« Frustrating Wait. »

After an overnight flight, it is not surprising to be required to wait until early afternoon to check into a hotel room. For a hotel located in a port catering to cruise ship passengers, it was surprising/disappointing that the hotel has little accommodation for those who must wait for check-in. The lobby area is laid out in such a way that the only seating is rather haphazard and uncomfortable; and a maze of unused children's toys and games (not to mention departing guests' luggage) must be negotiated in order to access that seating. A large (and unused at midday) bar area is adjacent to the lobby, but no practical seating is in this otherwise natural waiting area. I personally talked with an elderly lady who at 11 AM had been sitting for six hours awaiting check-in and who was still not checked in at the "magic" time of 2 PM. This is not inviting to future guests from overseas.

« First stay »

I booked the novotel in Southampton West quay prior to our departure for our 1st cruise. Staff at the hotel were all very pleasant and helpfull. The hotel offered a cruise package which was a bonus so we didn't have to worry about the car whilst we were away. The hotel has a gym, sauna and pool available to all guests , we had a look around and every where was spotless. The room was spacious for the 4 of us plus our luggage we if we looked the police station bit didn't hear any traffic considering it's a busy road. We will definitely come back and recommend this hotel to others.

« Great stay as always »

Always enjoy staying here, Sahbi is a real credit to the place and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and comfortable throughout the day and evening The only moan I would have is the cost of parking now... it is now £10 to park at a Hotel where sometimes we have already paid £140 to stay which i think is crazy, over the years i have seen it slowly increase from £0 , £2, £4, £6 and now £10. I just think especially with the car park being plenty big enough that Hotel guests should get free parking

« An enjoyable Stay »

The room was comfortable - I like the toilet being separate from the bathroom - and I got a good couple of nights' sleep. The swimming pool and gym area are small but sufficient for us to stretch our muscles. It's nice to stay in a hotel with plenty of staff. You are in a convenient location for most of Southampton's excellent live music venues.

We were looked after very well by very friendly and courteous staff. However, as a committed Christian, I felt it was difficult that the Halloween celebration took place in an area way had to walk through and it was assumed we would want to join in. Would it not have been possible to hold this anti Christian event in another room and offer guests the choice of attending.

This was our second time staying here. We were so happy with the service we were glad to come back. The only reason I didn't give a ten was because the bath and sink in our room seemed to be blocked as the water took a long time to go down the drains, also the shower door didn't keep all the water in and so left a huge puddle of water on the bathroom floor. Apart from that the stay was great as expected.

I was surprized with the calm and nice reception, the cleanness and design of the room, and the quality of food. Everything was much better than expected. I also discovered a number of my favourite shops few steps away, and that was perfect. Everyone I met was nice and polite to me. I will certainly visit again any time I come back to Southampton.

We found the facilities for the price were great. The staff could not do enough. I have very specific dietary requirements and they went the extra mile to really ensure I had a great breakfast. We will definitely be back as we visit our daughter in Southampton a fair bit. Thank you so much.
