« Most underwhelming 4* Hotel »

Reception check in - receptionist didn't make you feel welcome. Rooms are very old and tired and the look and feel is dated - completely different from the website. Breakfast - food was cold parking - you charge £10 for guests Should have stayed at Premier Inn for half the price and a much better experience Just not value for money

Beautiful entrance lobby feels 5* but the rooms are a let down old with artex wall paper, toilet and bathroom separate like your grandparents house.( polish a txxd it's still a txxd) towels are to small for adults, food menu lacks snacks, pool is lovely for families but the air con in the gym is set to low ( the walk way to the pool )

Rooms were clean, staff were friendly and the Breakfast is superb. We also like the fact that the car can stay in the carpark 24 hours from arrival; this is ideal for cruise passengers who have to wait until 3 p.m. to board the ship

Stayed overnight prior to conference at Southampton Novotel the following day. Room rate was very high (£185) compared to local budget conscious hotels. I did not feel that the quality of the room and services provided matched the cost.

The room was cold, the quilt to thin. I could hear the people the next room. I was woken by them coming in at 2 in the morning. The police sirens went on all night. The shower in gym was not private. I did not get any sleep.

« Bar and Restaurant staff great but Checkin, Room and Lift not up to our usual Novotel expectations. »

We checked in online advising we would be arriving before 12pm but advised the room was not ready but to come back at 12. We left hotel and returned at 2.30 to again find the room allocated was still not available. We were given another room. We had 5 bags and asked for help to get these to our room but were told we would have to manage these ourselves. The 2 lifts are so small and rumply and really need replacing. Not the usual Novotel standard. Our "Superior room" was poor - What would a standard room be like? The towels were threadbare, no flannels and the carpet dirty. I had just qualified from a Gold member to a Platinum member and my expectations of a certain standard were certainly not met.

All the staff we had contact with were excellent. Restaurant. Reception. Chambermaid. We stayed two nights, dined in both nights and enjoyed our stay. Sole item requiring attention shower screen screens inadequately leaking water onto the floor.

The welcoming and cheerful staff were appreciated. The room was clean, comfortable and functional. The toiletries were regularly replaced during our four night stay which again was appreciated and is not always the case in other hotels.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Novotel for making my stay there pleasant and welcome. From the moment you walk into the Hotel after work. There is always a warm welcome and a smile from the friendly staff at reception. Then straight to the Bar where the bat attendant already knows what you want without even asking. And then the breakfast in the morning and once again always a warm welcome by the friendly staff. Check in was very easy as I paid before coming to hotel check in was easy same for check out. Hotel is very nice. I was mostly impressed with with the staff who were very kind especially Jay the night man who gave me extra tea bags and milk for me in the middle of the night and then explained to me the best way to get to the station.
