This is the 2nd Novotel we have stayed at recently and both times we have left feeling disappointed.The rooms are run down and the toilets are separate from bathroom which isn't a problem, the only thing is the toilet looks like a public loo with woodchip walls something I have not seen since my great gran was alive.But the main thing for me is that we pay the extra because of the swimming pool etc and both times the pool has been closed.We stayed at a premier inn the night before on both occasions as it was a half way stop and both times they have been more value for money with bedrooms far better quality and up to date

The main Reception, bar area and restaurant are very nice however the rooms are very dated and unpleasant. I am currently working in Newcastle until November and was due to stay at this hotel for longer however I have cancelled this.

The hotel looked relatively new outside but the rooms and hallways looked old the capets had marks and were badly fitting and there were marks here and there on the walls, the breakfast was not to good the bacon was very dry but still greasy. the staff were friendly and helpful but forced into paying £6 to use the supposedly secure carpark as its not even remotely secure will do what i can to avoid using this hotel as for the money definetly not worth it

Average check in. No staff in restaurant at breakfast nor at reception on check out. Eventually checked out the got home to find final invoice labelled "this is not a VAT invoice"...useless to me!

The hotel is quiet unless you have a room backing on to the very noisy A1, which we did, so opening the room window when the room got a little warm was not an option.

« Generally the hotel and staff left us with a good impression. »

We were in a disabled friendly room, which was fine for my disabled wife, but a towel rail and support rail in the bathroom were both very loose. One light switch needed several tries to get it to work. We found the light level in room too poor for easy reading, even by the bedside lights. We were a bit disappointed by the range of the menu. The staff were excellent.

« tired after no sleep due to outside noise »

we did not sleep on our first night at all and the second night despite using ear plugs we had very little sleep, we stay at Novotel Newcastle on a regular basis, to visit family and friends. this is the first time we have experienced the outside noise, the window appeared closed but you could hear the noise of the motorway and trams. did make us think about finding another hotel next time.

« Very disappointed with the standard of the hotel and the price that it cost to stay. »

The hotel was tired. The food within the dining room was a really poor standard and the menu was limited. Within the swimming pool changing rooms, the paint was flaking off the walls and the carpets throughout were in a very poor state.

The hotel is located a few metro stations away from the airport, c.a. 6-8' walk from metro station with easy access to city centre. Quiet area with small shopping centre. The rooms are refurbished including bathrooms with good soundproof. Staff at Reception very nice & extremely helpful.

The reception staff were excellent and described the hotel amenities on arrival. The executive room was a little disappointing, we have stayed with many hotel chains and can honestly say some of the budget rooms are just as well equipped and have comfier beds with a guaranteed good nights sleep, premier Inn for example.

Our check in was swift and polite and the room a good size and quiet even though the main road was close by. Bed very comfortable and the linen of good quality. We managed a swim and sauna before breakfast, which was very good. Another plus was that the Car Park was free whereas when we were last there the overnight charge was £7 or £8. Recommended.
