« Short business stay »

The stay was as expected. I have stayed at the Novotel for the last 7-8 years and it has been consistent. The only setback was, I requested for an early check-in but this was not available. This has been the case for each and every visit. I stay at the Novotel Southampton at least 3 times a year. Never once did I got an early check-in.

I've stayed here at lot over the last two years on business. This trip was for pleasure attending a function in the hotel. The only thing to improve on would be free parking for loyalty program holders.

« Tardy and not up to Novotel standards »

We were disappointed from start to end with the poor, cheap, decor, old fashioned room design and layout, narrow corridors, cell like rooms, cold showers and changing rooms in the spa, and mediocre breakfast. I had better overall customer experience at the Premier Inn at Sutton Harbour during the week for work at a fraction of the price. This was not s 4 star experience and should not be advertised as such.

« Service was fine, rooms need decorating »

Staff were very helpful. Rooms were big but a bit tired. Thought the separate toilet was very odd. Appeared to be building work going on which wasn't explained but it is possible this wasn't actually works in the hotel although it certainly sounded like they were.

Both keys didn't work so I had to go back down to reception which was an inconvenience. At checkout nobody was at the desk and I had to wait about 10 minutes The man who checked me in was very pleasant but the lady who checked me out seemed indifferent

A very warm and genuine welcome from the friendly reception staff, A great room, Very clean with a great Bed and a large bathroom. Everything from a warm dressing gown to a toothbrush and coffee machine, I felt my needs taken care of. The Bar staff were knowledgeable and Friendly and cheerful, food was on offer which was great after a long journey! Amazing a Great sleep in a city hotel!. Breakfast was a great, a wide choice....I stay in lots of Hotels....this one is in my top 2!

With no staff to gret you as you use a virtual reception, it was unfriendly and cold. The disgusting decision to put the toilet separate from the bathroom ( good in itself) but have NO washimg facilities for soiled, germ-laden hands, was both unbelievable and possibly illegal?

Both reception staff excellent - first welcome, Giggs(?) supplying a heater when room thermostat made no apparent difference, then the lady when departing. Also the breakfast staff were perfect!

Adequate but room for improvement. 1) rooms cool/cold 2) Ladies changing room shower in gym/pool area still only tepid - reported in 2016, 2017 and again now in 2018; 3) No newspapers in lobby area 4) Parking very difficult - why are we paying £8 per day to squeeze into a muddy bank at the rear of the hotel?

Three of us stayed for three nights in a family room. The beds were very comfortable including the sofa bed that my daughter slept on. The room was immaculately clean. There was a separate toilet to the bathroom which was hard to negotiate as the door opened inwards and there was little room to move. Tea and coffee facilities but only 2 cups and two biscuits, we booked for three. Apart from those minor hiccups all was good.

« Poor service and average hotel. »

Arrived at the hotel not told about breakfast and where it was - had to phone reception and check myself. Hotel has automatic parking and was not asked for my registration plate - had to ask at reception if they needed it the next morning. Loud banging for over an hour at 10pm and then drill noises at 09:30 am! Rooms are average, service at breakfast (including quality) was poor. Likely won't stay here again.
