« Lovely hotel but pity about the details »

Surely the door to the bathroom should have a handle so that it can be opened and closed!! Also, why are the hot and cold water supply to the wash hand basin reversed? And why are you not connected to the automatic check out system as promised when I checked in online?

All was good until check out- Indeed while checking out and going over bill to settle. I notice I had been charged for breakfast everyday during the stay while I actually didn't eat breakfast at the hotel. He explain to me this was hotel policy to automatically charge for breakfast and back it out if client did not eat. First of all, I find this policy to be inconsistent with my other stay else where withing the Accor Group. But I understood nevertheless. However what proceed from there was very insulting and made me feel uncomfortable. I asked him then to remove charges for breakfast. He said something along the way I would do it but wasn't not sure whether I eat breakfast or not since I wasn't there to witness otherwise. I asked him if he felt I was lying, He responded in a manner I felt was RUDE that I could be lying and would know. He proceeded by saying he can only say about the day of check out, but for other day he couldn't be certain. In short, I should be insulted and made to feel I am a lying due to the fact the hotel doesn't have a better breakfast reconciliation system. Furthermore, I feel the associate at check out on Saturday December 3rd around 12pm (Maybe Bernard) need additional training on how to explain hotel policy and being sensitive to customer needs.

« Well appointed hotel with helpful, friendly staff »

Well equipped out of town hotel with a new restaurant and good outdoor facilities being remodelled while we were there. Easy to get to by car A bit far out from the city of Orleans, Euro 25 taxi each way but the city tram system is a 20 minute walk away and gets you there and back for 3 Euros. There is also a bus route taking you into town running past the hotel, not as quick as the tram but less walking. The hotel's restaurant is very good with some 12 Euro main courses while there is an excellent Italian Restaurant only 50 metres from the rear exit of the hotel, part of a chain but excellent pizzas prepared on site with fresh pizza dough. The Festival Du Loire was on while we were there which is a brilliant event with stuff going on all day and evening.

Had an excellent nights sleep in the lovely refurbished rooms and the walk in shower has plenty of room in it The breakfast was good but there was no cooked food out and had to ask for it don't know if this was because of how busy it was as the hotel was fully booked Will always try and book here In the future though as find it a fantastic place to stay

This is always our 1st night stop in France and find it an excellent hotel and even better now the refurbishment is completed so is lovely and comfy with mod cons in the room. The bathroom has a spacious walk in shower, the breakfast is always good and will keep you going all day

Having had a great stay here in May during the refurbishment we expected things to have improved further but this stay was disappointing. The room was unfinished, the smoke alarm was not attached to anything just hanging by loose wires, the shower didn't drain and flooded the bathroom. The restaurant was awful, menu choice was poor and the food badly cooked, dried up pork and cold sweet potato mash, waitress was lovely but not very good, we had to go to the bar twice to ask for items that we had ordered and had not been received.

« Not 4 star and false advertising with no customer service »

Researched a stop over for a long time on our way back from the south of France to Calais. chose this apparently 4 star hotel as it advertised a double room with 2 singe beds and air conditioning. I should have saved my money and stayed at a much cheaper hotel who are at least honest and advertise their rooms as a double bed with an "extra bed" or "pull out bed" or "sofa bed"/"Junior bed" etc On check in the room was a double bed at least but with nothing more than a sofa bed for our daughter. When I questioned the only member of staff working that afternoon and showed the print out of my booking on the accor website the response was "we have never had any of those rooms at this hotel" So why allow me to pay more for one then I asked? "you will have to speak to my superior in the morning" was the only response. No apology, no attempt at anything at all. I also asked this staff member to look into the air conditioning as it was set at 25 degrees Celsius and could not be changed, the room was unbearably hot. He at least said he would go away and get this fixed - this never happened, when our daughter began sweating in bed and we could not sleep - I have sent a picture of our 2 year old soaking wet, I tried opening the window (onto the road at the front so allowing noise that we didn't want) I found that there was no safety device on the windows and the double window fully opened nice and wide, directly above my 2 year old daughter's SOFA (not bed!) making it impossibly unsafe from the second floor to leave open at all. Spoke to the "manager" in the morning on check out, was thanked for my feedback but was told that he had no authority to do anything about a refund or discount on our prepaid rate (for a more expensive room that I did not get)but was promised a phone call when he had spoken to yet another manager who was conveniently also not available. This never happened. The only contact I have had from this 4 star hotel is an email from Accor thanking me for my feedback again - very good of them! and saying "We appreciate your sharing your concerns, also, we do hope that we have met your expectations",!!!! it appears that you do not want to hear! This is a real shame as it could be a nice hotel but 4 stars should mean not run on a stingy penny picking budget, understaffed with no staff training, air conditioning set so it doesn't cost them any money and never mind the comfort of the guests. It almost seems that they are struggling to make ends meet, it has had a refurb but is not finished, we almost tripped over an unfitted carpet outside our room on check in and then almost tripped over the carpet fitter in the morning - workmen & tools were were everywhere - no mention of this on the booking website either - not a 3rd party website either as I mentioned! But most of all an attitude of " we have your money - go away! Never again Accor - half the price for a stop over with working air conditioning and friendly staff at a Camponile or other "budget" brand - A Waste of money and Iam STILL awaiting your reply with my refund.

« Lack of staff on the front desk meant we were kept waiting for a long time after a long journey. »

The lack of front desk staff and at a busy checking in time, early evening, meant we waited for nearly 30mins to check in after a long car journey. There was one person on the front desk and when I came. back down to ask for a towel he wasn't there. We had to ring a bell for him and still he didn't appear. Not good enough for a large hotel like Novotel.

« A great stopover on our journey south »

An excellent stop on our journey south. The room was really comfortable and easily accommodated our family (two adults and a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old). The staff could not have been more helpful both when we arrived (very late) and the next morning.

« Nice hotel but staff need training »

Room was clean and pleasant. Check in was well managed. However, there is a real need for staff training. A lady manager entered our room immediately after two knocks on our door, announcing " room service". No respect for us or our privacy. She said she was coming in to " take a photo of the room". However, she did leave and said she would go to another room. I have never experienced anything like it! I popped down to the bar via the lift to get some fresh milk for tea and asked the barman where the stairs were as I wanted to walk back. He said he was new and didn't know where the stairs were. There were two very young waitresses at dinner as well as the barman. I asked for a gin and tonic at the bar to one of the waitresses who then searched for ages in the soft drinks fridge. Eventually she asked the other waitress where the gin and tonic bottles were. The other girl explained that she had to make the drink and showed her the gin on the shelf. The poor girl had no clue. We were given the standard menu with little choice and made our choices. However, we noticed that other tables were shown two slate- like menus. We discovered that there were at least 8 special options on this menu but it was too late for us to amend our order. Service was poor overall. However the food was satisfactory. The barman, however, did politely thank us for our patience at the end. One of the two young waitresses really didn't have a clue about how to do her work and we felt that there was a need for a front of house person to manage the restaurant. At breakfast , no member of staff was around to log our room number. there were tables for 2 and two large circular tables with no covers. I proceeded to move the cutlery from one table to make a table for three. At this point a waiter appeared and started to yell and tell me off for doing this and putting the cutlery back on the original table. His manner was very rude and which made me feel like a naughty child. At one point, my 11 year old daughter was putting back the maple syrup and the same waiter snatched it up and told her angrily where it was supposed to be kept ( "this goes in here"). Breakfast was served until 9:30 and, just before this time, the staff proceeded to clear and take things away, much to the annoyance of manu guests. I am a frequent Novotel customer and am always satisfied with the level of service. However, I have never seen so many staff that are in need of basic training before in one hotel.
