My mom and I visited for afternoon tea today which we booked via Groupon. Julette was wonderful, she really looked after us and asked us which sandwiches we would like, along with a choice of hot drinks. The scones were nice and warm and served with a selection of macarons, and a small carrot cake and red velvet cake each. All of the food was lovely and Julette checked in on us regularly to ask if wanted anymore drinks, she provided an excellent service. I would definitely recommend for a peaceful afternoon tea (the lobby in the hotel also smelled gorgeous!), we really enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning.

I booked 3 nights several weeks before arrival at the Novotel Broad Street Birmingham and checked in online 1 day in advance. Despite that when I checked in I was told there was only 1 bedroom left in the hotel. The receptionist should have added, the worst room. Room 629 was at the end of the long corridor on the last floor was adapted for disabled guests on a wheelchair. I am not disabled. All sinks, bath..etc are best accessed when sitting on a wheelchair which I was naturally not. Despite a bad back I had to bend all the time. This is not right to allocate the worst room to the guest who checks in first! Very very disappointing!
