« Nice town, hotel okay »

Room was nice - smallish but perfectly useable - with appropriate modern shower/basin/loo (although no loo roll holder fitted!!). It felt as though the room had been recently re-frubished. The lift was right next door and a wee bit noisy as people using it chatted as they waited, but not too problematic. The parking garage was nightmarish...steep ramp down into very confined space...I wouldn't use it again (there's a relatively cheap public car park not 50m away!). Staff friendly and available, location good.

Elevator controls are from my way of thinking opposite of what they should be on the ground floor and the "0" floor button light does not work making one press it multiple times before the elevator moves. Check in was a bit of a bear. First room 704 was assigned with a key that did not work. This was the only mistake the young check in clerk made. Returned to reception for a programmed key, upon opening the door of 704 I found it was a room that had been smoked in. A return to reception for a reassignment of rooms to 204. Now room 204 problems: the door makes popping sounds when opening, the shower leaks onto the floor through the glass wall very close to wall - a stain is fully visible. The inside door lock has something missing with a square exposed shaft - the security locking knob maybe.

« Not a Mercure! »

This is just not the standard that a Mercure (where I have often stayed in the past) is supposed to be. The garage (albeit free of charge) is almost impossible to get an Audi A8 out of and if other obliging guests had not been available and willing to move their cars, I would still be there!!! The hotel itself was badly in need of a serious facelift. If this is the new standard of Mercure, I will stay in in Ibis instead!

« Same as usual - top quality »

I stay at the Mercure Hotel in Perpignan a lot. It is always extremely comfortable and clean. I have stayed there nearly 100 nights in the last 18months, and the staff have always been extremely friendly and accommodating. I return each time because I appreciate this, and the little details they do to ensure my stay is enjoyable, for example, there was once a parade near the hotel I was not aware of. The staff kept me a parking spot close to the hotel, in an otherwise packed car park. I was very appreciative of this. They really do go the extra mile.

Every night I had to go up and down (some nights 2 or 3) and eventually brought the desk manager to assure that I could get into my room. This makes me not want to stay there any more. I love how close it is to Visa pour L’Image but for the price.. I can walk an extra 2 minutes and stay in a room for less money that I can get in to. I must say that the tall guy who worked Lee late shift while I was there was great! I hope that the door key can be improved. Maybe see you next year.. maybe not. Best, K

« Non standard Mercure »

Good location, standard room, poor breakfast, strange and non professional reception team. All our requests were not fulfilled - no upgrade of the room even it was booked and confirmed in advance, no slippers, no hair conditioner, tooth brush and body lotion in the room (like in all Mercure hotels I have visited around the world). Tried to order taxi before the train. The receptionist could not tell us when to expect the taxi - in 5/10/20 minutes or an hour. She did not try to find out by calling to the taxi call center. In the end we had to rush to the train station by bus because we could not understand if taxi will come any time soon. The receptionist told us we had to order taxi 1 day before, but this information was not written anywhere in the hotel.

« Small rooms despite upgrade and small but clean bathroom. Small thin paper cups for tea/coffee unsatisfactory. »

Friendly staff and efficient check in and check out. Rooms were small despite upgrade but comfortable enough. Bed comfortable but pillows hard. Bathroom was small but clean and had the necessary amenities though we didn’t like the very small plastic drinking glasses.. Non smoking room but smelled of smoke and several cigarette butts on small outside Juliet balcony. Provision of bottled drinking water was great as was soft drink in the mini bar. Biggest gripe for us however was that there was only one plain teabag daily though there were 3 herbal ones and the cups were very small thin paper ones. They were so thin that you couldn’t hold the cup when it contained hot fluids. This is is very cheap and unsatisfactory and probably influenced our rating. We would consider you a 3 star not 4 star hotel.

Finished our 2 weeks in Racou with a night at the Mercure ,Perpignan. Lovely city, an absolute delight. We were given a friendly warm welcome at reception, with support all the time from the staff till we left. Absolutely recommend a stay in this centrally positioned hotel.

Not very good. Only one member of staff on in the evening, doing check in, room service, the bar, and serving food. He was very pleasant but could not cope with everything. The room was dirty, no toilet paper and no tissue paper

« AVOID. Old, decrepit hotel with small rooms »

If I could give it just a single planet instead of a star, I would. The hotel is very uncomfortable, rooms are small and have no place to store personal belongings. I asked for a firm bed, they told me there is nothing to be done. The A /C was not working, and when I inquired, received two contradictory reasons as to why. Spent there one night (was planning on four), the next morning moved across the street to a much better hotel.
