Very nice hotel. Clean and comfortable, the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The breakfast is too expensive, so we bought some sandwiches and had them in our room.

« Hard to reach »

The hotel is very hard to reach on foot. Service was ok. Design of rooms doesn't make sense to me (e.g. no towel rail at washbasin; no one switch to turn all lights on/off simultaniously, etc.) Bed was too soft and made strange noises.

After a couple of years as a Le Club Accor Platinum card holder, I am now "downgraded" to a Gold card, since much of my travel is in Sweden, where Accor has more or less pulled out of the market now. But with almost 60 hotel nights last year, and 32 of them in Accor hotels in Europe and North America, I guess you could say that I am a seasoned traveller. Having previously stayed in Novotel Amsterdam (which, as you know, is nowhere near Schiphol) and the Ibis at the airport, this was my first stay in your hotel, as I wanted an airport hotel, but a higher category than the Ibis. (I usually aim for Mercure or Novotel whenever possible). Overall I must say that I had a fine stay, but I would like to draw your attention to a few issues that I encountered. None of them are show-stoppers, and they would not deter me from booking in your hotel again, but I think they are worth mentioning anyway, as they leave room for improvement: - I arrived on Monday into Schiphol airport. I knew from the hotel website that I needed to go on a shuttle to get to the hotel. I had mailed the hotel last Friday (using h1… as stated on the website) to ask if the shuttle ran to a schedule or if I needed to call the hotel for pick-up. I never received a reply to this mail. - When I arrived in the hotel on Monday evening just before 18.00, there were 5 other guests waiting in front of me in a queue to check in, and only 1 staff to handle them. Being Le Club Accor Gold I looked for the Priority Desk sign, but since it was placed at the very end of the check-in desk, with no dedicated working position and no staff, it did not indicate that I could go there for priority. So I waited patiently in line for almost 15 minutes before it was my turn. - Due to my Le Club Accor Gold status I was upgraded to a Privilege/Superior room, according to your desk staff. I was in room 329. While it had the Nespresso machine and the minibar was free of charge, the room did not contain bathrobe and slippers. Nor did it have a sofa, as indicated by the room categories listed on the Accor website. Was this some kind of 'in-between categories' room? - In the minibar there was a small bottle of white wine. The bottle had been opened and was only half full. I took it to the front desk and showed it to your staff (Denise, I believe her name was - definitely something with D!) and I have to say that she handled the situation very well: 10 minutes later she brought a whole bottle of house wine to my room as a compensation. This was definitely above and beyond my expectations :-) I'm just mentioning the episode to draw your attention to the fact that the room maid should have seen the open bottle when she made up the room from the last guest. - Your breakfast buffet is quite expensive at 22.50€ list price. In light of that high price, I found the buffet to be lacking in its contents. Compare with the breakfast buffet at Novotel Amsterdam and you will see that yours is quite small. And please, please, please change your Scrambled Eggs to be made from real eggs, instead of the pale, bland product you serve right now. But as I mentioned earlier, these were only small hiccups that I encountered during my stay, and I would definitely stay with you again, next time I need an Accor hotel near Schiphol. Your shuttle service was good and ran exactly on-time. And even though my mail with questions about the shuttle had not been answered, I had no problems locating the shuttle at the airport, and I also found the posted timetable there (your colleagues at fx. Novotel Milan Malpensa and Mercure Frankfurt Airport/Kelsterbach could learn something here - there are no timetables to be found at these airports!) All the staff that I was in contact with (front desk, restaurant, bar, shuttle drivers) were friendly and courteous and every single one of them were good ambassadors of your hotel. While the hotel building is no longer new, everything is very well maintained, the decor is pleasing (but please provide a proper desk chair in the room!) and the room and bathroom was impeccably clean. So if you just improve on the issues mentioned here, I'm sure my next stay with you will be even more pleasing than this one. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast was great but we had serious problems with the hotel shuttle. We could not make contact with the shuttle on arrival at the airport because of insufficient information and had to take a taxi to the hotel. When we arrived again a week later and planned to take the shuttle from the airport to the hotel after dropping off our rental car. We waited over an hour for the shuttle back to the hotel after being told that the shuttle was running on a regular schedule. When I called the hotel I was told that the regular bus was broken and a different one was being used. The crowds were so large at the pick up point and the sign in the window of the substitute bus was so small that it passed us twice before I called the hotel. We almost missed it a third time.

Airconditioning not working as we tried to turn it on in the night. Unfortunately not the first experience with this problem with Accor hotels in spring. Seems to be turned off on purpose, as I could conclude form the front desk. Bad policy.

« Loved the hotel. »

We had a great time. Easy access to the city and couldn't have asked for better from anyone working there. Night receptionist was particularly helpful to me one night! Young guy he was helpful. The only thing that didn't really suit us was the food menu in the bar but we are awkward to cater for and we know it.
