« Bare Bones Hotel »

We stayed at this hotel for one night before a cruise. It is old and worn out. They have a business taking advantage of people going on cruises. $218 is a lot for this place. It’s not close to any shopping. The dining room was awful and expensive.

« helpful staff. Nicely decorated and furnished hotel and good food. »

From the moment we arrived at the hotel the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed a pizza and wine from the bar. Had a great night’s sleep and a lovely breakfast. Novotel Southampton was able to accommodate myself, my mum, my daughter and granddaughter in a family room so it kept the cost down. Thanks for a great stay I shall definitely book with you again.

Stay in general was lovely. The Executive room was very nice and we loved the pool experience. Sadly the breakfast did not live up to the rest of it and for this reason I would not want to stay again. The restaurant seemwed very disorganised but was being run by a 'manager / supervisor' who had a very abrupt and rude manner about her. My husband is Hearing Impaired and we asked if we could sit at a table at the back restaurant as it was quieter and loud noises affect his hearing aid system. We were told, in a very abrupt manner that it was just as noisy there and NO we could not sit there and gave us a table right next to a large family with children - even though there were empty tables elsewhere which would have been better. When I went to the back of the restaurant I could see empty tables and so took our cutlery to one of them - only to be given a dirty look and a shrug. Following this I found that the cooked breakfast items were running out and had to wait for replenishing. The eggs were dry as were the vegetarian sausages. Had this member of staff not been a manager I would have complained to management but who was I to go to??? I FOUND HER TO BE RUDE, NOT SYMPATHETIC TO MY HUSBANDS DISABILITY AND HER ATTITUDE WAS POOR TO SAY THE LEAST. The booking cost a lot of money and apart from the breakfast - which to my mind ruined the who experience, we loved the hotel. I would not want to stay again purely because of this.

« Not bad but breakfast over priced »

Need someone to go around in wheelchair to see what’s a problem for disabled people!! Overall good but could do better toilets not very easy heavy doors ver tight entrance room not bad but again go in wheelchair and you’ll see sink to high other sink which was lower no plug and far too small for a wash bed too high aswell no night light to keep on for going to toilet.

« Satisfactory - but one major shortcoming. »

Hotel was good and great location. However, booked an accessible room for wheelchair and confirmed this. Also re-confirmed when doing online check in. On arrival was given a standard, inaccessible room. Whilst staff were accommodating and changed room. Without a problem it was just as well that you had one available. Had it not been so we could not have stayed in the allocated room. More care is needed on these matters

« Good location, room air conditioning not working. »

I like the proximity of this hotel to the train station and the city center pier. One complaint of our room was that the air conditioning did not appear to be functioning. We ended up relying on natural cool air by opening windows. Additionally, it seemed odd that the there would be no one at the front desk 24/7 and the front doors of the hotel would be locked. We woke up early to find no one at the front desk and needed to call someone out to let us out of the hotel to walk around.

The stay was OK, but not more than that. What did concern me greatly is something that should NEVER EVER be allowed to happen. After I had booked the room I needed to speak to the hotel so called. My call was repeatedly not answered: in the menu I tried both the "already mad a reservation" and "other matters" options, to no avail. I then sent an e-mail to the hotel's address, H1… H1…, but nobody had the common courtesy to respond. I find these things unacceptable

room too hot and zero ability to cool down, shower ran hot and cold whilst under it. breakfast was 'ok' however the hash browns were disgusting they were clearly mashed potato so there was zero texture very very unpleasant

Many years ago I used to stop here on business quite regularly. I found the staff to be helpful and friendly and the food was always excellent. I told my wife about the Hotel and said one day we will pop down and see how things have changed! We were pleasantly surprised firstly as there was a discount for Accor members and a package with breakfast and dinner. At reception(which was bright and welcoming) the receptionist was friendly, efficient and explained the dining package . Our room was large with an excellent bed. Only a shower cap was missing. dinner in the dining room was excellent, food beautifully presented and tasty and best of all the two service people( Marty & Laura) they took time to chat with us whilst clearing, bringing us up to date with local changes etc. we would return on this point alone. Thank you for a great night.

Event was on (no warning on booking) which was very noisy until circa midnight - disturbing sleep even though we were sleeping on the 4th floor. I am a gold customer and the receptionist was amazing - made sure I got my welcome drink but the potential free upgrade was not offered.
