Staff very adorable. But rooms quite dirty and need to be renovated like has been the mercure parlement.

« Brief stay but perfect for our needs. »

It was quick overnight stay. Breakfast was welcome and reasonably priced. The hotel is walkable from the train but as we had big heavy bags we took $7 taxi ride. Check in and out was easy and the staff member was very friendly and helpful. Having a burger place and subway store close by was a godsend as we were too tired to go out and eat.

The Mercure Centre Gare in Rennes is an adequate hotel but whereas once the name Mercure was synonymous with being a little be better than the average hotel, it now is nothing more than a non descript 3* hotel that meets the travellers most basic needs, ie a roof, a bed and a bath, but provides little to make the memory stand out. The hotel itself is tired with money obviously being spent on the corporate areas but little seems to have been spent on the residential areas. The food for breakfast was generally poor with cold bacon and a scrambled egg that has more to do with flour and water than it has with a chicken. Whilst the staff were very good, the hotel itself is not very welcoming, the tiny little windows may have satisfied the architect but make the room more like a cell than a bedroom. the local area of the hotel is poor with a lot of noise during the night, and the air conditioning is a complete and utter joke, being nothing more than a fan to move the air around and no cooling capability at all. The lack of toiletries in the bath room, apart from a meagre piece of soap and a tired shampoo dispenser do little to welcome the guest. Overall, the modern Ibis Styles hotel is a better place to stay than the current crop of Mercure hotels if the Rennes Mercure is representative of the brand - and having stayed at a number of Mercure hotels I am afraid it is a "good example" of a Mercure hotel. These hotels need to up their game significantly if the name Mercure is to once again represent a hotel worth staying at. One more point, although the hotel was booked under an arrangement with the French Military who arranged the venue and the rate, when I provided my Silver status number upon arrival I received no recognition of being an accor club member, nor have I been credited with any points from my stay.

« Good stay in Rennes »

We had all in all a good stay in Rennes. When we arrived the hotel staff was very friendly and gave us additional information on Rennes and dining possibilities with local specialties. When we entered our room there was a very very strong cigarette smell, which I find impossible that the cleaning staff missed while cleaning... However, we called the reception and they fixed our issue with an odor absorption device. We had to vacate the room for 2 hours. This is why the 8. Otherwise, great stay and competent staff!

« Ok hotel, good location »

Really bad experience. Staff were good but our room key stopped working, we had to sleep in another room. We could not access our luggage until just before midday the following day. We had none of our toiletries or night wear. We received a full refund/free breakfast and offered loyalty points for accor. More than likely will never use them. A wasted evening really so the loss to us was more than the money anyways.

I was on travel for work to the Astellia office and wasn't able ot recieve the contract rate for part of my stay. Additionally the air within my room was broken for my entire stay which made it difficult to sleep as a result I would open my window but the streets were quite loud at night.

« Nice rest after an active trip »

Carole at reception checked us in immediately upon our arrival, gave us a city map and advice on finding the items we were shopping for, an area to find a restaurant for lunch and a pleasant park to walk in. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the TV had multiple channels, there was a water boiler and coffee and tea available.
