We were delighted with your hotel. The staff were attentive and so very helpful, especially the receptionist on the days we arrived and left - she was so kind to us. The quality of the rooms and the food in the restaurant, where we dined, were excellent as were the staff in the restaurant. Thank you so much for an extremely pleasant stay.

« Good, but not entirely suitable for us »

Parking access only fair and distance between bay posts far too small. To exit this large car park, we had to go down 3 floors, then up again. I had intended getting my bike out, but could not exit without a special; arrangement to open the door. We also did not like the very dark room and poor lighting making reading difficult. Although a full length window 'door', trees out side in a very pleasant park blocked light. Easy to walk from the hotel to a nearby large shopping mall and the town, but hazardous to cross roads for a walk along the river. Breakfast excellent and evening meal good in a pleasant restaurant. The Ibis is on the same site and it did strike me that it may have been cheaper and allowed access to the same car park and restaurant

« Good position , good staff but lousy A/C »

As above- staff very friendly and helpful , spotting that we were entitled to gratis breakfasts (that were good). Only downside was A/C was hardly working and fan provided made industrial scale noise ! Stall apologised and gave us free parking to compensate- good use of intiative.

« Air conditioning not fit for purpose in the room. »

Hotel was nice and clean and as expected but air conditioning in the room was next to useless. Arrived back at hotel after a bite to eat in Rouen town centre to find the room at 27 degrees c which did not change all night. Could not get any proper sleep which was the whole point of the stop over as had a 9 hour drive the following day. Did revive free parking when I complained about the temperature in the room but wish I had sleept in reception as that was nice and cool. Needless to say the following day journey with wife and 7 year old was hard work.

« Excellent location at great price »

Hotel easy to find, short walk to all the main points in town. Excellent breakfast spread. Friendly greeting - toys for kids and a free ice cream in foyer a lovely touch. Premier Room was comfortable and large. I asked for extra bedding which was delivered immediately. Negative: Bathroom was a little small for a family. I think it is cheeky to charge for parking but it wasn't expensive. AirCon was very noisy.

« Great breakfast, lovely staff »

Staff were lovely from start to finish and our family room was super clean and well set up. Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn’ working properly the night we stayed which meant it wasn’t a great nights sleep but that was just bad luck really. Would happily stay again as a stop over as Rouen itself is a lovely place to wander around.

When I checked in the afternoon of saturday 30th I was told the air condition was not working but they were working on the problem. What I found out was as follows: -the air con was only going to be fixed the following week. So front desk cannot say they were working on it -90% of the hotel has that problem of no aircon (not true as floors 1 and 2 were functioning) -problem arose on Friday morning according to one reception and other said problem a week. Thus I cannot trust the staff -i went to front desk on Sunday to say I cannot stay for the second night as it was warm (though I was given a fan). Opening the windows caused mosquitoes to bit us through the night and we have a 1 year old toddler. -i cancelled second night and booked Mercure in town -only after breakfast did I find out that air con on floors 1 and 2 were working and the hotel was going to upgrade me to a privilege room with working air con. They could have done that since I checked in. -i had no confidence in the staff, refused the offer and moved to the other Mercure which had way better sincerity and hospitality. This one was of my first few times using Accor instead of Starwood and I was extremely disappointed by the professionalism and hospitality.

« Good reception and bedrooms but restaurant was terrible »

Our welcome at the reception was very good and we were pleased with the quality of the rooms. We were also pleased there was a car park as we arrived late and wanted to ensure there was somewhere for us to park. However the dinner in the restaurant brought the overall experience down somewhat. The service was extremely slow, and at one point we were left in the corner without having ordered a dessert while a waiter cleaned empty tables on the other side of the restaurant. I had to go and ask for him to serve us as we had young children who need to go to bed. Unfortunately also food was not up to standard, especially for the relatively high cost.

Overall a good experience with good recognition of my Accor Gold status and pleasant staff. Our priveledge concept room had a very strange design scheme which wasn’t to my personal taste but I like the idea.

« Great room but slow service in bistro »

A very large comfortable and warm double bed. Elevators were larger than most. Stale Rhone wine but big juicy burger and tasty salad in bistro. Parking garage, 3+ floors inside @ .60 cents per hour is tight quarters to park. Many offerings and fresh orange juice in breakfast. Head breakfast person nuked the runny scrambled eggs when I complained about them, so they were dry as I liked them.

I booked the hotel via the accordhotels.com website the same day, just a few hours before check-in. I saw the accordhotels.com "best price guarantee" while I was doing my reservation on-line, only to find out when I arrived to the hotel that the price of the room at the hotel display was cheaper than the internet rate that I had paid 30min earlier... :-( I mentioned this to reception and she updated and reduced the price of my room. however, she only reduced the price to the room price displayed at the hotel, and she did not include the further reduction of 10% that you describe in your best price guarantee in your website. I did not ask for it directly because I felt embarrassed of complaining for a 2nd time but I think this should have been offered by the reception team directly. Also, I told her that I had stayed in the other Mercure hotel in Rouen the night before and that I had forgotten to mention my loyalty card to reception during the check-out. I asked her if it was possible for her to add my points from the night before in the other hotel. Her reply was that I had to contact the other hotel myself directly... that was disappointing for me as I thought this could have been sorted there directly there. Additionally, I found the smell of the room a bit unpleasant. I am not sure if this had been a smoking room before, a previous customer smoked in the room, or any other issue with smell... However, the room was very quite, the quality of the bed, matres, pillows etc very good and I had a good sleep that night.

« Rouen is a must »

A great start to our visit to a vibrant city. Welcomed very warmly by the reception team in English, we had attempted our French, and nothing too much trouble. Allocated a very clean and comfortable room on a higher floor overlooking the park at the rear. Without exception all the Mercure team at Champ De Mar .made us feel very welcome. We will visit again as soon as possible, without hesitation.

As the Cathedral Mercure was full we were transferred to the Champ-de-Mars. On the arrival we were given the room 212, which in our opinion should not be allocated without prior warning: it’s claustrophobic, it’s damp and it’s depressing, it felt like a bunker. However, we are delighted that the reception staff were able to allocated us in another room on the upper floors. PS. For a SUVs the parking it’s extremely tight.
