« Rouen is a must »

A great start to our visit to a vibrant city. Welcomed very warmly by the reception team in English, we had attempted our French, and nothing too much trouble. Allocated a very clean and comfortable room on a higher floor overlooking the park at the rear. Without exception all the Mercure team at Champ De Mar .made us feel very welcome. We will visit again as soon as possible, without hesitation.

As the Cathedral Mercure was full we were transferred to the Champ-de-Mars. On the arrival we were given the room 212, which in our opinion should not be allocated without prior warning: it’s claustrophobic, it’s damp and it’s depressing, it felt like a bunker. However, we are delighted that the reception staff were able to allocated us in another room on the upper floors. PS. For a SUVs the parking it’s extremely tight.

Probably use this hotel at least once a year. Relatively easy access from the motorway. Very clean, great breakfasts, helpful staff.

« Lovely staff but shabby room »

We stayed for one night while travelling through Rouen. We found the hotel lobby and bar to be very nice, the staff were very welcoming and kind. However, the room was not very good at all. There were numerous broken bathroom fittings and the room was a bit shabby and old. The bed just had a single pillow each. We were also a bit disappointed to have to pay for parking on top too. Overall, fine for one night, but I probably would have chosen to stay at the cheaper Ibis for the standard we got and we wouldn't stay again.

I recently stayed at the hotel for a business trip. The hotel is in desperate need of updating. My room from the rug, to the drapes and bathroom was very worn and dingy. My air conditioning did not work and I asked several times to have it looked at, and it was never fixed. The restaurant has a limited selection of food, although what they have is quite good, and the wait staff is friendly. The front desk team was efficient when checking both in and out of the hotel.

Good hotel excellent service especially your reception staff. I was staying in France and I needed to modify my return booking. No hotel phone number!! This request your computer system was unable to effect. As a last resort I sent an e mail to the hotel and I was delighted to receive an answering e mail from your reception confirming the change I requested. The other reason you didn't get a 10 was your car parking arrangements are truly awful - to narrow and to many twists and turns - but realistically there is not much you can do about that.

Location is really good with easy access and it is only a short walk to the centre of the city. However the rooms are a little shabby and in need of an update. Cannot fault staff but no recognition that we are members unlike last year.

« Pleasant stay, good breakfast, a little expensive in comparison to previous stays at Ibis next door! »

Friendly check-in. Room just large enough for the three of us. Beds comfortable. Evening meal in the restaurant was hit and miss - good burgers and puddings, a bizarre main course from the menu du jour - overcooked lamb in a tasteless sauce with a small portion of tasteless vegetables and no potatoes or pasta to accompany it. Breakfast was lovely. I have paid almost 50 per cent less to stay next door at the Ibis though and a few extra bits at breakfast (which seemed the only difference) wasn't worth the extra money. The charge for a dog was also excessive - again cheaper at the Ibis next door. We stop off in Rouen regularly on our trip to/from the UK and in the future I will choose the Ibis every time.

Good hotel with easy parking. Restaurant is not the best, it was better sometime ago. room service was ok but no burger in room ! very strange when in all the world they do room service burger, it's a classic! Bed are ok in privilege room. Large room. Bathroom ok. staff are friendly.

Fine, with the exception that I booked a room with a walk in shower but at check in our room had a shower in the bath! Fortunately the man on reception located one, but what if he hadn’t been able to?

Pleasant hotel with rather dull rooms. Restaurant rather expensive and our fish and chip dish was spoilt by very poor cooking of the fish. A shame since previously we have had some pleasant meals at this hotel. Cost cutting?

Normal Mercure, good position with parking. This time I had a single room very disappointed, more like an old ibis room. bed was uncomfortable, floor was old in plastic. Amenities were the minimum. Towels quality very poor. only one big and one small. no minibar . It is not a 4 stars ! carpet on the way quite dirty. Need renovation ! Room service was good. staff ok.
