« Fantastic stay »

Hotel was brilliant, staff attentive and well trained. Would recommend to anyone coming to Amsterdam. don't be put off that it's slightly out the centre, metro is round the corner which takes 10 minutes to get to centraal station. Great hotel.

« Bit overpriced, and let down by some staff and standards »

I was here to attended a conference at the Amsterdam RAI, so the fact it was a mile away from the RAI was good, however it is very far out from all other areas, including the metro. The check in was very quick and friendly, and the reception was very welcoming and nicely decorated. I was informed of my room number and directed to the lift. I had booked a privilege room, which was on the 11th floor, which meant I had a high rise view of the surroundings. The room seemed a bit smaller than I maybe expected, but the bed was very big, it had a rainfall shower which appealed to me, and the room came with a complimentary mini bar. I was aware of the fact the clear bucket seat that is in the room had some mysterious stains on it, and fragments of what appeared to be cannabis and tobacco!! I didn't want to alert the staff to this, but I thought it was worrying it seemingly hadn't been wiped down. On arrival I opted to hang up my clothes and also iron some shirts. The iron works on an automatic shut off, meaning you get 30 seconds of ironing, and then it shuts down for minutes. I was also aware of the fact my white shirt suddenly had a pink mark on it, which appeared to have come from what looked to be a liquid stain on the ironing board cover!! The staff did replace this, but weren't very quick to apologize for the stain on my shirt as a result! I was in a canal facing room, however there is construction work going on nearby, however I think the alternative is a highway facing room, which probably isn't much better. On the first night, I had been at an event late, and rang down to ask what food options I had. I was told I could get a pizza from the bar, for €15, as it was now after 10pm. I asked when I could get that till, the answer was "anytime". I went down an hour later, and asked for a pizza, I was presented with a takeaway menu. I informed the guy I was told I could get a pizza, at "anytime" and he said no, the kitchen is closed, but we will do it as a one off. I then waited 35 minutes for said pizza, by which time I was falling asleep. The breakfast was very high quality indeed, and there was something for everybody, it was all replenished very quickly and wasn't simply kept warm under heat lamps as with most establishments. The hostesses were very welcoming on both mornings, despite how rude some guests appeared to be to them!!! I needed to check in for my return flight and print my boarding pass, I was able to do this with ease and for free on the hotels computers in reception, something which saved me a lot of hassle. I opted for an evening meal on the second night, and my experience wasn't brilliant. I went to the restaurant at about 9:15pm or thereabouts, and was given a seat. I was given a menu and waited around 15 minutes for my order to be taken. I am not sure if I was forgotten about, but eventually my order was taken and I ordered the Mercure burger with chips. It arrived around a 15-20 min wait, and was very nice. However, when it came to me requesting a desert menu, something I take to be as standard in most a la carte restaurants, the lady abruptly told me, "the kitchen is closed, no deserts....would you like a drink?". I have never known guests who are already seated, who have already consumed a meal, be refused further service. On two occasions I ate at the hotel with the exception of breakfast, and both times the staff and their levels of service, really let the hotel down. I am not sure I would visit this hotel again, it is let down by some staff members, and their levels of service and how they treat guests, particularly in the restaurant etc.

« Lovely hotel , friendly staff, great price »

I was part of a cycling group staying on Saturday 15th July. I decided to stay an extra night to see more of Amsterdam. The hotel was very clean and the staff were approachable. Breakfast was lovely. Great range of options and long opening times meant there was no rush. I appreciated the later finish time on Sunday morning. It was a late night ! The hotel gave me a great deal for the second night. I am grateful. It avoided checking out and moving to another hotel on Sunday. The only downside is the hotel location. It's a way out of the city centre. It's okay travelling by train in the daytime. However, the trains stop running around midnight. So, it meant a cab costing 30 euro's to get back to the hotel. A small moan. I really enjoyed Amsterdam. Very friendly and no pollution compared to other cities.

Even though they gave me a nice room, they double charged me for city tax and still hasnt returned it.

« Very enjoyable stay »

I'm amazed how the Mercury brand can vary so much. The Amsterdam City is an exceptional hotel with fantastic staff. I will choose this hotel for any future stays in the city. Compared to the central Mercury in Bordeaux these are chalk and cheese. Accor should hold this hotel up as the benchmark for all Mercure's

« Truly 4 Star Hotel ! »

We stayed at Mercure Amsterdam City during our vacation trip to Amsterdam. We enjoyed our stay and it became more memorable after our standard rooms were upgraded to Suites. The staff at the reception were very friendly and always had smile.Though the hotel is at walk-able distance to the nearest Metro station, there was a free shuttle service (at given time slot) to Metro station which is highly appreciated. Its truly a 4 star Hotel and will definitely recommend. We will come back !!

« Not Bad - Average stay »

The rooms are pretty good , the breakfast has nice variety . The hotel has the policy of getting 5 euro coupon if the person does not want the room to be cleaned. I got a coupon but when i went to the bar, the bartender asked me if i have a machine to print the coupons , i found it a little rude .

« Really welcoming staff and beautiful hotel »

We were delighted to get such a lovely welcome from the staff on arrival. It was my partner's birthday and they went out of their way to make it a very special stay in the city. The room was lovely and comfortable and although the location wasn't city centre, it was very peaceful and actually really relaxing to get away from the hustle and bustle at the end of the day next to the river. LOVED the boats in to the centre in the morning, that was a great touch.

« Good value for money »

Good location, very good service and VFM, considering to rebook in future. I liked the coffew facility and the late shop at the reception. Only one complain: the room and courtains were a bot dusty!

« Great beds.  »

Staff were extremely helpful. Only problem was shower fluctuated a bit but otherwise the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. A little further from the centre of Amsterdam but that was reflected in the price. Maybe another signpost at the metro would be useful but the building is tall enough to spot.

« Great stay overall would highly recommend! »

Myself and my husband stayed here for 3 nights in July to attend a concert at the Amsterdam arena. The hotel itself is about 15 minutes on a metro from central station and we never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for a metro to come along, they are so frequent. We have been to Amsterdam a few times now and this is the busiest we have ever seen it. So we were thankful that we stayed outside the central area. The hotel itself is everything you could ask for. The staff were so friendly, its clean, comfortable and very quiet. The weekend we were staying was fully booked and we never heard a peep. We didn't eat in the hotel so cannot comment on that however for anyone that loves to sight see but values their rest time, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

« Staff is mesmerizingly crisp, running the show the pleasure-cruise style.  »

We got in. Fast flow. Staff uber kind and instantaneously solving things. Otherwise, all services are good and there. The location was also great for our purposes, maybe a little hint: iGaming event was taking place at the RAI so if Your sales Manager looks into it, a good offer to the management of iGaming Business, which is a subsidiary of Clarion Events is in place for the next year and if you pull it through, You can reimburse me with an accommodation for the duration of the event. Best, Aljosa
