« Disappointing and expensive »

The first room I had was big enough but lacking a desk and a chair. I only had an armchair and a tiny rolling plate. This is very inconvenient to work on a laptop. I asked the reception to change room and got a better one after 15 minutes. I don't understand why you don't put a decent table and a chair in a room with plenty of space. This is what I expect for a 250 euros per day room.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. You evoke the absence of desk and chair in some of our rooms. Indeed, a number of our rooms are equipped with a multi-purpose table which is dedicated to this function of desk. For a more comfortable working need, we propose to our customers some rooms equipped with a real desk : it is moreover what what was proposed to you during your stay. Do not hesitate to ask these type of rooms in case of future reservation in our hotel. Finally, you evoke a rate of 250€ and let us be anxious to specify to you that the rate which was invoiced during your stay from 2 till 3 July was 179€. After 8 years and 16 or 17 stays I finally got upgraded to a suite that was amazing I love all the stAff they all treat me like family always welcoming me so friendly and in perfect English ! I love all restaurant staff did breakfast they know what I le have my 2 fried eggs ready and my tobasco ! The day I checked out I got confused with breakfast timing it was 10:30 the one lady - forgot her name tall skinny blonde English name - was so kind Served me whatwver dhs could with my 2 eggs! That was just amazing great customer service !! Enen my late check out was approved Now I love hotel and the rooms and it’s convinient location near promod ahead office but be sure the staff makes it Even the friendly housekeepers they all recognize me and soooooo friendly and helpful I will never stay anywhere else

We experienced difficulty initially in locating this hotel as (a) we did not know the postcode, and (b) we didn't realise that it was not actually in Lille itself. However, having arrived there, we were delighted with the room upgrade to 'privilege' status. Breakfasts were excellent with a avery varied choice of cereals, breads etc. - the fresh orange juice was particularly welcome. We only had one dinner in the restaurant - I still feel there was some confusion over my translation of 'quasi veau' as what I actually was served was 'pave de rumpsteak', but the prices were reasonable. The only significant criticism I have to make about the Mercure group is the failure to provide BBC world news within its TV selection. For British visitors, this is really essential. The Euro news channel in English was very poor and not remotely comparable to the BBC service. I must thank the reception staff who were extremely helpful and professional in assisting us with planning our visit to Lens-Louvre and other trips.

Chose the Mercure Metropole as we were doing day trips by car to the WW1 battlefields in southern Belgium, and meeting friends from the UK (Eurostar). Has pretty good facilities for business meetings / groups, but perhaps not aligned with holiday travellers. The restaurant staff were abrupt, even to the point of clearing our table of all plates / utensils while we were selecting items from the buffet! It means someone has to stay and guard the table..... On our day of departure (after 4 nights), the hotel had no water supply due to maintenance works - but there was no warning of this and it was a bad way to start out a day of travel. The manager did at least provide some compensation by deleting the evening drink we had at the bar the night before (a shame we didn't have more than one drink!) In short, nothing too fancy - but pretty good value and rooms meet expectations.

Lovely hotel, comfortable room, nice food and friendly staff. The only problem was finding the entrance to the hotel and we went round and round trying to get in! Problem with pdq machines left receptionist flustered as I told him it wasn't possible both of my cards were "invalid"

« This hotel works really well for us »

Comfortable room, excellent bedding, good bathroom, secure (free) parking with good access to public transport. The breakfast is a highlight of the stay, very good choice (lots of fresh fruit). One minor detail, for a four star hotel we would expect decent toiletries to be provided - there was only soap in the room (no separate shampoo/conditioner and no cotton wool, shower cap etc).

This visit we stayed for 3 nights without any real problem except our room 412 was just about warm enough as the heating was not sufficient on Sunday when the weather turned nasty. Overall we never really have any complaint here as the staff are mostly very good although I did note that in the bar/restaurant on the Sunday evening there was a distinct lack of enthusiasm or warmth from those working, this spurred us to go to town and eat. However we shall continue to use this location as it has most of what we want in a hotel: thanks to reception for their help on Monday with a small problem we had created. The one bug I have is that you have no English TV news or programmes only squawking American channels, I wonder just how many Americans you attract as opposed to Britons?
