« Though it was a short stay we were welcomed back and treated very well. »

Check in was very smoothe and as we were with a group (P&O) we went straight to our rooms and then down t the event. The room was good and service excellent.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, a little disappointed in the room, the size was ok but bathroom very dated, and disabled seat left in the shower, though not required.,

When we arrived the hotel had no booking for us ,even though the day before we had an email asking us to check in online .had to wait more than 2 hours for a room .when we checked out we had extra charges that couldn’t be explained ,even reception didn’t know why however they did waver the charge,apart from this the hotel was lovely and breakfast was fantastic,we will stay again

We celebrated our wedding anniversary on the 9th May, staying in your hotel for the first time. We were thrilled when returning from the theatre, to find our room with petals in the shape of hearts and a beautiful plate of goodies to eat plus bubbly. It made our anniversary very special. It was ok but it would have been nice to know that there was a large function going on at lunchtime as I planned to work and have lunch after I checked out. This wasn't possible as the entire bar area was full and very noisy

Enjoyed our stay. Great location especially as we got off a cruise ship. Everywhere in walking distance. Only complaint was breakfast. Good choice but hot food not warm enough and bacon had just touched the heat. Asked if some bacon could be cooked more. Reply was that they had 240 to feed so no they cant cook anything especially for one person. Not impressed.

Cleaners smashed our iPad and staff were rude to deal with on several matters. Telephone charges of £13 to book the room in the first place. Outsourced functions lead to no one taking responsibility for anything. Won’t be coming back and won’t recommend.

Great hotel with friendly welcoming staff. Family joined us for dinner, 6 adults and 2 children, all were made to feel welcome. The children loved having their own menu and ordering for themselves like mini adults. On arrival we are always greeted by " welcome back, hope you enjoy your stay with us again" it is good to be made to feel important and recognized even down to remembering personal likes and dislikes. The beds are always comfortable and reception staff most helpful.

« Preparing to Cruise »

My wife and I were looking for a nice place to stay the night before we cruised from South Hampton. We found the Novotel Southampton based upon convenience of location from train station and port, but discovered much more. The staff were exceptionally kind people. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, good wine and a fun atmosphere. We were particularly moved by the group of guests who were visiting to participate in the swim competition. Truly a delight to witness the meaning of fun, compassion and sportsmanship.

« not quite up to expectations »

I have stayed at Novatol many times but this time I was disappointed. I arrived around 2 pm but during the 4 hours I was there before going out to the theatre in the evening, the electricity supply went off about 4 times. In the morning I was unable to have a bath because my partner had a shower and was unable to drain the water away from where it had collected in the bath. Reception came up to the room promptly but were unable to fix it. I left at 10 feeling quite unhappy.

The stay was nice, the room was good and the breakfast was good. However the customer service before the stay was the very good. I tried contacting via email the Southampton hotel direct and also the main hotel chain contact email on a couple of occasions and on all occasions I received no reply whatsoever.
