« Lovely hotel! »

Really enjoyed my stay in the Novotel, Sheffield Centre. Good central position, close to shops, university, Peace Garden, Cathedral. Really helpful staff, especially an Italian Maitre D, who's been in the hotel for 25 years. Breakfast buffet is delicious. Rooms perfectly lovely and bed comfy. Only problem was that I don't go to hotels often and so am not au fait with the tipping rules. A lovely lady carried my bag from the bag store when I was leaving and I think I upset her by not tipping, but I only realised that afterwards when I got a curt smile and sarcastic

You could hear a buzz sound in my room everytime I turned on the lights. One of the staff members promised that it would be taken care of the next day but nothing happend during my 2 nights stay.

I stayed just the one night after a course within the hotel. I found the facilities lovely, the room was spacious and very comfortable. I also enjoyed the breakfast after a good nights sleep. Nothing could have been done to improve my stay.

« Great comfy hotel in an ideal spot, very good. »

On the day of our stay I rang the hotel about parking and a lovely friendly female answered. She described the car parking and then asked if there was anything else she could help with which there wasnt. It was a quick and easy check in after we parked in the car park for our overnight stay. We were offered an upgrade and decided it might be a good idea, so we got robes, coffee pods, and water in our room which I thought was ok for an extra £15. Our room had a great view towards Sheffield Station and was a lovely spacious room, nice lighting and facilities. Overall a lovely experience.

« Welcoming reception, exceptional room, scrumptious breakfast and conventiant for station and conference. »

Only one night, I was barely there; however from the minute I arrived reception staff were very welcoming and supportive. What a lovely idea to arrange drinks and nibbles in the bar for new customers - that was inspirational. I wish I could have stayed longer.

« Ok but not great »

Stayed on a city b. for a wedding for four nights. Room was hot at night with no air conditioning, opening window meant the room was incredibly noisy so it had to be closed. Toilet didn’t flush well, and took a couple of days to figure out. When we reported it they just said there was a “special technique” to making it work. Location is great and rates are reasonable but for a bit more it’s worth looking at the Mercure next door in my opinion. Staff were nice at Novotel and helped out where they could.

My overall impression is that the hotel is not meeting basic standards for upkeep and cleanliness. I stayed in room 512. The shower dripped all night, causing trouble with my sleep. There was mould throughout the shower stall.

I arrived very late beacuse of trains delay (more than 3 hours of delay). I phoned reception desk and the person on duty prepared all the check-in so that I could get to bed as soon as possible. Special thanks to Steven !!!

The service was excellent, rooms clean, food good but did feel the choice was a little limited. The showers were good and roomy but for anyone a bit limited in mobility and balance grab rails would have helped.

« Unwelcoming reception staff - never get another chance to make a first impression! »

Reception staff was rude, unwelcoming and unknowlwdgable. I felt that I was having to point her in the right direction, like asking for a card upon check in. The bar staff didn’t know their stock and also had us hanging about as they didn’t know prices and were having to radio other staff members for advice. Pool was freezing, hamman not working and no help from staff (plus on another floor so a little awkward when already in your bathing suit!!!) Bedrooms were nice but not what I’d call deluxe (their description) and there was no working air con The room ladies were lovely and helpful as were he restaurant staff I have no qualms about employing foreign mationals, it’s a great idea for like speaking guests to be understood but I wish our check-in lady was the same for us as I didn’t feel welcomed, heard or given the full welcome I’d expect from Novotel The staff did leave my daughter a lovely card and some cakes for her 21st which were a very nice touch, so thank you for that The catering team were also very helpful, welcoming and polite

We do not have air con in bedrooms, the system we have is an air flow system wich is not as powerfull as an air con.
