Always a comfortable place to stay when visiting family the hotel has made some improvements, notably in the ease of access to the wi-fi access and the car park, which now automatically logs your car in (for free as a guest) with no problems about tickets and barriers. It was quiet when I was there, so that there was no breakfast buffet, but to order - which was still excellent, but the following day there was barely room to get in the dining room as it was swamped by a visiting rugby club - kids to adults! Management still did their best though.

The hotel it’s self was lovely, we had 2 rooms booked and they where interconnecting which was brilliant for our family. The carpets in the rooms really do need cleaning but this did not affect our stay. The disappointing thing was breakfast, we chose to have this delivered to our room. The continental breakfast was fine but the hot breakfast was cold, I mean really cold you could not eat it. We ordered 4 adult hot breakfasts and 4 children’s hot breakfasts and everyone was cold. The poor old man who was delivering it to the rooms was run off his feet. The hotel is seriously short staffed. So Our disappointing part was the breakfast the next day which is not a cheap thing to get.

The outside and main reception bar area were clean. The corridors to the beds the carpets were dirty as were the bedroom carpets. The rooms were basic. The hotel was full of noisy teenagers drinking in the corridors.

We were returning to Spain having come over for the birth of a Grandchild but were unable to stay at the hotel as the birth was delayed. Marianna was a huge help and a great asset to the hotel arranging a refund for us, something that was completely unexpected. We shall definitely stay at the Novotel every time we travel from Newcastle Airport.

Hot breakfast was lukewarm at best, room wasn’t cleaned properly, having to pat £6:00 per night parking in an area where there is no other public parking and parking elsewhere would mean carrying luggage to the hotel, bed was very uncomfortable and did not get much sleep

Feel that the hotel needs some refurbishing. It was clean however. A pity that the bar is closed so early, we would have liked to sit down with a drink after we had returned from our night out.

Firstly let me say how the stay was great value. I was given a room upgrade, free drink and a welcome cake on arrival as per Platinum card status which is nice. I stayed here for 6 months solid 8 years ago before moving to the area to live. Went back this time due to work on the house. Hotel was very quiet and may explain the excellent room rate. Rooms are a bit tired but perfectly adequate. Whilst the room was clean, the housekeeping did fall short hence my marking was higher. The laundry bag wasn't replaced, the toiletries weren't replaced on the second or third night, nor the towels, biscuits etc. There was no room service menu in the room and only two hangers in the wardrobe (there was a third but it was broken). And the water glass that I used in the first night wasn't cleaned during the 3 night stay. These are simple things and shows that the housekeeping supervisor doesn't do any checks. The reception staff were very pleasant and welcoming

« Big City Hotel at a reasonable price »

Big spacious building that wouldn't be out of place in a city centre but is tucked away and although it's described as an airport hotel we never heard a single plane during our visit, all the staff were friendly and efficient, it was good value for me and would recommend it. We felt that it just needed a lick of paint, a new hall carpet and a few little touches that a refurbishment would sort but are a minor detail and nothing that affected our stay.

Check in was uncomfortable - was told card had declined when I checked in online - there was plenty of funds in my account so can only assume this was an error on hotel part - no directions were given to room or information given on breakfast etc - Got to room - tv didn’t work - realised it was not turned on at wall - reached down to turn it on and was thick with dust - I would advise you to look as I am sure it will still be there - that was months of not being cleaned - when we turned bath on the shower leaked all over the floor - again please check this as it will still be like that now - stayed for a special occasion and to be honest it was a big let down ..... only nice part was the pool

Unfortunately i was unable to stay.I tried to explain that i would have to cancel as my dog had to receive an essential surgical operation. I was told that i would have to have written confirmation from the surgeon.I rang his secretary to try and change the date.I was told that that he would be in the USA for three months. As regards a written explanation there would be a charge of £75. I then informed the hotel receptionist that my dogs health is my priority. I was also informed that i would not receive a refund. Therefore; i will never book with Accor hotels.

Booked online in January for a really good price (£56 for a room for 4 of us including breakfast). We've stayed here before so knew what to expect from the hotel. Checking in was straightforward and the room was made up for us. I took my boys swimming (aged 15 & 10), however the pool isn't really big enough to swim in for keeping fit. The beds were comfortable and we all had a good night's sleep. On Sunday morning we went for breakfast around half past ten, expecting the restaurant to be busy. However, we were the only guests there at that time, very strange. There was plenty to choose from, however, some of the 'hot' foods were now luke warm. On checking out we were advised that we needed to pay £6 for overnight parking. I challenged this as it wasn't mentioned when I booked the room or when I checked in. Because of this the receptionist waived the charge. Given the location of the hotel (approx 4 miles from the centre of Newcastle) I find it astonishing that Novotel see fit to charge guests to park their cars. What are we paying for? It's not as if it's in the city centre or near somewhere of interest. This hotel is in a pretty remote location.
