« relaxing , elegant »

excellent sanctuary from nearby hustle of Cour Mirabeux... room very comfortable, modern bathroom, comfortable bed, excellent lighting....breakfast super.... easy walk to all sites within Aix. Staff very helpful. though the breakfast staff seemed a bit busy, depending on hour - ? a temporary staffing issue.....

« Not a good start, but ended well. »

We booked our stay through a London travel agency in Dec. 2017. Upon checking in, we were told our room was ready. We went to our room only to find that it was a room for someone with physical disabilities (not something we required or requested). It had a large bathroom wide enough to roll a wheel chair in, and there was no shower curtain or glass to separate the shower from the toilet and sink. Also, we were suppose to have a pool view, which I paid extra for, and our window primarily looked over the sun umbrellas in the patio. We had a partial pool view. We returned to the front desk and asked for a room change, stating we wanted a room with a regular bathroom, and didn't need a handicap accessible bathroom. The desk attendant did not apologize for assigning us that particular room, and questioned my statement that it really wasn't a pool view room. Upon checking, he stated he had another room, however it wasn't ready. He asked that we check back in an hour. We left and returned in @ 75 minutes, only to be told that the room still wasn't ready. He then said that it would be @ another 15 minutes. We waited @ 30 minutes before approaching the the check in counter again. After a few calls we were told that it still wasn't ready. I then positioned myself in the lobby where the desk person could see me. After a few minutes he came over with a drink voucher, and said we could enjoy a complimentary drink while we continued to wait. After another 15 minutes or so, we were told our room was ready. This time we were placed in a regular room, with a full pool view. The rooms aren't that large, so I don't understand how it couldn't have been thoroughly clean and ready in an hour as originally promised.

The room itself was very clean and comfortable (though quite noisy facing the street), and the breakfast and pool were both excellent. The television did not work, though, and there were problems with the shower (at one point I had to have someone from reception come up to screw in the shower button, which had fallen off). There were a few instances where the reception staff could have been more helpful. When I first checked in, I had been traveling for business for almost 40 hours, and I checked in at noon; I was told that the room wouldn't be available until three pm, which is fine, but it would have been appreciated for the staff to offer me a gratis drink or refreshment at the bar, or some gesture to make me feel welcomed. Another example, one evening I had been swimming, and when I went up to my room my card was no longer working; I went back downstairs to the reception to have the card activated, but the person on duty was helping a couple make restaurant reservations. This is of course fine, but I ended up standing at the desk in a wet bathing suit for almost 10 full minutes without being acknowledged at all - the concierge was making phone calls to the restaurant, printing things, going back and forth with the couple, without so much as looking me in the eye and saying 'I'll be with you in a moment' or asking a colleague to help. And when I finally was helped, the concierge did not even apologize for the wait (again, I was standing in a wet bathing suit for an extended period of time). On another occasion, I asked a different concierge for advice about visiting a coastal area near Aix as a last-minute day trip (I had an unexpected window in my work schedule). I indicated that I was interested in going to Cassis or Marseille, just to visit, and that my preference was to use public transportation. He provided me with a brochure for a tour guide company doing organized tours, but none were offering tours on the day I had availability, so I again asked about using public transportation. Instead of offering suggestions or even referring me to the tourist office, he discouraged me from using trains or busses, and suggested alternative organized tours that were not to the coast (essentially not listening to me at all). I ended up going to the tourist office and getting very helpful advice - Marseille was just a simple 30 minute bus ride away, and I had a wonderful time. On another occasion, on the first day of my stay, I asked a person at the reception whether there were any rooms with terraces available in the price threshold of my room, which had been organized by my work company. He replied, "yes, but you have to pay 60 euros." Which was the whole point of my question - I wanted to know if there was anything available within the threshold of my current room, not whether there was anything more expensive. I'm also a bit mystified by this quote, as the posted rates indicate that my "classic" room was 199 euros, and rooms with terraces started at 229 euros (this is a 30, not 60 euro difference). Anyway, overall my stay was satisfactory, but the front desk could have been a bit more helpful and warm.

in the centre of aix en provance , well equipped bathroom and a bed that can reach a 60 cm height if you remove all the upper layers of the mattress . personnel very helpful and kind . the restaurant pricey and without a great variety but it is not a problem as in 500m there are lots of restaurants and cafés . breakfast quality and service very good .

After the railway strike forced us to drive from Paris instead of taking the train, we arrived on a Tuesday evening shortly after 9 pm. Your front desk personnel were extremely gracious and allowed me to park our rental car out front for the night. Check-in was very smooth and after dropping our bags off in our room, we returned to the restaurant/bar off the lobby to enjoy our complimentary cocktails and to have a light dinner before the restaurant closed. Wednesday was spent sightseeing, followed by an outstanding meal at a local restaurant, Le Gambetta, which is located a short walk from the hotel. When Thursday arrived, we checked out and with the assistance of your front desk personnel, took a cab to the TGV train station for our trip to Nice. All-in-all, a very enjoyable - if short, stay. We look forward to coming back when we can stay a bit longer.

« Nice arrangements for birthday getaway »

I am very glad that the hotel made special arrangements for my birthday getaway (e.g. birthday cake, double room upgrade). The room was comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered good variety and was delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient in general, though I notice the hotel could be slightly under-staffed at certain periods (e.g. when I arrived at around 8pm, there was apparently only one reception staff member on duty and he was away helping other guests, leaving the reception area unmanned for about 5 minutes). Whilst this was not a major issue, it seemed quite odd to me given the relatively upscale brand of MGallery (and I had stayed at a number of other MGallery's).

« Went out of there way to correct an issue with connecting rooms. »

After a difficult start (we had requested connecting rooms and were in 2 separate rooms), they went out of there way to make it happen: upgrade, modefied previous customer arrangements, ... The food was good, but we waited quite a long time to be served the appetisers and main dish of the adults and the fruit salad of the children!! Breakfast buffet is always very nice with a diverse choice.
