisy at about 10:30. I had to call down to reception three times to ask them to quieten them down. They finally went out at about 1AM but came back in at 6AM and started banging again. Not really the hotel's fault but still spoilt what was supposed to be a final good night sleep before heading home.

I use Ibis because I know what to expect, even on the downsides. This time the aircondition in the room was noisy and when operating it provided only cold air, while outside it was 15 degrees. Thankfully it was not a problem to just turn it off. Wondering whether your staff notices such things.
