The hotel is fantastic, rooms very clean, staff helpfull and friendly. Right next to the hotel there is a big shopping center and only 5 minutes walk to the city center.

Lovely room and outlook - very impressed that we were immediately given change of room when TV in first was not working - room made up each day really well - superb location - friendly welcome - foyer renovation in progress during stay was only a minor inconvenience - can tell it will be an impressive entry space when finished - loved Bordeaux and want to revisit

« Hotel was a building site due to refurbishment »

The hotel was in the middle of renovations. No lounge area available & no comfortable seating in our room, so nowhere to relax. Temporary carpeting in reception & plasterboard walls visible. Fire doors propped open, very dangerous. Not what we expect from a 4* hotel. Staff, however, were very friendly , helpful & professional, but no apology made for the state of the building. A very disappointing experience. Prior warning of the renovations should have been given.

« Very warm and friendly welcome »

I teceived a very warm and friendly welcome by Mr William at the front desk. He was very helpful and gave me lots of local info and interesting tips that helped me enjoy my stay at Bordeaux. I was also delighted to have a free upgrade and free minibar. The room was very clean and lovely ambience. The breakfast was delicious and sumptous. The restaurant staff were attentive and helpful. The location was convenient to trams and buses. In fact the airport bus stops almost at the hotel. I The free wifi worked brilliantly well. I really enjoyed my 2 day stay and can recommend the Mercure Bordeaux Centre Ville as the perfect place to stay in Bordeaux.

Reception hall was dirty and very unconfortable due to the reconstruction works, it would have been good to be advised before. Room wasn’t cleaned any day. Instead of having any sorry about the conditions of the hotel and the poor service they were very rude and didn’t give any apology or compensation. At the end, the receipt was wrong... Never again!

Room is clean and spacious, slightly bigger desk in the room would be better. Hotel employees were friendly. Breakfast was good, a little variation in the breakfast menu for different days would be good.

« Amazing staff terrible environment »

The hotel was undergoing construction. I was not told this prior to my booking. I use The Mercure Hotel group a lot when I travel around Europe and the staff and building are always impeccable, this is why it was very disappointing to see a 4* hotel looking like this. There was also noise from the building work which caused disturbance. If I had know that the hotel was undergoing work I would not have spent £154 for two nights I would have simply looked else where. Due to this I feel that I am in receipt of compensation as nothing was mentioned or labeled when I was making the booking. I would like to add all of the staff members were extremely polite and welcoming. This complaint is no reflection on them. They provided an amazing service. The building however was not one of a 4* standard.

The receptionist Florian was excellent particularly in helping us to park our large people mover. As our vehicle was too large to park in the area allocated to the Mecure she made arrangements for us to park in another area of the public car park which we would have not been able to do without her assistance.

« Nice stay, but there are few things to improve. »

First of all I would like to mention how satisfied I was with our arrival and check-out. Reception staff was very welcoming - I would like to mention escpecially Clemence, she went above and beyond. She made us feel welcome, she was efficient and very helpful. To be honest she was one of the most professional and amazing receptionist I have ever met. However - online check in - I don’t know if it’s hotel’s policy - I got text msg with information our key would be ready on our arrival. But it didn’t happen - everything was done when we arrived (at other properties keys are ready with the vouchers, discount cards etc. There is no need to spend more time at the reception). As gold member we got a voucher for a welcome drink (just for 1 person - maybe it’s also your hotel policy that the drink is for a Member only - however other hotels offer drinks for all of the guests accommodated in the room, not only for a member). When we went to the bar we were advised we could have chosen ANY drink from the menu. So we did. But when they were made and arrived to the table we were told that we have to pay for the drink as we could only have beer or wine or soft drink. As a Member of LeClub Accor there was no welcome amenity at all. And the last thing - my preferences on the web says room away from the elevator - what I got - room in very close proximity to the elevator. Our stay generally was good, but not excellent - there are still a few things that need to be improved.

For the welcome drink, I am really sorry about the situation. In fact some hotel propose it for all the people in the room but it is our own choice to give it for only 1 person and for only a soft, a drink or a wine glass. Accor hotel request and send us the welcome drink with all the policy directly written on it. Be sure that it is something that I will share with them in order to be sure that you can enjoy the same services everywhere. We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.The rooms were spacious , clean and comfortable. The only negative point was that the breakfast had been sitting on hot plates for too long...we had previously stayed at the mercure in Toulouse and the breakfast had been fantastically fresh so perhaps it was overshadowed a little from our previous experience. It was a shame as everything else was very good. It is not situated in a particularly picturesque part of town but it was in convenient walking distance of the centre.

« Unexpected Building works »

Hotel was good until Monday morning when the workmen turned up. There were notices in reception saying that refurbishment work was being done. We got back to our floor from a late breakfast and their were workmen everywhere working on most of the rooms with considerable noise. We were getting things together in preparation to check out and the power went; no lights no lifts nothing!!! Fortunately one of the workman lent us a battery light so my wife could finish up in the bathroom and we then had to struggle down from the 3rd floor with our cases etc (other were less fortunate). Reception had loss power as well and it was clear they were not expecting it, so checking out was confusing. Not a great way to end what had been a good weekend. The single girl in reception was confused as to what was going on and was not in the least apologetic as to the way we had been treated - not a good way to treat guests Mercure!!!!

Comfortable like all Mercure hotels. Breakfast particularly good. Current renovation works in lobby area are depressing. Location of hotel in rundown area behind modernist, brutalist, shopping centre, is highly unappealing.
