« Excellent but no Air Conditioning »

Excellent welcome front office very attentive and helpful. Hotel needs air conditioning - fans not enough - for 100 euros could have found a room with air conditioning,in town Will not stay again on return journey.

« We were made very welcome »

A very quiet relaxed atmosphere. All staff members that we met were friendly and helpful. The young lady manning Reception gave us excellent advice whenever we put queries to her. Our room was rather small but adequate. Breakfast was very good and suited our tastes.

Disappointing. Fairly expensive for a small room, no restaurant in the hotel, no air conditioning

« Very Good Mercure »

This is a relatively small hotel. It is convenient to the AutoRoute, has good parking and clean comfortable rooms however the best thing about it are the staff. They are very professional and friendly, our welcome was first class. the breakfast was fresh and regularly topped up. Over four days this was a nice place to stay.

« A disappointing experience in a Mercure hotel. »

The hotel was conveniently located for the motorway, but unfortunately it was rather disappointing inside. The hotel was slightly scruffy, and my "superior" room was small and quite poorly equipped (with no air conditioning on a very hot day), even after I changed to a slightly less small (and slightly less hot) room. The lack of dining opportunities meant a drive into Alencon for dinner (although the breakfast was fine). Overall, I did not think that I received value for money for my stay, and I was somewhat embarrassed that I had invited four friends to take rooms in the hotel with me.

« Clean, comfortable Hotel, OK for one-night stay. »

Satisfactory for my needs. Brillant staff - friendly and helpful. Room - clean and tidy but this hotel is getting to the stage where a refurbishment is due (carpets and decor looking tired), also particularly for a hot night there is no aircon. Food - evening meals are not available but there is a first class restaurant next door and other options in town, breakfast in the room good but nothing special.

Excellent location for an overnight stop off. Very welcoming and helpful receptionist. Bedroom and bathroom need updating. Very tired.

« Perfect for overnight stop »

Perfect location for overnight stop. Front of house was very good, friendly and attentive, nice little bar and outside table for a drink, good breakfast and rooms perfectly adequate for over night stay. Location great for N'ways.

« Staff were friendly and room comfortable »

We arrived late as we were traveling, the staff were friendly and quickly got us checked in. Room was comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast.

« Disappointed »

I booked a disabled room and was assured that was what I got. However I couldn't have a shower because you cant get a wheelchair under the shower and there was no seat. These rooms should NOT be sold as disabled accessible.

« A convenient hotel on our journey. »

The hotel is basic and the bedrooms now require upgrades - in Spain we stay at a superior hotel at 60% of the cost! The ground floor has been upgraded now it’s the bedrooms and bathrooms that require attention.

« Mercure Alencon »

Excellent small motel with ample parking, close to N28 and convenient break on journey to and from the Channel Ports. Alwaya a friendly reception, comfortable rooms with well equiped en-suite; breakfast provides a comprehensive range of continental and English alternatives.

« Good overnight stay. »

Friendly service. Good utilitarian room (101) for disabled. Pity no on-site dining but twas ever thus : we treated ourselves at the nearby Macdonalds! Room rather mean on towel size and coffee supplies. Comfy beds, good quality clean linen. This room, like the hotel generally, is rather 'there's and could do with a bit of a facelift/investment. For 80+ euros, it is not a cheap option.

« Always mercurial »

Having driven to the continent via the Chunnel, Alencon is a handy stopping of point, being within a few hours of Calais. We stay here quite often ONLY because of the proximity to Calais. It's certainly not our favourite Mercure but it 'does'. This time a lovey youg very friendly helpful receptionist called Kristina. Its the first time we've met her. Kristina speak English, as my French is a little rusty. She told us ur restaurant of choice was fully booked, being right next door to the hotel, however, she booked us in at another, and arranged an excellent taxi for us too. She is without doubt THE friendliest most helpful girl in the hotel. and ade or sty all the more enjoyable, fixing us drinks, in nice glasses, with ice and a slice etc. Sadly this was not the case when we had a nightcap prior to retiring as we were handed 2 liquers in thick large tumblers. Not pretty and not used for liquers. No finesse I'm afraid. Kristina was off duty by the and the usual woman was on duty. sadly she's never very friendly.and could use some tips and hints of presentation, etc.We are loyalty card holders but felt the room was terribly small, although when I asked was told it was a larger room than normal. The breakfasts are good however, so that's a real plus point.

« Needs refurbishing »

Hotel and facilities are a bit 'tired' -- Hotel could do with modernising. We had booked a large room which was quite comfortable. We did hear late night noise from the adjacent restaurant when the restaurant staff were leaving. Easily accessible off the south motorway - Supermarket and petrol close by.

« Nice Little Hotel »

Arrived in the Car Park which is in need of resurfacing, initial thought - is the rest of the hotel going to be like this? Entering the reception area I found, to my relief, that everything was clean and tidy and obviously cared for. Efficient, friendly receptionist quickly allocated my room and showed me to the lift. Room small but adequate for purpose, bathroom with shower (no bath) very convenient as I have a slight mobility problem, all clean and tidy and, later, I found the bed very comfortable and had a good nights sleep, with the curtains drawn the room was sufficiently dark and extraneous noise absent although the room was directly over the main entrance to the hotel and facing a main road. This hotel does not provide evening meals but, next door, is an independent restaurant which is top class. Breakfast served in my room was nothing special but adequate and tasty. Efficient check-out, finally bill as I expected, no problems. Reasonably priced and you get what you pay for. I'll be back.

« Great Little Hotel »

Arrived in the car park which needs to be resurfaced, difficult to walk on with my knee problem. However, on arrival in reception, greeted by a pleasant and efficient young lady who had a limited command of English (not important to me as I speak fluent French). She quickly provided my room key and showed my to the lift after explaining that the room I was allocated (number 201) had a walk-in shower rather than a bath which is brilliant for my knee problem. The room was small but adequate for purpose and spotlessly clean. The bed I found extremely comfortable and I was able to get a good night's sleep, although the room was directly above the main entrance to the hotel I didn't experience any extraneous noise at all and the curtains did their job and kept the room dark. In the morning I took breakfast in the room, it was served at the time requested by a friendly lady, the breakfast itself was basic continental fare, nothing special, but good and filling. Check out quick and efficient. Overall, a pleasant stay and good value for the price paid.
