Wow! Right in the centre - Peak season and not a sound - Best nights sleep, no noise inside or outside. Perfect base for exploring La Rochelle. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Rooms not big but have everything.

We had a lovely time at the hotel, easy to find via sat nav & car parking was very close. The room was cleaned every day. Nothing was to much trouble for all the staff, who helped us with everything especially with our limited French language. We chose the hotel because of the central location & it accepted our young dog. We would definitely stay again & recommend to friends & family. Breakfast was first class & set us up for the day ahead.

It was a nice room. Small bathroom but it was ok. Breakfast was lovely, had a very good breakfast lady, she was always friendly and happy and smile, nothing was any trouble for her. Lovely friendly reception staff and good English speakers. We would stay there again.

Located a little away from the main busy streets but still within easy reach of the harbour. The concierge was very welcoming and helpful. The room was small but comfortable

A little difficult to access by car, but fortunately a handicap-parking place exists close to the hotel. Very central for the market-place, the churches and the harbours.

« Extremely disappointing because of the rudness of one receptionist »

I am giving a negative review because a receptionist maned Laure was extremely unprofessional, rude and dismissive, toward my entire family. Sadly I believe her attitude was racially motivated (I am black, my husband is Brown and my two children are mixed). Clearly Laure could not bring herself to treat us with a minimum of respect. She would not even greet us in the morning but would make a point in greeting every white individual (telling them bonjour, wishing them bon appetit on their way to the breakfast room, smiling to them etc..). We never even got a bonjour, which in my view is the least one can do when working in the front office. I was attending the CIEF conference in La Rochelle and booked a family suite. The CIEF is an international conference attended by French professor from around the world, we are from all backgrounds ( French, American, ....). We have had our conference in many countries, so far I have attended it in San Francisco, Canada, Martinique. I never had issues with unprofessional staff. I am not asking for special treatment, but I am paying like every one else, and should be treated like every one else. I will make sure that the CIEF is aware of what happened, and we will bring our business elsewhere next time. Be aware that Laure will be the reason why we will not deal with Ibis again.

Les hôtels Ibis sont désireux de vous offrir la meilleure qualité de service pour vos séjours ; par conséquent, votre avis est très précieux. Cependant, il me parait important d'évoquer avec vous le jugement que vous semblez porter sur Laure. Je peux vous assurer que cette personne n'est pas "raciste"comme vous le supposez, de part son parcours professionnel et de part sa vie privée. De tels propos à son encontre l'ont profondément affectée. Peut être pouvez vous douter de son professionnalisme ou de son accueil. Je me suis d'ailleurs entretenue avec elle à ce sujet. Par contre je ne peux pas accepter de telles accusations, non fondées, qui pour moi, de nos jours, sont très graves. Durant le Congès CIEF, nous avons accueillis des personnes d'origines diverses, japonaise, américaine.. Ces mêmes personnes nous ont fait part, lors de leur départ de l'hôtel ,de leur satisfaction. Soyez assurée que jamais je ne tolèrerai dans mon équipe, une personne tenant des propos racistes, homophobes et autres. Jamais. Je suis présente sur l'hôtel tous les jours, et si le cas venait à se présenter, je saurais appliquer la sanction en conséquence. je vous prie de croire, Madame S., en l’expression de mes sentiments les meilleurs. « Lovely hotel, very poor payment procedure - may not use Ibis again »

The day before staying with two friends the cost of the booking for the three rooms reserved was blocked from my debit card. I assumed this would be the payment for the rooms. However we were each expected to and we did pay for the room we used, including me, despite the cost being blocked from my account. It remained blocked from my account for a whole week, so five days after we left the hotel! I consider this to be completely unreasonable, to have no legitimate business reason and if this continues I will not use Ibis again.

« Shame that the rooms are so small »

It is such a shame that the rooms of this hotel are so so small. Nowhere to hang your clothes so you have to live out of the suitcase and the only place to open the suitcase is on the bed as there is not enough floor space. There is more room in a cheaper hotel like formula 1 but for double the price. It is a shame as it ruins the great location and the friendly staff. Apparently many people who have visited this hotel have made the same comment.

« Great location, good amenities, but... »

Very happy with the hotel and service, despite air conditioning that didn't work (blowing warm air despite setting thermostat to lowest temperature). Also, the odd structure of the wardrobe meant that I couldn't see the shelves without sticking me head into it. As such, I forgot clothes I had placed on said shelves. I admit my mistake, but I'm surprised I didn't receive an email from the hotel to let me know about my forgotten clothes - unless they're are still on the shelf because room service can't see them either!

I found the room comfortable with an efficient use of space. Though the room was small there was enough space for me. The room was warmer than I would like but I was by myself and did not feel confident enough to leave the window open. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection of food. I'd stay there again.
