« good but my card got deactivated a few times, and sleeping with window open is not possible because of ambulance/police sirens. »

Very good. They could have an option of a small breakfast for people that need to leave at 3 am to catch a train.

« Loud construction noises - staff very unhelpful »

I am extremely disappointed as I have stayed in Ibis all around the world and usually rave about them. My husband and I were woken up early in the morning by loud construction noises including drills and jackhammer sounds for over an hour. This also happened all afternoon as we checked in so we were unable to stay in our room or nap. We could not stay in our room while this is happening as it gave us a headache. I asked reception to make the noise stop - the first time the reception just ignored my request & didn’t acknowledge the inconvenience and the second time the receptionist said he would see what he could do, but nothing happened. I feel very ripped off and frustrated that we did not even recieve an apology for the inconvenience. I have always loved staying in Ibis as they are clean, comfortable and in good locations, but I am seriously considering not going back after this incident.

There is nothing to discuss about - we have had some workers here this week and of course it was not as calm at our hotel as it usually is. Unfortunately sometimes construction works are unavoidable, which you probably would have had understanding for in case you would have been informed properly. I am truly sorry that this did not happen and I will talk to my colleagues about it. As a compensation I would like to offer you 2000 Le Club AccorHotel points. The first room I received was not cleaned, the toilet was very bad. We changed room and the new room was good. You should consider having English languages on tv and also maybe selling food and not just sandwiches.

Terrible experience from the minute we arrived. Completely ruined our visit to Cologne. Although the staff were good we struggled to get any help with our issues. The room was tiny, the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in whilst in an Ibis, Formula 1 rooms are bigger than this one was! As for the shower, neither of us could turn in it without knocking a wall, the tap, which altered the temperature or the split glass door and we’re average build people! The shower took ages to drain so we had to stop the shower for a minute to let it drain or it would have flooded the place. The air conditioning was useless, it was sat blowing the cool air at the window and behind the curtains, so we had to mess about with the way the curtains laid to get any cool air. Finally, we were rudely awoken in the morning by workmen drilling and hammering, which sounded like it was above us, we were on the 8th floor. However when I went to complain I was told the workmen were on the 1st floor, so it was obviously loud! We really wanted a lie in and when I complained I was told they’d be there until 6pm and i was dismissed with a smile. This has put me right off Ibis hotels. But if we thought this place was bad we were in for a shock at Lille!

I felt very much at home because none of my questions went unanswered. with guidance from the hotel staff I was able to use the train service and get around the city wit ease. i was provided with maps to help me locate market places and train station and other places i needed to visit.

The overall experience was satisfying. However, we assume a significant amount of rooms have a non-working AC. When we checked in, we got a room with a non-working AC. After asking for a room with a working AC at the reception, we were offered a room change. Since some of our friends were staying in this hotel some weeks earlier and experienced the same behaviour, we assume this is currently a severe problem in this hotel.

For mid summer no aircon not working properly was not a comfortable night. No extra pillows were in the room. Reception was good and very clean otherwise.
