Hotel at the edge of town but very easy to walk to the port and the centre

« Good Location, Friendly Staff »

There was a very quick check in and everyone was really helpful. The room was clean and pretty big.

« Thoroughly Enjoyable »

The room was quiet, clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities one might need. The hotel personnel were at all times pleasant and professional. This was perhaps the best Mercure we have ever stayed in, and we highly recommend it.

« clean rooms, friendly reception staff »

We stayed one night. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. Great location for the train station and to walk into town. The only complaint was nothing to do with the hotel itself, but it was to do with the advance check-in I'd done. Prior to our stay I'd received an email inviting us to check-in. I couldn't see a down side to doing this. But having done it I received an email advising that a really excessive charge (double the cost of the actual room) had been placed on my credit card - to be refunded in full on my departure, subject to any extras I may want to consume during my stay. When we checked into the hotel it was all rather complicated. I was told that I hadn't needed to do a pre check-in after all. It was just an automatic email sent to guests prior to their arrivals and was more suited to business travellers. The receptionist needed to find out what administrative arrangements needed to be done to ensure I wasn't charged on my credit card for the "deposit"- which she did. She then arranged to cancel the pre-check-in deposit I was facing and I simply paid directly to the hotel on our departure. What a waste of my time. But the receptionist was very helpful.

« There aren’t many good selection of 4 stars hotel in Ajaccio so MERCURE is a good choice »

We (2 adults and 1 child) stayed 5 nights in the junior privilege suite on the fifth floor. Size of the room is ok. Bathroom is a bit small. We liked the two windows facing the port. They can be open, view is nice. The room is bright and generally comfortable. The hotel has friendly staffs and good breakfast. I would give 10 if the hotel provides free shuttles to and from center of town.

Good location, great rooftop view, room a little small but very clean. Could not get the room temperature right so had difficulty sleeping. Elevator is small and very slow. Very nice staff at front desk.

« Great location. »

The hotel is sufficient for a short city visit. Street parking is plenty. View is great. Window can be bigger.

« Small rooms but clean »

Pleasurable check in Staff, rooms were clean but nowhere to open a large suitcase. Location is fine.

« Lovely hotel »

They recognised my platinum status and looked after us well. The 3 bed room was large and well equipped. The only disappointment was that breakfast was not served on the terrace as we had expected.

« Bad location, tiny rooms »

Location is bad, windows face either noisy highway, either internal yard with reconstruction inside, rooms are very tiny, breakfast is very poor

« Nice and comfortable stay »

We visited Ajaccio from Calvi, which was our headquarters during our 14 day vacation on Corsica. After a busy day with Napoleon I was glad as Le ClubAccorhotels member to learn in the evening that my room was upgraded. My Wife praised the suite more than twice. The stay at the hotel was a pleasant experience from check in until check out. Not to mention breakfast. Thank you!

« Disappointing hotel »

A very basic hotel. Staff were very good but our so called junior suite was not up to standard for a Mecure Hotel. More in line with an IBIS Styles.

« THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T LISTEN TO TRIPADVISOR ADVICE »

It began with the check-in. When we got to the hotel I had a few questions about our online check-in (or as the receptionist insisted: online chicken). Our (double) room had been booked and fully paid for about two months ahead so I did not understand why the hotel charged us again with the sum that was nearly twice as much as had already been paid. Practically the hotel was unable to clarify why we were charged nearly three times as much as we were expected to. I think this was partly due to the poor English skills at the reception. This second double charge was released from my account one month after my stay in this hotel. The second issue was the “free welcome drink” business. One drink was offered for the two of us in spite of the fact that we had paid for a double room because “only one of us was an accor card holder” as the receptionist explained. We got a blank voucher which was valid for one drink. In the past couple of years were have always been offered two drinks when there were the two of us and this is what happened at the next Mercure hotel where we stayed. I am still wondering what the idea is behind this policy – I mean how to share one drink between people. I have to admit there was one bottle of “welcome” water in the room which was much easier to share. So the advantage of being Platinum card member is to have half a free drink and the have and an extra 560 Euros blocked on your card. We have been travelling in different parts of the world but this was our first experience of this kind. At the end of the day we offered our “welcome” drink to the manager, who probably never received our message as it was still lying on the reception desk on departure day. Luckily we could afford a few drinks in the city and of course a bottle of good French wine in the evening made us forget these incidents. The third thing was the room. Miniature size. This was the smallest Mercure room ever. Smaller than in Tokyo. Everything is tight and uncomfortable. The rack you could put your small bag on is 2 cm wider than the space for it. So it is useless. Fortunately we had only one bag with us. There is no room for a bigger one. The safe is in a dark hole, you normally cannot see what is written on it (grey print on black background) but luckily we had an excellent electric torch and we finally found the instructions inside the safe. Quite a few other dysfunctions in the room: there is a standing lamp in the corner the switch of which is on the floor so if you want to turn it on you have to move the table that is squeezed in the corner as well to the side. The tap in the shower is so awkward that you always get your hair wet even is you do not want to. There is a broken chain on the door that cannot be used as if the room had been broken into. It is not clear why the chain has not been removed. Perhaps to scare the guests. We had a view of the harbour (which is much better than the awful view of the rooms in the back), however, you cannot sleep with the window open because of the terrible noise of the traffic in the street. The only advice we took from other Tripadvisor reviews was to forget about the overpriced breakfast and we had breakfast in a nearby café or bakery. (Excellent croissant and coffee next door.) When we were checking out Laurie (who was the only receptionist whose English was finally very good and who was the only one who greeted the guests entering or leaving the hotel) tried to give an explanation to our concerns and apologized and smiled when saying Good-bye.

Excellent.

« A disaster from the start. »

Room washing line did not work. Maintenance man not available. Moved twice to finally get a room that did work. A priveledge room was more like a sub standard room with a supposed courtyard view which did not exist. Air conditioner was useless. Had prepaid 10 months prior and was not satisfied so checked out after 2 days with no refund at all - although we had paid on a super saver deal this is less than average with no recompense even though we gave more than 24 hour notice and hotel fully booked. Their taxi cost to airport was almost double the price we paid to get there.
