« Wedding anniversary break -standard »

We booked a night away for our 6th Wedding anniversary. It was the first break we have had to ourselves in 5 years since having children. We wanted a relaxing break and chose the Novotel due to the location and swimming pool. We went out for dinner the first night in Southampton and it was a very short walk great location. We booked an executive room as a treat - the complimentary water and coffee machine was great but the mattress and bed was below standard. Does not compare to competitive hotel chains and we both complained of back pain and a poor nights sleep. We were looking forward to a lay in for the first time in 5 years unfortunately the room opposite us played very loud music from 6am and there was a lot of banging. I understand this is not the hotels fault. We decided to go for a relaxing early swim before breakfast - the swimming pool was closed and we did not get to use it due to maintenance issues. Breakfast was good and hotel staff very informative not particularly friendly though. It wasn't the relaxing getaway we were after and would not stay in a Novotel again.

« Lovely room, very friendly and helpful staff! »

We had a great stay. The staff were very attentive and made it a pleasure to be there. The room was very nice, I loved the decor (deer and woodland creatures). We went to the theatre which was a short walk from the hotel so saved us spending out on a taxi. Before the theatre we ate in the restaurant. The food was of a good standard and the service was great. We also used the pool and gym facilities which were also good. Overall an excellent experience.

Nice clean efficient. All good. Can tell it’s not an original Novotel, but a rebranded property.new Novotel’s are of a much higher standard. But it’s nice enough. However I did max the thermostat but the room never got warm . Felt a bit chilly at all times

« Very cold AND disappointing. »

Had to sleep in socks and long sleeve jumper and requested an extra duvet. Children also needed an extra duvet as the rooms was so cold. Additionally had to ask the cleaner who was cleaning on our corridor to come in and wipe all the chocolate and hand prints off the furniture/light switch and bed side table when we arrived. She was happy to do so but when she had done it the cleaning cloth was obviously dirty and I had to wet wipe the furniture myself to take the dirty cloth smell away. This is quite worrying as I am supposed to be staying at a Novotel in London at the end of March and am a little worried about the quality of the room.

Only a one night stay with a friend, but had a good experience at Novotel Southampton. Room was spacious and liked having bathroom and toilet separate. The additional door in the room ensured room was quiet. Enjoyed having a bath in the room. Travelled by train and hotel was very close to station but also close to Westquay shopping centre. Would definitely stay again.

« A pleasant well located hotel with a good restaurant, gym & small pool. »

The online check-in was good with a pleasant welcome. The room, 320, was a good size with a separate shower as well a bath. However the air-con only delivered cold air whatever the thermostat was set at which meant that the room was too cold - it was February with outside temperatures between 0 and 5degC. On asking for the air-con to be fixed we were told that it only cools! Surely it must have a heating function? An electric heater was provided but this is fighting the cold air coming in from the air-con vent, so we had to wrap up to stay warm in the room.
