I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last ten years or so and may be a bit biased. However, it is excellently located and has always served our purpose. Anyone thinking of staying here should note that it is now £10 per day to park at the hotel. This is no longer a nominal amount and is up from £6 in January. It does not state this on the website only that there is a charge. Therefore, they have big notices when you arrive at reception (a bit late to tell you really). Very hot weather but no air conditioning in rooms. No fan either and no one asked if we would like one. Luckily we stopped one of the cleaners in the corridor and got a fan from her. Customer service compares poorly with Premier Inn where the fan is already in your room and switched on when you arrive. I think Accor could do a lot better here. Small pool adequate until it gets busy. Rooms adequate but starting to look like they need a refurb. Bed, typical for a hotel, great for heavy people but a little too firm for 10 stone. Breakfast buffet okay but expensive for what it is if not part of a B&B deal. Hotel is expensive really for what it is. No doubt we will return, being creatures of habit, but despite having sung the hotel's praises over the years, I am now finding it less easy to recommend.

Overall it was OK. The room was Ok very tight for a family of 4. The bathroom was very small and needed modernising compared to other Novotel hotels we have stayed in. The service left a lot to be desired, particular when we asked for a table for 6 at breakfast seemed to put them out and took them ages to actually clear the table from previous guest so we were sat at a dirty table!! I would say the soft toy and small play area were a great hit. But £10 a night for parking seemed very steep, it shouldof be £10 per stay, especially as there is other parking very close for less!

Staff very helpful but being a frequent visitor to Novotel and particularly Southampton. We found that the menu and other small things suggested that they are trying to economise.

Staff our very friendly, lobby area was nice had a nice atmosphere and breakfast was lovely. unfortunately wasn’t very happy with the room toilet was coming away from the wall, bathroom was not clean and bedding had a damp smell.

We only stayed for 1 night again before boarding a cruise for our holiday. The hotel is excellently located for this purpose but is also well situated to access Southampton City centre and the surrounding area. Staff were all very friendly and helpful

« Our stay was amazing »

Very friendly welcome, children received small teddy bears upon arrival. The hotel was extremely clean. The rooms was spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 children (sofa bed in exec room). Small pool but more than enough space for a play around with our 3 year old kids. Breakfast was excellent.

The room need some refurbishment as it definitely looks old which is not quite what we expected from the photos shown in the website which seems to be pretty mordern. Also don’t understand why there is no hand washing facilities in the toilet.

Everything was fine except when we checked out, the time was 12 noon, we went for a walk and got back to our room at 11.15 to find the maid already in our room And cleaning, she had put our personal belongings out in the hallway, when we challenged her she said she couldn’t speak English but she then told us we still had things in the safe, disgusting. We told the man at reception who couldn’t care less. When we come to Southampton again to pick up a cruise ship we certainly won’t use this hotel again, appalling behaviour and what’s worse, no one seemed to care, thought we might have been offered a free drink at the very least, but no, NOT IMPRESSED !!!,

We stayed at this hotel for one night before a cruise. It is old and worn out. They have a business taking advantage of people going on cruises. $218 is a lot for this place. It’s not close to any shopping. The dining room was awful and expensive.
